There's a thread in GD. smile

Everyone buy his new album, Channel Orange, coming out on July 17.

Any idea what it might sound like? His stuff is usually pretty slow right? I want something to move to.

No, he has some mid to uptempo stuff out. A popular midtempo one is Novacane.

I honestly hadn't heard of him until not too long ago.

His music doesn't do it for me, but I might just have to buy his album to support my fellow LGBTers lol.

What I got from the letter was that it wasn't Frank who waited 3 years to say how he felt, it was the other guy, too closeted to say how he felt hence the not dropping of the girlfriend. It was one of those I'll-fucks-wit-ya-but-I-ain't-gay things.

Three years after the initial encounter goes by and finally he admits that he loved him all the time but by that time it was too late. Too much time and broken heartedness had set in.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I read an interview that Van Hunt gave recently where he said that

Frank Ocean was one of the only few new dudes out doing music

that he liked....

I'm really inspired by this revelation; makes me want to also lead the

life I imagine for myself and not be afraid of what or how other people

take it.*

perhaps i've been under a rock as hip hop and r & b have sickened me for years now so i don't even listen. i don't even really know who this guy is. so to that extent, not sure how much of a "game changer" this is. i feel like when someone is a "game changer" you can't escape their hype even if you're trying to, they become ubiquitous (kinda like 50 when he first dropped In Da Club). when i copped the Wax Poetics with Prince on the cover is the when i first heard of him, didn't even read the article. never heard anything by him so, i'm just one person, but this isn't all that newsworthy to me and i thought the letter still read kind of "restrained." if Maxwell follows suit and Dr. Dre, then....

I hate to be the one to say 'I KNEW IT'...LOL.

But I remember clearly a discussion I had with a friend about when Hip-Hop will start accepting or acknowledging Gay artists, because we do know they exist. It's pretty crazy that people like to think they all are straight. We know obviously that is not the case. And, being on the DL only holds so much merit. It was only a matter of time; someone with great status and expression would drop the reality on us, Frank Ocean was the first, and for that he gets my applauding for it. He is an amazing artist, and he doesn't hold back..Why should he and why should anyone? It's not like it will be held for too long..What's done in the dark will eventually come out in the light.

ALTHOUGH; at one time I thought it was going to be Kayne West, Drake or Lil Wayne. Hahaha (Pure Speculation on them) But I always felt in a sense that Frank was gay/bi; listening to his music would make anyone realize that. lol

I just found out Anderson Cooper; finally made a statement but who did not see that coming? LOL. As he said, those matters are private because it should not effect his business..But since he does not want people to think he is ashamed, etc..He rather declares it, and so that is what so many others are doing as well.

It should not be a surprise....But this is the time when America and the world demonstrates their true colors of discrimination, and prejudice. We got to do better people; time out for the discrimination.

People are what they are, and they deserve respect and love like anyone else.

The whole thing about Frank is that this is the firsrt time that someone has come out BEFORE they blow up, not after.

Believe it or not it's easier to come out after you've made it. Look at Neil Patrick Harris. He was out for years and already had the role as the womanizer on "How I Met Your Mother". If he had come out before the fact he never would've gotten and kept that role.

This news can kill his career and we just have to wait and see because there's no precedent. He's the litmus test.
