P mentioned in a recent interview having an issue with vertigo. He never once said he had a recurrence of epilepsy.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

Hey all -- I haven't posted on this topic for a while (mainly because the lack of new public info about Prince's health and/or death). I see the discussion has circled back to speculation that he had epilepsy as an adult, something that I personally find really unlikely for various reasons.

-

But on another note, I did think of Prince when I read today's announcement that the president of ESPN was resigning because he has "struggled for many years with a substance addiction." Some folks here have doubted that people struggling with addiction could hold productive, prominent jobs. This man not only led ESPN, but had his contract renewed only a couple months ago -- and did this while accountable to a boss, shareholders and subordinates and colleagues on a regular 9-to-5-type schedule, none of which Prince had to deal with.

-

Anyway, this may provoke a flurry of responses that I'm promoting an agenda, projecting my own weakness, etc. But I thought this story gave some perspective that addiction does not always fit the stereotypes that some of us have.

there is no person in the history of time that keeps prince hours withoit the use of drugs .. bowie petty prince all died ealy due to long term drug use .. prince was not a superman had no special powers .. his work rate says it all ... he may have been suffering from organ failure or pain as well .. both would be the result of long term use and possibly damaging his hips worse while on painkillers ... pills are easy to hide and of course he was publically against drugs ... loose lips sink ships ... he may have also chosen assisted suicide when the pain got too bad

Maytes story clearly shows prince hid his addictions from her .. he likely choose very young people to surround him because they are easier to lie to manipulate and keep secrets from ... i know people who deal with their “demons” exactlybthe way prince did .. cut out your friends and find young naive people who don’t know they are being manipulated

.

I was thinking about organ failure as well. If Prince was self-medicating without doctor supervision, he could have run the risk of damaging his vital organs. He was having blood tests done and I wonder if the doctor told him the results?

.

I don't agree with the suicide theory. He wouldn't want people to find him in the elevator like that.

Maybe the young crowd he hung out with were his enablers?

But, then again, Kirk was not young.

Maybe, partially. But there is a narrative I've heard Prince repeat over again over the decades, the thing about being hungry. That being a motivator. He has said that in his earlier interviews and he repeated something similar about denying appetites and refocusing them. So no, I don't think Prince surrounded himself with young people so he can hide taking pills, that's just overly simplistic. Prince motivation in life wasn't to take pills and hide it.

Another advantage to correcting a vitamin D deficiency has been seen in decreasing knee and hip pain. A longitudinal population-based cohort study of 769 randomly selected older adults aged 50-80 years found that moderate vitamin D deficiency predicts the incidence or worsening of knee pain over five years and possibly hip pain over 2.4 years.

It was reported recently on the vitamin d council website someone self-medicating mammoth amounts of the vitamin to speed up healing from a bone problem. Way way more than therapeutic dose. And the injury healed completely, much to the general physician's surprise.

I've always wanted to know why P was so pale in the early 90s?! Was it makeup or was he just completely avoiding the sun? Vitamin B12 was routinely taken by celebs back then, but not Vit D. P probably wasn't supplementing back then and he definitely looked like he spent all time indoors.

I recall reading an article where Sheila E said they would take Vit B12 shots before a performance. Yes, Vit D is crutial to health in a variety of ways still not clearly understood. I've heard of similar stories of mega-doses with Vit C bring back people from the brink of death, when all modern meds were unable to help.

No Prince was his own boss and according to his last personal assistant he worked no less then a 100 hours a week and she was working right along side him and said as a 25 year old she could not keep up. She stopped working for him back in the fall of 2015 and is adament that something happened to him after she left his employement because the man she worked a 100 hours with and who calmed her down when she felt she could no longer manage the hours was not on drugs.

She is one of a dozen or so people who are telling you they worked in close quarters with him and he was not high or in the least bit off.

Why would people continue to lie about this with all we do know and the fact that estates cannot sue for defamation?

It is obvious his problems started sometime late in 2015.

She also said she never saw him use pills so some how he managed to hid a raging pill addiction from her. Think about how absurd that is. She lived in the same houses with him. No wife would not know for sure what was with her husband. She either did not really care, is lying or was popping pills herself.

Her stories make no sense. In the end she has told us nothing about drug addition at all.

Keeping Prince' s hours and getting things done with drugs are too different things. Even after Susan Rogers said she stayed up with him for hours and worked with him and never saw him use drugs. You still think he was a raving pill head for 40 years. eek

well, we'll just agree to disagree that being the president of the most profitable division of a massive public company is a "nothing" job, and that "checking to make sure plates and glasses are clean" in your own kitchen is higher-intensity work that, unlike heading ESPN, cannot be accomplished by someone struggling with addiction.

I've just read the "Doctor D" interview (Mail Online) where he claims he sold P fentanyl patches and Dilaudid pills from '84 to '08 (just before he appeard at the Coachella Festival). IF someone had been using those meds and in the quantities Doc D claims over that long a period, I'd have been surprised if P lived beyond the age of 35, nevermind 57 years. The side-effects are horrific. Someone may have been able to hide "using" but not the effects and certainly not on stage. P's timing was never off and he controlled his bands meticulously. I am still hung up on the huge amount of fentanyl found in his liver though. If the reports of "enough to kill an elephant within minutes" are true, his body would not have had time to process that amount into his liver.

Yes, Mumio. Too many questions and not enough answers. On the one hand, I'd love to have an understanding of what happened so the endlesss questions would cease but, on the other, I've resigned myself to the fact that we'll probably never get all the info and even if we did, there would be other questions. In my heart of hearts, I wish NONE of this would have happened and there was a new album/CD on the horizon and that was the topic of conversation.

AP (8/21/2016): Official: Pills found at Prince's estate contained fentanyl
http://bigstory.ap.org/ar...d-fentanyl

-

Key points (all alleged from unnamed "officials")

  • Counterfeit prescription opioid pills were found at Paisley Park. Most were in bottles of aspirin and Vitamin C inside a suitcase and bags — including one Prince often carried with him.
  • Nearly two dozen pills in an Aleve bottle were falsely labeled "Watson 385." Acetaminophen/hydrocodone pills (e.g., Vicodin) used to legitimately carry that label, but at least one of the pills tested positive for fentanyl.
  • Some pills also contained lidocaine and U-47700 — a synthetic opioid that is eight times more powerful than morphine.
  • Some of these pills were with Prince on his April 15 flight
  • Prior to his death, Prince tested negative for fentanyl, which means he wasn't a long-time abuser of that drug, but likely took the fatal dose within the 24 hours before he died (author couldn’t verify when the “prior” drug test(s) occurred but referenced Dr. Shulenberg’s alleged April 20 and April 7 medical tests on Prince)
  • The autopsy report also shows Prince had diazepam (Valium), lidocaine and hydrocodone acids in his body
  • Prince had no prescription for any controlled substances in the state of Minnesota in the 12 months before he died

can anyone explain to me that if a few grains can kill you, how is it used in various real life medical

situations. like for instance if your perscribed it , how big is the pill if a few grains can kill?? or does

the pill contain 1 grain and the rest is something else??
