You know I'm voting for Chaka everyday, all day. biggrin I know the fans who are voting on the website are voting for Janet since she has a hot product out now but will those votes count as much as the committee votes? If the committee votes count more, I think Chaka will be inducted before Janet, and rightfully so. I know a lot of ya'll worship Janet and everything but, c'mon, she has had no where near the musical influence Chaka has had, not to mention Chaka's catalog is just ridiculously endless and she has recorded in just about every musical genre. When Gladys Knight was inducted, she was way past her prime, no where near the height of her popularity. Same with Tina. So, yeah, I think Chaka has an excellent chance of being inducted this time around.

nod Chaka has influenced so many female artists,it's almost ridiculous smile

im curious to know how do you all decide which nominees 'deserves' to be inducted over the others. if they are all on the ballot they all have the same chances right? this is janet's first time being nominated so she clearly wasnt the reason chaka or any other artists hasnt been inducted.nwa put out 1 or 2 albums and basically ruined rap music imo, yet the artist you all feel dont deserve to be inducted in this class happens to be a icon with over a 30 year career and one of the most successful and influencial female artist of all time?

Thank you!!! They are complaining about Janet but you got NWA with woman beater Dr.Dre in the mix! Where is the outrage in that. Janet has worked her ass off for everything she's got. They act like she ain't done sh*t in 30 years. If her critically acclaimed album helps her get in then so be it. [Edited 10/14/15 12:41pm]

she now has 7#1 albums, thats 3rd most of all females and the most for a black female artist, she is the only black artist and the 3rd artist period to have a #1 album in 4 calender decades, she still holds the record for the most consecutive top 10 songs as well as many others...if she dont deserve to be in the hall of fame i really dont get it.

Not to mention still holding the record for the biggest debut artist tour in history for Rhythm Nation. Adding to that she is one of only 3 artist to have 7 top 10 hits from one album.

If they only plan to induct one Female Solo Artist in the 2015 class then Janet is likely to get in over Chaka. The Rock Board is all about Politics and they'll go with Janet because tickets to the Gala will sell well...Have they ever inducted 2 Black Female Solo Artists at the same time?

there are only like 4 black solo female artists in the hall, so of course there has never been 2 in the same year.

Just a guess, Aretha, Etta, Ruth and Darlene Love.

Nobody is complaining about her being nominated. lol Good grief, you guys need to relax, so overly defensive! Obviously everyone is happy for Janet (besides maybe two people) and if you guys can't see that than I don't know what to tell you. lol Just because some have some question certain things about the nominations doesn't mean their not happy for Janet or don't want her to get in. Honestly, I doubt very highly if NWA gets in any time soon. There are more artists that have been snubbed WAY longer than a 8 years thats all some are saying. I think its ridiculous that bands like Chic have been nominated almost 10 times over a span of decades and still have not made it in. Why can't people express their frustration with that? Just as you can be happy for Janet, people can also express their frustration with artists who have yet to be nominated or yet to be inducted.

Thats like if Michael Jackson was inducted before James Brown or Jackie Wilson, it just logically does not make any sense because those two entertainers broke down barriers for Michael to be successful. I think artists who paved the way should get honored before artists who succeeded them.

I guess you haven't seen the mess on Twitter. When I tweeted this out this week my mentions were full of rock fans pissed off because Janet was nominated. Never mind Chaka or NWA. Chic ain't even on their minds. But because they some how think she is a shoe in (which I don't believe) they've come for her the most.

that dont really make sense, if he's nominated he should receive the same treatment as the other nominees. you cant penalize one artist because you feel another has been slighted.this is not senority based, if that was the case they wouldnt nominate artist from one era until everybody from a past era gets in, the rule says 25 years after an artist first release, once they have 25 years in they are all on the same playing field.

There white. It doesn't matter what they influenced. They're a white rock band and since RHOF is racist they will always have an advantage in getting in over more influential black artists, just ask Green Day. The fact that Green Day is in the RHOF.......before Barry White, Spinners, Chaka, WAR, Chic, Janet, and Whitney really makes me sick to my stomach. confused There is no way in hell they should be in the RHOF!!!!!!!

James Brown and Jackie Wilson definitly did that for Michael Jackson so they should get inducted before him. Not because their older..... but because they were groundbreaking and changed music and paved the way for the Michael Jacksons and the Princes. They can't get the same treatment as nominees because technically their not equal in terms of their impact, influence and contribution which is why again Chic and Chaka should technically already be in the hall. How would you feel (hypothetically) if Janet was snubbed for 10 more years and artists like Beyonce and Rihanna got inducted in before her, you probably would feel a certain way about that as a fan and considering Janet paved the way and broke down barriers for Beyonce and Rihanna. Not only would it not be appropiate, it would be disrespectful to all Janet has contributed compared to those two.

From what I see, most are happy that she is nominated. Most rock fans don't like pop music anyway. They have a prejudice complex about it so they would be that way toward any pop act. They did the same to Madonna and MJ.

Still would like to see Roger Troutman inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame too, but I don't know if he'd even be on their committees radar unfortunately. Perhaps there should be a Soul or R&B Music hall of fame which inducts deserving acts like those mentioned in this topic who are yet to be part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. As for Janet, IMO she definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, I'm sure on record sales alone she's ahead of others in her nomination category. Plus she managed to get away from being labelled as just Michael's little sister and created a highly successful career of her own. I think when you consider all those factors you can't really look beyond Janet, although I'd also like to see Chicago, The Spinners, Chaka, Chic & The J.B.'s go in too, and maybe Yes too because Rick Wakeman seems an OK guy. NWA is a name a few years down the line who should go in too but maybe with the movie out this year it could be their time when they go in also.

we are talking about 2 different things. once an artist has reached the 25 year requirement and they are nominated they should be equally considered for nomination just like the artists who has been waiting 10 years.

But they are considered... if they are being nominated. A nomination means they are being considered for a possible induction. However, artists that are nominated are not necessarily viewed as equals in terms of impact and influence when they are considered for induction (and rightfully so! All artists have impact music differently, some bigger than others so why should they be viewed as equals when they are not?). This is because all artists have contributed different things to music, broke down different barriers and influence the progression of different things.

if they leave janet on the ballot for 10 years and they induct artists who came after her of course i wouldnt like it but i cant blame those artists because they didnt stop her from being inducted..

Your reasons for not liking it are no different from the posters who are insisting Chaka should get in before Janet, its the same thing.

this is janet's first time being nominated even though she has been eligible for 8years, its not her fault if artists who 'paved the way' hasnt been inducted yet.Diana Ross or Tina Turner are not in the hall as solo artists, didnt they pave the way for chaka? i dont have a problem with your theory but its kinda impossible for it to happen like that because the years keeps adding up

Diana Ross and Tina Turner are not on this year's ballot though and again I was not basing my opinions on senority which you seem to imply my argument is about. It depends on the nominations and other factors not just who has been around longer. Based on this years nominations, I think all the black acts should get in. However, if there was a choice between Chaka and Janet, I would like Chaka to get in because she broke down barriers for Janet and multiple other singers musically, songwriting and singing.

Diana Ross should most def be in as a solo artist. Tina Turner, I don't think so. She didn't have a big impact as solo besides for a short 2 year period in the mid 80s. Ross was successfull from the get gow leaving the Supremes up until the mid-80s. Ross has 8 solo #1 records. Tina has just one.

Of course they should and especially Diana Ross. She made a big impact on solo female entertainers. If the ballot was between Diana Ross or Chaka, I would most definitly say Diana deserves to get in before her but unfornately the 2015 does not include her and we can only base the choice off of who is nominated
