For now, when Scotland gain independence Birmingham can become the true middle of the UK. RIP

Who is turning up to get tickets on the door tomorrow? It's all very vague! Travelling all the way from Scotland in hope! AHHH

Yes.
Touts always get ther hands on a few tickets. At least with no notice of sale this has been minimised as much as possible and most tickets will be in the hands of fans.
I think overall, the Prince team have offered a range of options that allow for various people's circumstances. Tickets on the door. Twitter announcement. Radio announcement. Extra shows. Free shows. £10 shows. Online ticket sales with some tix left on the door. People did complain about lack of notice and lack of advance sales. Now we have them, some people prefer it the other way. They are never gonna please everyone.
I'm pleased to have the chance to see Prince in a smaller venue & understand that means I risk not getting in as there are fewer tickets to be had.
My friends and I have put some proper work into getting into the shows. I have had about a 50% success rate. I missed the 1st show at Elec Ballroom because I gave up and left London about 10 minutes too soon. I was on the train home with no stops for 100 miles, when Prince tweeted to go to EB, just 10 mins from the train station where I'd been all night.
We spent a whole Friday night in London waiting incase there was a show. Walked past Ronnie Scotts about 1500 times. Gave up at 11pm and went 100 miles home again.
To make sure we got into Shepherds Bush, we were on the train within 12 minutes of the 6music announcement. We waited outside for 7 hours. At last we were rewarded with a front row balcony seat next to George Clinton.
Friends waited in London nearly 10hrs last Thursday when Kiran tweeted who wants a show tonight. Went home disappointed and minus last days holiday and some £££.
Lined up outside Koko for 5 hours on Sunday.
The way my life is at the moment means I am able to do this. i appreciate that many people just can't. I have friends who are not able to do this and they were lucky to be online last night and get some tickets for Manchester. This has taken some work too. There are 4 of us, effectively doing shifts, looking at princewatch all the time so we don't miss it.
Bizarrely, lastnight we ended up in a situation we never thought we would find ourselves in. We have too many Prince tickets. My spares are going to a Prince fan who cried when they heard they could have tickets. I am selling them for face value even though I could really do with the money and there are people selling them for £100's elsewhere.
I'm sure if I'd seen no shows and I had no tickets then I'd be having a moan. I won't pretend there haven't been times in the past two weeks when I have been annoyed or frustrated about it either. I do think overall they have done alot to try and give us as many options as possible within the contraints of a hit and run scenario.

Great post - its been a crazy few weeks and looks like it will continue. I too have made the 100 mile trip home empty handed too many times and have seen one gig and an encore. I have been glued to twitter and fortunately last night I was checking whilst P was on the telly and booom. Now I'll go 100 miles in a different direction for a change but at lease I know I wont come home disappointed.

I have just spoken to Ticketline Customer Services to ask whether there would be two queues for the gigs, for those with and without tickets. She said yes because the tickets will be sold from the box office which is away from the main entrance to the venue. But she also said that only 50 tickets will be available on the door and people are queuing already!
Feeling very very lucky to have tickets. [Edited 2/20/14 5:41am]

She said 50? When I called them they said they didn't know how many!! By any chance, did you happen to catch the name of the woman you spoke to?

Nightmare. I have felt properly gutted all day since missing out last night, had just convinced myself to go for it anyway and get in the queue tomorrow, but sounds like even that will not be worth doing. Thanks for the info though Clare.

Thanks for the info though Clare. No but it was literally 10 minutes ago when I spoke to her, so she should be still there now. Sorry this reply was to the comment above asking who I spoke to. Wow, queuing already!? I am feeling very very very lucky! Eye like pretty things, and u're just as pretty as u can b...

I just rang and the woman said that they had just had it confirmed in the past 5 mins that there will be about 500 for each night.........! So confused.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Can I ask those with tickets what time they will start queuing to get in? Is 6 ok or should I make it a bit earlier?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
500 sounds more realistic....

Don't want to cause any confusion. Just repeating what I was told. I didn't even ask the question as to how many tickets, she just told me 50 and I repeated it to her. It's no wonder people are queuing if that's what they have been told. Sounds like they have increased the number as it was more than 5 minutes sago when I spoke to her. [Edited 2/20/14 6:17am]

I phoned this morning and was told there would be approximately 400 tickets sold on the door at 7pm.

The number I spoke to was 0844 888 4420 which is Ticketline. There is also a number for the Academy Box Office which I couldn't get through to. Did we all speak to the same place?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I spoke to the Box Office staff on the 0161 number.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The number was 0161 275 4278. That was about 11am GMT.

Got a feeling people will be queuing there at stupid o'clock, even the ones with tickets . Also no ones knows yet what will happen with tics sold on the door, will they be in a separate queue and be let in after ticket holders?

I just don't know what to do - is it even worth travelling and queuing in hope if there are folk queuing already?!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Thanks. Yes it does feel good to know that for once we are travelling 100 miles to a show that will actually happen and that we will actually get into Very lucky.

Depends on who you ask. Most of the naysayers are too scared of democracy. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I think people will be queuing from very early to get the best spots/door tickets, we can't all get there till 6.30ish, I think wherever you are in the venue the atmosphere & gig will be awesome, I'm so excited. I'll be on the balcony but still think it'll be great from up there

Very similar experience for me...I've only gotten into Shepherds Bush so far...got a ticket for Manchester in the scramble, but it doesn't feel that great given how many seem to keep losing out. It's a real high getting in and experiencing the magic, but really really difficult to get tickets currently...

I'm trying to decide when is best to get there? I finish work (in Liverpool) at 3, might head straight there. Any idea how long the other shows lasted? Trying to best time my return coach!
