Org Music Club // Thank youuuuuuuuu Monday November 10th.
So, that was it, kinda. As the last tape ran it's week, it's time to thank you all for your enthousiasm and your time, for letting us share in your musical loves. It's been a pretty wild ride and I certainly was introduced to lots of artists I am going to check out in the future. Special thanks to Sander for making this all come together and to Sexton, as he helped Moon out in such a sweet way! The most recent threads aren't locked yet and most tapes are still up, so you can always return to your fave tape and listen. I am looking forward to seeing future tape projects, maybe themed or games or whatever. Grtz, Herman ----- Welcome to The Org Music Club. Our love of Prince brought us to this site, but our limitless love for all music made us regulars in this forum. On a thread lamenting the almost lost art of mixtapes, ( http://prince.org/msg/8/270434 ) we came up with the idea of putting together a project; send each other mixtapes and discuss them on Org! The list of Orgers underneath got all excited and after some bickering we decided to use the Muxtape site (currently 8track.com) as primary tool for our game. Even though we cannot enter any new participants, everybody is of course free to join the discussions about our mixtapes. We like to share to music we love and therefore we use a site that does not enable theft. The rules for all participants! A mixtape with a maximum of ten songs. Name the compilation. Then, starting in week 28, there will be a weekly new thread with a new muxtape link and an explanation of the compiler to how, what, why, in whatever way they want. On the separate threads we can discuss the single mixtapes, on this thread we can discuss the rest! I will update this initial post with the links to the individual threads for quick reference. I apologize for being M.I.A. the last few weeks, but I will get around to reviewing the last couple of mixtapes eventually.
With 15 of the first 16 mixtape threads catching fire, I think this project has been a huge success. Thanks to everyone involved for participating!

Also for taking it on yourself to edit and re-edit the sticky for the past few months! I can't believe the last 4-5 months flew by so fast! I remember the first mix so vividly. An absolute joy to find a new mix every week, although I must say it was a bit much: digesting/reviewing ten songs every week. I was/am astounded by the diverse mix of people Prince has brought together. I would have thought our musical preferences would be a lot more similar, but it really was all over the map. On the other hand, that was our goal, to introduce new gems to other people. There are some songs/artists that I have gotten into by means of our little club, but the thing that has most impressed me was the mix as a whole and what a person had to say about his mix. Org-usernames now collide with a particular musical genre, theme or liner note. Thank you for participating, compiling, listening and generally putting in the effort into making this an educational and above all fun exercise!

Me too, I missed out on some but haven't forgotten them. I think actual cd's would get more of a listen from me. Listening on the computer doesn't quite do it for me. But I still appreciate that I heard some great stuff, and for the most part I hadn't heard any of it before! My Legacy

I think it's too soon. The current cycle is still open for replies. Let the threads come to their own conclusion and then start something new. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Maybe. I think it's great to see there's enthousiasm for a new cycle so soon. And while there'll undoubtedly be some overlap of participants, there'll hopefully also be some new names along for the ride. There's no need for them to wait until whenever we finished discussing cycle one, is there? So I say go, whenever you feel like it! Use some of the momentum there might still be around. On the other hand, people might be fed up with the weekly new mixes and need a breather! I don't know. Ahem, as you were...

This was such an amazing experience (still ongoing as Paris has just sent me the final package of cds). I've learned so much about the orgers through their mix tapes that I never would have otherwise known. The most difficult part was limiting it to 10 songs ~ I could easily have filled seven discs!!! Thank you so much Sander and Gooey and especially to Sexton ~ huge love ~ .
I still have a lot of listening and posting to do and will hopefully catch up soon. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran
