Another great one is gone. This one I did not expect for a long time yet. She was just timeless. Loved to love her.

I'll tell you Guys one thing....It's a SHAME that Donna was nominated for the Rock'n Roll Hall of fame years ago and every year since she hasnt gotten ENOUGH freaking votes to get inducted...Each year her name has been thrown back in the Pot while others got inducted...
I HOPE that the Rock'n Roll member voters do the RIGHT thing by Donna next year....They should have honored her while she was alive...
We have to give our ICONS their Flowers & Propers while they can still walk & talk not when they're Damn Dead...

RIP Donna. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

So this was the angel that was leaving.....
I woke up yesterday to several Janet Jackson videos, then I turned the channel and there was another one.....after 20 minutes of delight, it was struck short by my instant fear that something happened to Janet. A quick flip to CNN calmed my nerves but only a bit. I was feeling something was lurking and now this horrible news.
She was in my mouth just last week, about how great she still sound and looked. The Marilyn Monroe pic is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! 2012 is doing me in for the dead, folks I enjoyed and admired. That is why I have very little critique when it comes to Prince because he is only human like the rest of us. This news is very sad, however she has no more suffering.

I feel as if I'm losing all the icons of my youth. Donna Summer represented so many of the good times in my life, so many carefree nights on the dance floor, falling in and out of love. I'm HATING this news.
Rest Peacefully, Donna Summer.

This is really shocking. 63 is too young. R.I.P. Donna Summer, one of the true titans in pop/rock/r&B/dance history. Amazing voice and talent.
My first exposure to Donna Summer was "She Works Hard for the Money", her big comeback single in the summer of 1983. It was on MTV in massive rotation for months. Later I went back and acquainted myself with her older works. So many classic tunes.
I've always loved this quote from David Bowie on "I Feel Love":
One day in Berlin ... Eno came running in and said, 'I have heard the sound of the future.' ... he puts on 'I Feel Love', by Donna Summer ... He said, 'This is it, look no further. This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next fifteen years.' Which was more or less right. * * *

What's strange to me is that I have been listening to her heavily lately prior to her death. Hoping that she would do something new , not having an idea she was sick. R.I.P to the queen of disco.

R.I.P Donna Summer. :'(
Donna was definitely one of the biggest influences in music. She inspired so many (female) artists.
