Because the hook brings you back I ain't tellin you no lie. Are you coming back to this song or not? People respond to a good song and the average listener isn't examining the contstruction of the song to see whether or not there is a hook. This is a great song and I agree with BKW...those synths and guitar keep you pushin on through the song. I love this song to death! . No one's saying the average listener will hear it and deconstruct it.
Just that if they don't care to come back to it, it's because the song didn't have a memorable enough hook. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Like I posted on the SNL thread, P threw down on Fury. I wrote a thread over in Non Music forum about how much P LOVES Hendrix. He always have and this is no different. Some folks seemed surprise about how good P sounded on the guitar. Not me. I've seen P get down on axe many times live and he could do this in his sleep. P's been in the game since 1978 throwing down on guitar. he's been playing longer than that. P's BEEN good on the guitar. I'm just glad that he choose SNL to turn it out on guitar. Those two twins that he had were BEAUTIFUL!! I was like "Yeah, cool. P is tearing it up on guitar. But DAMN, who in the hell are those two fine wickeds up there with him?! Wasn't Call my name and On the Couch about his relationship with her? The only reason I say fury could be about his wife is that He has a new band and that all this is going on and he's telling her not to worry, he's still her man but that it's just business and this business includes writing songs about you. I'll be one of the first to talk about how stupid the average listener is (mostly 'cause they've been trained to accept shit for so long now that they've come to enjoy it), but in this case, I think it'll be because Fury is merely a solid song with an amazing performance. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Late to the party as always... I've only just seen the SNL performance of "Fury".
I must confess, I had to grin when I heard it. So bloody great to hear Prince play some real guitar again - it has been too long! Honestly, I think the music is sounding more... vital than it has in a long time. I wonder if I have been slightly ruined for the album version now... with Prince's tendency to overproduce stuff on his records, can the 3121 version of Fury kick my ass like the SNL performance? Anyway. Great stuff. More please!

It has that Endorphin Machine vibe. Hoping it is just as "furious" on record. You know how the little fuck mutes his rock songs, on record.
The song has an amazinggggg guitar solo. Prince was getting all the noises and shredding down. And did you notice how easy he thought it all was? Miko must be crying. All you others say Hell Yea!!

I liked the guitar, and I was too busy trying to figure out the back up dancers to hear the lyrics. I KNOW I'm gonna get bashed, but it reminded me of an old man trying to be cool. I LOVE PRINCE, I DO.....so I want it to be good. I have to watch it again with my eyes closed.....I HATED the dancers.....and Princes eyebrows. What do dancers and eyebrows have to do with the actual song? Like some else said if you don't like it fine. But all that other stuff is irrelevant to the song. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
