I'm assuming the songs he took the time to put a copyright on wre recorded in some form or fashion.

It's obviously an early recording of the song. I hate to say this but we'll now see grumpy fans come out and bash it to no end.

Unfinished as it may be, I'd take this and similar quality stuff over fake ass songs any day of the week.

I thought it was okay, kinda reminds me of something Sade would do. My biggest problem was the quality I wish it could have been better. It was also WAY overhyped considering how well Streetwalker and Fly Away were in comparison to some tracks that made Bad I thought the reviews said were plausible. Well (at least in my opinion) they weren't.

I agree and I am glad it's not fake. But I think the issue here is, the Estate is claiming this song was from the BAD sessions, when vocally, myself and others are certain it sounds like from around 1982.

A Message from the Estate Of Michael Jackson Re Wembley concert DVD Quality

RE: BAD 25 RELEASE

It is great to see the overwhelming support and excitement in the fan community for the upcoming BAD 25 release. A few questions have arisen regarding the Wembley concert DVD. Although the press release wasn’t the place for background details, here is more information:

• We know that Nocturne captured on Umatic tapes the footage projected onto the JumboTrons at the various concerts including Wembley. These tapes were turned over to Michael’s crew and we have confirmed with Patrick Kelly (who headed Michael’s film crew for the European tour) that everything from Europe was sent to LA to be put in Michael’s storage facilities. The same procedures were followed for the US shows.

• Unfortunately, record-keeping in the storage facilities was sporadic, at best, so we do not know what happened to a tape once it was sent for storage. In most cases, once a tape was pulled from the box it arrived in, it was not put back in the original box and where it wound up doesn’t always make sense. As a result, 25 years later not all of the Umatic tapes from the various shows can be located, notwithstanding that we have conducted an extensive survey of all of the storage facilities. So while we believe that the Umatic tape for Wembley was initially sent for storage, we have not been able to locate it. And with regard to the Umatic footage of other concerts, the audio is extremely problematic and therefore these concerts are unusable.

• We know that VHS copies of the Umatics were made when Michael wanted to view a particular concert, but because of the lack of record-keeping, we also didn’t know which concerts existed on VHS. We ultimately did find Michael’s personal VHS viewing copy of the Wembley show attended by Princess Diana and Prince Charles, but not the Umatic. Even finding this VHS felt like a miracle to us!

• So while we continued the search for the Wembley Umatic master, we also researched the audio recordings that existed from all of the concerts including Wembley. Fortunately, the Wembley audio recordings were made using a sound truck, and appear to be the only multi-track recordings from the tour. The other audio/visual recordings that exist, whether Umatic or VHS, are “front of house” mixes, and therefore there are no separate audio recordings that can be used to create a high quality listening experience. It is for this reason that the Wembley audio is the only one suitable to create a live album.

• If we were going to include a live concert DVD in the BAD 25 release package, we had only one choice, Wembley. And there were only two options for visual – the Umatics for a different show or the VHS for Wembley. It would certainly be less expensive for the Estate to be able to create a DVD from a Umatic tape than to spend the time and money to painstakingly restore/enhance the VHS footage, but then we would not be delivering a truly authentic experience and we truly believe that watching this concert with the high quality audio will create a magical experience for all the fans as it has for us. We ultimately chose a lab that has developed its own proprietary technology for doing this kind of work (including restoration for NASA of VHS footage) in order to make the visual experience the best it can be under the circumstances.

We also could have chosen to release the Japanese concert from the first leg of the tour as there is a master of that show; but that concert was essentially a reincarnation of the Victory Tour with only two songs – “Bad” and “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” – added at the end. It isn’t what we believe the fans would want.

We could have elected not to release a DVD as part of the BAD 25 celebration (and hold out hope that someday we might find the Umatic of the Wembley concert) or we could share with the fans the chance to relive that magical night with pristine audio. We made the decision to go with the latter and provide the fans with the most authentic viewing experience. We believe that the fans will agree it was the right choice when the package is released in September.

"I can only speak for the Bad Tour period where I recorded and mixed two Wembley Concerts (July 14th & 16th 1988) to multitrack.

Yes, Mike SANG pretty much everything - even toward the end of the show on the 16th (which was the third-day-straight-in-a-row show).

I listened to those mixes again recently after having put them away for over 20 years - my first reaction was 'omg this is wonderful' as the hairs stood straight up on the back of my neck, 2nd thought was 'thank god I didn't screw up'

Mike's performance on the 16th was way so markedly way beyond that of the 14th, and any other concert of his that I've heard from around that period (Dangerous tour included) - perhaps it had something to do with Lady Diana being there that night - he was obviously very happy, laughing and playing with the audience - it seems like it was a very special event for Mike and he most certainly sang his heart out.

There was no fraud Jim, Mike was the real deal.

The Bad Wembley recordings were commissioned to record concert audio for the Around The World documentary which was scheduled to be simulcast (simultaneoulsy released to air) on NBC, BBC, NHK and other broadcasters later that month on July 29th (I think).

I was told that whilst video for the documentary had been shot at a number of concerts throughout the tour, Mike felt that the audio thusfar, for reasons never elaborated on, was not up to scratch, so I was asked to record, mix and then sync snippets of audio to the documentary video master. It's a longer story than I have time for at the moment unfortunately.

The audio is of very high quality indeed (but then of course I would say that lol), having been recorded to Mitsi 32's. The multitracks were mixed with great care and 'honesty' - you guys who have worked on live concert recordings will know exactly what I mean by this.

In answer to your question, I don't actually know whether video recordings (suitable for post-production) of Wembley exist.

In the realms of supposition, I'd imagine that the IMAG (nocturne prods) video produced each night was fed from video mixer output (used to feed the giant screen, and that the seperate camera feeds were likely not recorded discreetly however I may be completely wrong on this.

Patrick Kelley, who directed Around the World, did have a 7 man camera crew working on the 14th (this was in addition to the giant screen video crew) and some of that footage was used in both the 'Another Part of Me' video (which used footage from Wembley 14th and also Paris) and was also used in the Around the World Documentary.

Patrick's crew were using in-cam recorders but I seem to remember they only recorded the first part of the show on the 14th

Nevertheless, even if matching video does not exist, it would be a great pity if the wembley recordings were never released - the outstanding quality of Mike's performance on the 16th imho cries out to be heard - only the estate could tell you if and when " (Gearslutz 2009, one of the engineers from Wembley)

I added the gearslutz commentaries to make people understand the situation, that I've been speculating for months about with my friends. So I really hope that nocturnes productions has some more material or that they find the master tape of the Bad tour, because even tho they're fixing it with some new techniques, there should be some footage that's like the "Another part of me" video even if they use clips from other shows. Also I think that the estate should release the first leg Bad Tour even tho most of us have it in bad quality, because I know many people who'd enjoy it. We still dont have any Dvds from the Victory tour either, so they should just release the first leg tour too. I mean it's just crazy that Mike only has 1 offical Dvd!

Just curious. Where do you get these lists? Who released all these song titles? Remember a couple months prior to "Michael" album release, there have been many fan-made albums circulating on youtube. I believe one of them was called 'The Future' or something and I think it had song titles like "water", "dance 4 me", etc. I'm just saying, how do you know if these lists don't contain song names that were just made up by some fans?

Deposition 93, producers & engineers who've mentioned certain songs. Leaked songs/demos.

Haven't you noticed the list contains a lot more than just leaked demos and deposition from 93 and all that?

Which producer ever mentioned "water"?

yes, i remember "the future" lol. but no, this is not some rinkey dinky list.. please know that i did not just go on youtube and type in "michael jackson unreleased" and then just write down everything i saw.. no. what i did do was read multiple interviews from many producers, read the for the record book, and joe vogels book, and as gold dolphin said the 93 deposition and snippets of leaks.. rest assure the songs are real, and recorded.. not all may be "finished" but alot are, and then alot are demos. and there is probably 2 times that many that we dont even know about.. gets me excited when i think about it. lol

The songs Water,Bang Your Head,Broken Chair,D.I.E, H2O,Lady of Summer,Red Eye, Silent Spring were all recorded in 2008/2009, most in 2009. and they are all copyrighted from the Michael Jackson Estate.

Cool this helped a lot! If it says the song is registered as an electronic file for both music & lyrics, does that mean it's a recorded file with vocals?

it's obvious from listening, but if you needed more evidence.... this is from Rolling Stone's tribute to Michael that came out a couple of months after he passed.

Seems strange that the Estate and Sony can't match songs up to the correct era. Oh well.

When Michael was still alive, Sony put the Dangerous outtake version of "For All Time" and it's not sure if a 1982 demo version of the song even exists. They could've put "Got the Hots" and "Don't Be Messin' Around" on T25 but for some reason they didn't.

I don't understand why they didn't include it. It was scheduled to appear on Thriller 25 but pulled at the last minute.

Sony put Got The Hots on the Japan version of T25. But yeah, not sure why they didn't include that song on the US version.

That's what bothers me. I feel like The Estate/Sony thinks we're dumb and thinks we're not going to notice these things...

I don't get it either. Motown's compilations never messed up his timeline so why would Sony do that?

I can't argue that thinking but yet they still forked over $250 million to the Estate. Go figure..

What would be really cool is if the Estate had every single demo that Michael ever made in their possession, and if they had Sony release CD singles of Michael's songs. But instead of these singles having a bunch of remixes on them instead it would be all the demos that Michael recorded for that particular song. For example, say they released the single of TWYMMF but included all or most of the demos that Mike recorded from that song. It would be so interesting to hear the creative process of how that song came to be, from its embryonic stage to the full birth of the song that ended up on the Bad album. Now that would be heavenly! cloud9 mushy Oh well, a fan can always dream....
