Hmmm, I'm thinking WalMart but I would prefer BestBuy...I live in that place. biggrin

Interesting to note that he has a new webmaster as well. I'm hoping for a site that's heavy on music and music related content. Lose the fluff.

NO TO WALMART!!!! NO TO WALMART!!!!

I happen to like Walmart but the thing is, we don't have a Walmart in New York City. The unions here stop that from happening as they don't use unions in Walmart. There's more to the story but I don't remember it. I don't want to go all the way to Jersey or Long Island to pick up a new Prince CD. I'll do it but it would suck major ass. Watch Prince do it anyway. lol

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

People who constantly complain about the hits are far more boring than the hits they complain about.
Do Bruce Springsteen fans complain about him performing his hits at concerts? OMG, he's singing Born In The USA again. Time to bitch and moan. What about Rolling Stone fans? Do they whine like babies about hearing Satisfaction one more time?
I love to hear Prince perform new music, too. But I also know that Purple Rain and Let's Go Crazy are here to stay. The great thing about Prince is that he constantly surprises us. Whether it's covers of Foo Fighters or Radiohead, or performing obscure gems from his own massive catalog, or throwing in something new that no one has ever heard yet, Prince is all over the musical map.
But Purple Rain and his other hits aren't going anywhere. Deal with it or move on.

and if he didn't do the hits ever again would u still go and c him live? or do u harbor the past so much that even the idea of more new music (like he said he was going 2 do on leno in 2004) scares u over hearing the tired and true?

Freddy loves to nag about Prince doing his hits. I love it when he does his hits. He always does them differently everytime.

THREE albums? Good gravy! excited

I might hold off on the Valente disc, as I usually don't have a lot of patience for his proteges, btu I've been hearing some good things about Bria, so we'll see. hmmm

I'm pretty stoked for Lotus Flower and "MPLSOUND" (or whatever the title will be). If those tracks released for Indie were any indication, I'll be def first in line for Lotus Flower. nod As for the other? Trippy pop, you say? Sign me up. cool

From the article:
Prince will release not one, but three albums in the new year. He's in final negotiations with "a major retailer" to distribute the music in physical form, and a highly interactive website will also provide an opportunity to buy.

I so agree with you Purplecam. There is no Walmart in New York City. We would have to go way out to the long island area, even though the closest one for New Yorkers is on the very end of the Queens County line and the beginning of Nassau County, but way too far to get to for many New Yorkers, unless you live close to those areas. Best Buy or Target would be better since there's more of those stores available within the NYC area, much closer to get to. Also, the article states it will be on sale on an online site.

I really hope it's not a Wal-Mart deal. Their union busting bothers me too much to support that company. Even that aside, Wal-Marts in my city are scarce as snowflakes in hell.

I've lived in Vancouver since July, and I've yet to find any. I know there are some here somewhere, but they seem to be hiding. The only one I know of, you have to take a ferry to get to. lol

I lived in a fairly small city before, and even they had two easy-to-find Wal-Marts; one regular and one Super. Now I'm in the biggest city in western Canada and the stores are nowhere to be found. lol

I really don’t think retail maters at all anymore.
I think Wendy & Lisa got it right. You purchase the music online and download it immediately for your listening pleasure, AND as a bonus you get a nice cd with great packaging nice brochure with pictures in the mail for an affordable price to encourage folks to get it legit.

A physical CD doesn’t matter to at all unless there is something special about it like a nice well done booklet with lots of pictures lyrics and credits.

I guess I'm still spoiled with the cd booklets. Funny thing is, when tapes/cartridges took over the vinyl phase, not too many complained about it, and if you ruined the cartridge tape, then you would have to go out and buy another, if you didn't record on a tape recorder at home.

Now with the cd, you can keep it forever in a file and download it to your computer and mp3 player. If your computer crashes, you still have it on your mp3 player and you still have the cd. You also still have your cd booklet to keep for the liner notes and credit history of the artists who contributed to the cd.

So downloading it is the quickest and fastest way once you purchase online, Having the artists allow you to purchase the booklet for a small fee and printing it out is a good idea as well. At least you'll have the liner notes and music credits of the artists that also contributed to the cd.

3 albums sounds excited, whether they'll be fantastic or not so... But I really like what I've heard so far... and I'll finally be able to really give an opinion on Bria as an "artist".
