When you think demos, you gotta remember that a Michael Jackson demo is more complete than a average joe artist's unmastered studio track lol

Does the estate have all the unreleased material? Most likely not. Producers probably have tapes and may have not been willing to hand them over to Branca and McClain. Does that mean that there's barely anything? NOPE. You gotta think about

1. Rough demos (Like Don't Be Messin' Round, Cheater, She Got It, Shake A Body)

2. Studio demos

3. Nearly finished or complete tracks

but also alternate takes and mixes. There's a version of Blood On The Dancefloor that opens with Michael singing the first verse of Sunset Driver and a version of Can't Let Her Get Away with him rapping. He left behind a wealth of material, it's just wondering if the estate either has it or can get it but also, are they willing to release it.

The video archives, on the other hand, are a whole different issue

exactly! thats why when fans say "its probably unfinished" its like.. and "unfinished" michael jackson track is better and more complete than most artist completed tracks..and i think the estate has a good bit of the material because of how much they paid for it.. but i do think producers have alot of work too... and then like you said you have alternate versions and alternate takes of songs.. i dont really know what you mean about the "video archives" though. lol

I would think the family has at the least the demos for Destiny and Triumph.

And wasn't there a rumor that LaToya took MJ's hard drive with unreleased music after he passed? Not sure if that was true or not..

since we are on the discussion of unreleased material.

does anyone remember hearing about the songs michael recorded for his children that would not be released.. (not the 100s of unreleased outtakes and other tracks) but songs just for his children, or was the just a rumour?

That might've been a rumor.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I'm definitely in agreement that some people aren't handing over what they have to the Estate, probably in fear of them remixing the life out of it. The same thing happened with some of Tupac's material.

That could be just it. Some of Elvis' material was remixed to death after his passing.

so your going to count out all of michaels unreleased material because the estate decided to release a ROUGH DEMO? no. this track isnt even going to be on bad 25, its literally a walmart bonus.. and i for one like the track, its like a jam session of michael just coming up with ideas, i would take that over "breaking news" and "monster" anyday... as far as his "unfinished" tracks go, i have said it once and ill say it a thousand times, an unfinished michael jackson track is a gem to most artist.. songs like "best of joy" "a place with no name" "much to soon" where all unfinished, but they where completed. if that makes since.. im sure there are over 100 unrealeased tracks that are finished or close to it.. and then there are probably another 100 of rough demos like DBMA... i wish people had more faith in michaels unreleased music.

I lost faith lol

Sure this track is in million times better than the shitty fraudcascios tracks , i don't even have them on my pc , and best of joy is one of my favs....

the estate is handling this so unprpfessionally , how come they do know the timeline when songs were recorded , saying that this is from the bad sessions when it's clearly not confused what the hell........

best of joy may be my favorite song of all time. lol

and what have you lost faith in? the estate? or michaels unreleased music? i had lost all faith in the estate untill they announced bad 25, whenever i heard they would release UNTOUCHED demos and outtakes along with wembley show, i gained much more faith in the estate.

and if you have lost faith in michaels unreleased music.. please rest assure that there is enough unreleased michael jackson music to easily make another 15 maybe even 20 albums.

Totally agree, good list of songs btw! It's just a rough demo and as musician myself, it sounds like he was just putting together ideas which is what mostly happens when you record something the first time, unless you have a finished idea of a song. Best Of Joy, is a song that's mixed with James Porte so I cant take that as a 100 % Michael, I believe an engineer also questioned the song on gearslutz. People should def have more faith in Michaels work! Also lets remember the estate only owns the material they found, but lets remember that Mike got sued a bunch of times, for instance Henry Vaccaro had the masters for the original "Starlight" (original thriller) and a bunch of Jackson 5 and Jacksons song... He used to put some of the snippets on his youtube channel, but it got closed down after Mike died I believe.

The list that we put together are songs that are demos or almost finished songs, or songs that evolved into other finished tracks.

even though it has already leaked, make sure you go out and by the actual single from walmart (is only going to be like 2 dollars) because if it doesnt sell, the estate may not release any more things like this.. so make sure you get it. biggrin

Yep. But I'm wondering if this is the same song he made in the 90s? Because it's on the list of songs he made on the Dangerous sessions, so perhaps he re-worked the song in 09 to be released as a single during the This is it concerts?
