Michaelis the longest lasting solo star whether they want to admit it or not. Michaels reign lasted from 1971 - 1999. Madonnas from 1983 - 2002. Her fans bump up her time by going up to 2008 but if they dont include Invincible as part of Michaels reign (which I think is fair as it did do disappointingly) Confessions, Hard Candy and American Life shouldnt be either. Yes they had top ten hits but so did Invincible. Madonna hasnt been popular among young people since the Music era and Michael since History era ended.

I dont care! I'm sick of it constantly being said by her fans. Its not just Michael, theres a few other artists that have lasted a couple of decades.

If you hadn't noticed by now, Madonna is the most resilient pop star the world has ever seen. She can adapt to anything and is a perceptive and shrewd businesswoman. Harvard business students could learn a thing or two from her. The truth of the matter is, given the fickle nature of audiences in general, no solo pop star has ever lasted this long (into her fifties so far) and stayed at this consistently high level on a global scale.
MJ (God Bless MJ!!) could have done it, but as we all have sadly seen, he was as much a victim of his fame as he was the creator of it.

2. Thi smakes no sense, using this logic: Ringo is more well known than John Lennon and George Harrison as he's outlived them, no? Heavy D was more well known than 2Pac and Biggie because he outlived them, no? You see, that statement makes absolutely no sense.

no, but Ringo is one of the remaining living Beatles, so John and George are excluded from being one of the pop stars that's still around and also has a recent career. in MJ's case, he's dead AND also gave up on doing much of anything for the last 7 years of his life. planning and doing are much different things. he was no longer the mega force in music he was by the time of his death, even with the planned concerts that never happened. he was done long before he was gone. dude couldn't get out of his own way.

With MJ planning takes a long time. 5 years between Thriller And Bad, 4 years betwween Bad and Dangerous, 4 years between Dangerous and HIStory, 6 years between HIStory and Invincible. The planned concerts were sold out several places BTW. He never gave up he kept moving forward and if it wasn't for that damn trial he would have released another album. BTW Invincible only did bad because Sony wrongly promoted it. MJ wanted to make a 20 minute long video for Unbreakble, the lead single. Nope, they rushed him and gave him a short period to make a video for You Rock My World. Then a few months later, they stopped promoting it. Also even before his death he still was on the news tons of times for reasons not even concerning his money or allegations.
