Well, they've fixed the spamming situation on the Rock Hall site. You can no longer refresh and continuously vote. You now get a message saying "You can vote again in 24 hours."

Welcome Back Brother Andy! cool

NWA is going to far short of being elected into the R&RHOF.....again! Even the box office success of the film Straight Outta Compton wasn't enough to "convince" those HOF committee members to take NWA seriously.

Speaking of musical acts, Chic has been nominated on 10 occasions and still will not get elected yet. disbelief lol

So Green Day does and Janet doesn't? She's influenced damn near ever pop star of the last 30 years. That in itself is a qualification. Just because you don't like her music doesn't mean she doesn't belong.

"You know, the thing about the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame. It's a wonderful organization. I've done actually quite a bit of work, charity work for the foundation. It's a wonderful organization, but it's a private organization. It is like a golf club or something. These 3 gentleman originally said we want to start a private club. Gonna call it the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame and we're gonna let in who we want, and like a golf club, they have every right to do that. You know, it's not a democratic popular vote or record sales or every person in the record, music industry voting. No, it's a private club and they have the right to let in who they want or not."

THIS. Janet Jackson most assuredly belongs in the RNRHOF, and should have been nominated back in 2007 on the strength of her influence alone, nevermind her industry achievements, records set, etc.

Even though it's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, since they seem to have expanded it and also include R&B and country/western acts, I don't know if she ever finally got inducted or not, but Donna Summer should have been in there years ago considering that she was considered the queen of an entire genre. Not having her in, is like not having Aretha Franklin in.

Donna was inducted several years ago,but it was after she died confused She was nominated a couple of times when she was still alive.Such a shame that she had to die in order to finally get inducted...smh

It's never been expanded. It has always included R&B and other acts. You had more R&B acts in the first year of inductee's than any other genre. Unless you want to count Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Fats Domino and Rock & Roll acts. The first couple of years, R&B acts were the most prominant. Now, what happened in later years, not sure.

I'm not sure why people take the rock hall so seriously. It's a museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Is Cleveland a big tourist spot? lol Rock & Roll was originally about rebellion and a museum is not about that. So that means rock is the establishment now, when in the beginning the Bing Crosby audience was trying to ban it and said it caused juvenile delinquency.

Well regardless of what you guys think. The CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thinks that "If Madonna is in, then Janet should be"
"She dominated that era, and has been such an inspiration to today's stars". Can't argue with that.

Rock Hall CEO on Class of 2016: 'If Madonna is in, Janet Jackson should be'

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Everyone has an opinion on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, whether you're a huge lover of Janet Jackson, a defender of hip-hop or a diehard fan of the classic rock bands.

But there's one opinion you may want to pay close attention to. Greg Harris, CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was named president and CEO of the Rock Hall in 2012. Harris has been with the museum since 2008, which means he's led planning for three of the four induction ceremonies held in Cleveland.

The Class of 2016 nominees include N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, Yes, Deep Purple, Chaka Khan, The Smiths, The Spinners and others.

"It's an incredible ballot we have this year," says Harris. "You think about these 15 nominees and any five of them would be fantastic."

The biggest name on this year's ballot is easily Janet Jackson, who, if inducted, would be the biggest solo artist to enter the Rock hall since Madonna in 2008.

"One could say if Madonna is in, Janet Jackson should be in," Harris says. "She dominated that era and has been such an inspiration to today's stars."

To get Harris' thoughts on N.W.A. and NIN's chances, along with what he thinks of six big-name classic rock bands making the cut, check out the video at the top of the page.

The inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be announced in December and inducted during a ceremony in New York this coming April.

who has she influence???

Who has she influenced? lol Surely you jest. The question should be who hasn't she influenced? Her stamp is on just about every damned dance/pop/R&B artist to come out since CONTROL blasted onto the music landscape 29 years ago. It doesn't matter if you think the people she has influenced aren't "worthy" enough, or that it's a "joke" list. The fact remains that she has influenced artists, period, and that's the subject here, and one of the reasons why people are inducted into the RNR HOF. The truth is, the list of artists she's inspired goes all the way back to the 1980s. In the '80s, Tiffany was doing that hand/face wave thing that Janet made famous in "The Pleasure Principle" video. And then there was Pebbles, Jody Watley, Paula Abdul, Karyn White and Nia Peeples (she may not have "inspired" some of those women, per se, but you can best believe that CONTROL's success opened the doors for all of those women's solo albums). In the '90s there was TLC, Salt N Pepa (both groups had similar tomboy-to-sex siren transformations that Janet famously underwent between RN and janet.) and Aaliyah, and in the new millennium there was Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, Destiny's Child (Beyonce and Kelly Rowland, specifically), Ciara, Tinashe, Missy Elliott, P!nk, Keri Hilson, Fefe Dobson, Kat Graham, etc., etc., etc. Lady Gaga has called Janet a "legend." Rihanna basically ripped Janet's "Velvet Rope" era look during her own "Loud" era, and even brought audience members onstage with her during her concerts for a dance/tease ala Janet. Mya's "Case of the Ex" video is practically a scene-by-scene remake of Janet's "You Want This" video. Kelly Clarkson and Swedish artist Robyn have covered Janet songs in concert. Kylie Minogue and her sister Danni have sampled and/or covered Janet songs. When Alanis Morrissette was a dance/pop artist in her native Canada, she would go see Janet concerts just to derive inspiration, and she performed live covers of "Black Cat" while part of the Canadian band The New York Fries. Solange Knowles once said that she is a student of Janet. Selena Gomez said a couple of years ago that her tour was inspired by Janet. And her influence doesn't just end with female artists. Chris Brown has videos that mimick Janet's (his "Yeah 3x" video is basically a carbon copy of Janet's "Alright"), N'SYNC and Backstreet Boys have spoken on their admiration for her, british artist Peter Andre homaged RN in the video for his single "Defender", Bruno Mars has covered Janet in concert several times, Adam Levine once Tweeted "Even for as huge as Janet Jackson is, I still feel like her records are underrated," and that the nude photo of him with the woman's hand covering his genitals from behind was the male version of Janet's 1993 Rolling Stone magazine cover, and Usher has given Janet props for her work, even contributing to her MTV ICON special. The rock world has even given her props, with Tommy Lee praising "Black Cat", and Lemmy from Motorhead once saying that he loved the song so much that he wanted to remake it with her. Go Youtube "Janet Black Cat cover" and witness the myriad of unsigned rock artists and bands who've covered the song. Her songs are constantly sampled by Hip-Hop artists. Her influence defies music genres, which is the reason she is the only artist in the history of the Grammys to be nominated in the Rock, Pop, R&B, Dance AND Hip-Hop categories. For years, pop artists have shown their Janet influence in their own concerts, women, famous and non-famous, have been trying to copy her hairstyles, and people have been mimicking her photos (her infamous janet. album/1993 Rolling Stone magazine cover is arguably THE most paid-homage-to photo of a female pop star of all time). Hell, she even made the headset mic a thing, and soon after she was seen sporting one in various videos and performances from the CONTROL era, artists in genres varying from Pop (Madonna) to R&B (Bobby Brown) to rock (Kip Winger) were seen wearing them in videos and onstage. So yeah, Janet's influenced a LOT of people, and the remarks made today by the RNR HOF CEO just cement that fact.
