I would say that these songs have a 'timeless' quality to them:
Live To Tell
Like A Prayer
Oh Father
Papa Don't Preach
Miles Away
Secret
Take A Bow
Frozen
Crazy For You
These songs sound like the time period they were recorded in but they're not "stuck" in those eras,in my opinion.
I agree with this.
I think so also...but I think some other songs from Ray of Light might qualify also but I have to digest them for a while before I can speak to this. Thanks for the feedback.

and is this the demo or a snippet of the actual version? only listened to the demo once a couple months ago.
I think that just might be the real thing! Sounds completely different from the leaked demo....it sounds exactly as it was described (more bass,a harder sound, rapping, etc).
Just had an interesting conversation with my son who heard me play Madonna's Ray of Light and Music LPs for the first time. I asked him what he thought of them and he said they sounded too dated--too nineties--for him. Although he is a Lady GaGa fan. Got me to thinking--what do people who have been following Madonna's music consistently on this board consider her least "dated" albums in terms of sound, lyrics, and/or relevancy that outlives a certain era?
You should've told him in response that all music is dated. That's part of their charm.
Or better yet, you could ask him another question: What did he get from that music?
Newsflash: Nobody in pop music today is doing anything new, refreshing or different.Prince certainly isn't.If that's what you expect from these people, you should just stop listening to music altogether.Madonna is doing her thing, making her money and pleasing her fans.If you don't like it,move on! Good luck trying to find something else that is truly "new, refreshing or different"...LOL

Hoe sit down!! You and rdhull was just telling me how Madonna is so refreshing and what not. Since I debunked your little bullshit theory, now you wanna come with that tired ass excuse. I don't need the wheel to be reinvented, hunny. I enjoy music from all decades including now. I'm 23, not 65 still holding onto passe childhood fantasies of old overglorified deadbeats.
I made my comment that the heffa needs to retire and it'll stand no matter who gets pissed off at it. She sucked in 1984 and she's even worse in 2011. Deal with it.
First of all weren't you in yo Daddy's nut sack in 1984?? Don't speak about things you have no knowledge of. Secondly, the funny thing is Madonna at 53 could probably outdo your 23 year old ass in every way. Thirdly, for 30 years she's dealt with people with an intense hatred (well most of the time it's jealousy) of her and regardless she's the most successful female artist in recording music history, yes even more successful than YOUR favorite female artist. You can hate her all you want but the facts are the facts. DEAL WITH IT.

You need to apologize to Soul alivefor that comment above. If you don't, Ill make you apologize by hook or by crook. Also you state that she stuck in 1984 but look at all these old tired azz players you riding for in your profile.
Favorite (other) artists:Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Sade, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston and whoever else my ears fall in love with
Not that those listed arent great artists but they haven't done nan shit since 1984 their damn selves. Im pulling the (reverse?)race card and saying you got issues with white artists such as Madonna and are mad at her still being successsful..

DING DING DING!! Just from reading posts in other threads over time I came to the same conclusion. Apparently I'm not alone in that assessment. All of those artists listed are naturally gifted, super talented and legendary but the only one that is even close to being relevant in 2012 is Sade.
Seems like there's just as many fakes with Madonna as MJ, hunh?!
I love it The fake tracklists, the incorrect details, fake artwork, the exclusive reports from "insiders"...lol....this kind of madness occurs everytime there's a new Madonna album on the way.I especially like when fans come with up nonsense like this:

What's funny is how so many of these "legitimate" news sites and blogs are fooled by these fake tracklists and album covers PerezHilton posted the above pic, claiming that it was the real deal and in 2008,Billboard (!) reported that 'Licorice' was the title of the new Madonna album. They saw this fake cover and went with it

I guess "Licorice" would be the follow-up to "Hard Candy," eh?
