You're both underestimating the sheer evil and disrespect that characterize Warner Bros.'s attitude and actions when it comes to Prince and his fans. The only reason they made a deal with Prince back in 2014 was so that they could, one sweet glorious day, screw with us in just this way, releasing a shoddy package consisting almost entirely of stuff we already have in a digipack designed for one reason and one reason only--they're trolling us. Heck, it probably goes back to the initial contract in 1977--all just for this moment, when they made us wait, staring at our computers, waiting to see evidence that Father's Song availability was slowly, inexorably, making its way across the planet's surface, creeping ever closer to the second when we could click and buy... They really do hate us that much. Really. For true.

Jeez. Warner doesn't hate anyone. They are not "evil". They are, big surprise, a record company that wants to make, HAS to make money. And, big surprise, they have to look at costs. And we are NOT the only target group they want to sell to, HAVE to sell to, if we were, good luck with making any money. And they surely would like to release lots of stuff, remastered from the original tapes, but who knows how the situation is with the estate and where that shit even is at PP or his house or whereever. And if they were to wait with releasing ANYTHING until it's all figured out, everything categorized, they better hire some people, dealing with calls of 100 complaining orgers everyday. All this isn't easy and especially not with anything regarding Prince, because you KNOW he didn't care about getting all this in order.

All very valid points. And certainly Warner could just be a record company trying to make money and doing the best they can in a less than perfect situation in which a never completely cooperative artist died leaving a mess for an estate that he didn't even leave a will to establish. I can see where a reasonable person might come to that conclusion, since it is the direction all the evidence points.

But, and I suggest this with all seriousness, maybe you should consider another possibility: Warner is trolling us because they hate us, and have been doing so since the 1970s, if not before. Don't have a closed mind to the possibility, please.
