So as it turns out, the version of "Don't Be Messin' Around" we're getting actually ISN'T from the Bad era. I'm guessing Michael wrote the song originally in the Bad era. But.... the track has writing/production credits for Brad Buxer and Michael Durham Prince. Brad didn't start working with MJ until 1989 and MDP in 1990, I think. Still amped to hear it though smile

most interesting , and best quote on this page .......i'm tired of that tired lisa marie talking....all personal shit about the man ....enough already !

now back to the most important thiing..which is music...

the version we are getting is the 2009 version? how did you know ? or you're guessing dear ?

here ...it seems that the demo is on the record ....not the 2009 version...

On June 5 in the U.S. (June 4th ex-U.S.), Epic / Legacy Recordings will re-release the original
first single from the album "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" as a CD Single with a previously
unreleased bonus track from the BAD sessions, "Don't Be Messin' 'Round (demo).

The version the Estate has is the Brad Buxer version.

For it to be released now, it would have to be registered with ASCAP or BMI for publishing and royalties purposes. The only version registered has songwriting/production credits for Brad and MDP.

I don't mean to bash Lisa Marie, but she has changed her story so many times now- I just can't believe what she says anymore.

She potrayed MJ in such a bad light before, like some big manipulative man who was controlling her.

Michael Jackson is “Bad”.. Don’t Be Messin’ is “Cool”

by Damien Shields Posted on May 30, 2012

As music lovers around the world look forward in anticipation to the 25th anniversary of the release of Michael Jackson’s multi-million selling BAD album, marked by the late singer’s estate and record label with the September 18 release of an impressive box set (including 3 CDs and a concert tour DVD), the more astute of the Jackson fans have diverted their attention to a less publicised event.

On June 5th, 2012 Sony Music, in an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart (in the US), will make available a commemorative re-issue of the lead single of BAD, Jackson’s 1987 single “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”. The song, which was the first of a historic five consecutive chart-topping singles from the BAD album, is a gorgeous duet featuring Jackson’s collaborative partner Siedah Garrett. The track will remain unedited, in it’s original form, as it appeared on the single release 25 years ago.

What makes this release so exciting for Jackson fans is that the single also contains a previously unreleased track – a demo entitled “Don’t Be Messin’ Round” – which, according to Sony Music, originates from the BAD album sessions.

Fans have known of the track’s existence for quite some time however its actual origins remain under question. In a 2008 interview Jackson’s then-lawyer Peter Lopez let slip of the recording’s possible inclusion on the 25th anniversary re-release of the Thriller album. It was reported at the time that the track was an outtake from the Thriller sessions. Either way, the creative direction of that particular release (which would become Thriller 25) changed, and the song was never made public.

Following his passing, one of Jackson’s longest-serving producers Brad Buxer registered a song, titled Don’t Be Messin’, with the US Copyright Office. Buxer and Jackson first began working together on the Dangerous album sessions in 1989, and continued a professional relationship through 2006. Buxer’s possession of the recording and subsequent registration of it would indicate that Jackson, with Buxer’s assistance, continued to work on the song long after both the Thriller and BAD albums had been completed and released..

Bruce Swedien, Jackson’s long time studio engineer and the man that recorded Jackson’s vocals spoke about “Don’t Be Messin’ Round” in a 2009 interview, in which he referred to it as a “powerful” and “mesmerizing” ballad. “Michael plays piano on it, and it’s just beautiful … Oh my God, there’s nothing like it”.

Recently I was fortunate enough to with talk to someone who is familiar with the song.
“It’s cool”, she explained. “It’s not something you’d typically expect from Michael Jackson. When you listen to songs like Smooth Criminal or Dirty Diana which come from the same era it’s understandable why Messin’ wasn’t included on Bad. It’s too different. It doesn’t fit.”
Nevertheless, I was assured that fans will thoroughly enjoy the track.

“From what I could tell”, she continued, “it hasn’t been touched up. It seems to be the way Michael left it. It sounds like something you might have heard in a classy Jazz bar back in the ’50s. That’s the mood of the song. It’s a lounge type song.”

“You can imagine Michael just sitting at the piano, in the privacy of his home, jamming for his friends and family on this one. It’s really nice.”

All speculation will be set aside in just a few short days when fans finally have the chance to hear the track for themselves.

Fans shouldn't bash Lisa. At the end of the day, they were divorced. People who are divorced tend to be bitter about it at least for a while and especially if they are asked about it by others. That's only natural. But that doesn't mean that person won't be upset when their former spouse passes away. I am sure Lisa regrets some of the things she had said. I am sure if Lisa had passed away and Michael was still here then he would have some regrets also. That's life. I believe they both cared very deeply for one another.

From what I've read, after they've divorced they still maintained a good relationship until 2003 when things started to go wrong for MJ. And I think that's when she started speaking not so nicely of him. And if that's the case you can't really say she was just bitter about the divorce.

Either way I don't particularly like her or dislike her and I also believe they were very much in love with each other. But now she's just history to me and I just really don't care what she ever says about MJ...

They're going to treat Don't Be Messin Around the same way they treated "For All Time". They kept saying FAT was an outtake from Thriller, yet we received the Dangerous outtake version. DBMA (according to Bruce) was written and recorded in 1982 and is a Thriller outtake.

This this and this! Any fan who spends their days hating on Lisa (and believe me there are MANY) is suffering from a case of jealousy because they never got to meet/talk/sleep with MJ. News flash: time to get over that stuff, guys. As amazing as Michael was, let's respect what choices he made in his life and that he was very much in love with Lisa at the time.

I personally feel offended when people make comments about her age and appearance. No self-respecting woman does that to another. And I always thought she's pretty, when married to him and after. I don't always agree with what she says regarding michael, but she knew him and bitter ex wives complain all the time and can be in pain when abandoned. Remember she still had a relationship with him for years after the marriage to some capacity and then it ended badly.

So... this has probably been discussed 2 MILLION TIMES by now. But as a big Van Halen fan i think i sometimes take for granted.

The big crossover Beat It was.... now to me i'm not a HUGE MJ fan, but i was always a fan of his more political work. But the Beat It crossover is something i don't we will see again. For an R&B artist to have crossed over in a big way to a rock market, and for arguably the biggest guitar sensation of that time to have on the song. It was a big game changer and i take it for granted sometimes razz

Not to mention the fact although VH had been big for awhile, when Thriller was coming out. They where getting HUGE and by the time the Thriller video came out VH where the biggest rock band in the world.

So yeah... just came to say even as not the biggest MJ Fan. I can't deny Beat It was perhaps the biggest R&B To rock crossover hit ever.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I agree

I love MJ songs performed on the brink of pop/rock. I like Eddie, he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Although to be honest, when I saw the live performance together Eddie and Michael in the Victory tour, I was a little disappointed ... both were not so good/

Beat it, Dirty Diana and Give in to me in my personal top 10 favorite songs of Michael Jackson. He is the one who most successfully among pop|rnb artists could enter the rock elements into his work, IMHO.

I'd be interesting if he has any footage of it because I heard he blew people away when he played some Beatles song while living in Ireland.... Mike should have def stayed there, he seemed loved and respected. biggrin

lol of course he won't because he doesn't have the vocal tracks. He only has the music. Michael kept the vocals to keep the records from being leaked.
