Taking another look at the footage I think there's a high chance the instrument wasn't meant to land on the floor when he threw it.

Thanks for excited for pointing out this.

Whether it was a guitar or a guitar pick, it was rude.

Not impressed with that behavior at all.

Probably not nearly as bad as discovering Prince remodelled your house while he was renting it and made it tacky as hell. lol

So you implicate Prince settled at the condition of nondisclosure?

Thus wiping his past once again....!!

Do you?

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand your question.

I'm not implying anything else than that some of the earlier posts by Captain Kirk Douglas might have reflected his initial anger over the incident and that they've already discussed the incident and settled it.

I certainly have not referred to any sort of legal actions myself.

But please don't make that stop you from trying to make it seem like I did.

Settling is out of court and can be done entirely without court or whatever.

Just show the damage to mr P.

Tell him to compensate.

Mention his bad karma at the courthouse.

Receive cash.

great performance. the solos were very well performed. Im surprised that prince gave home girl some solo time on the guitar. .. had "bambi" in my head all day lol.

the guitar throw- i love when ever Prince does this . Its so bad ass and rock n roll. but to break anothert musicians guitar is just bad taste. dude had no right, but thats how prince is, he can be a jerk. and for some strange reason thats another reason why im so down with the purple yoda...... I seen Kirk perform before and he is great at what he does.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Sorry, I missed your reply. I just noticed the one made by excited.

After watching it a few times I'm pretty convinced this is what happened. He throws it far too high up in the air for the intention to have been to simply break it. In that case he probably wouldn't have thrown it towards the audience at all. It also explains why Kirk Douglas seems to have retracted his posts about it so quickly.

Good stuff for TV though.

I think it was a great performance (Prince at Jimmy Fallon), but I think Jack has got Prince wanting to show off his tricks too. I've been comparing Jack to Prince since Jack came on the scene.

Yeah, for sure, but he's failing, and badly. In regards to the band as a unit on Fallon, I thought the performance was awful. That damn beginner-level drummer was atrocious. The guitar player was alright, but seemed rushed and very nervous. That nonchalant bassist, while excellent in skill, played as if she's only tolerating this juvenile setup for a check. And then this Captain Kirk guy's guitar gets broken in a corny tantrum.

So once again, Jack makes Prince look like an old man waving his fist in the air towards a television at a retirement center.

lol You hit the nail on the head. The drumming was pretty riddled. Best performance I've seen from the guitarist, but still--like you said. Ida looks like she's leading around kindergardeners.

Still, Prince made up for everyone, especially on Bambi. The guy is just without equal--effortless.

Yes, this seems very logical. And Prince, if he hasn't already, will probably make quiet amends.

If he doesn't, then, well, regardless of what else we don't know, this would seem in extremely poor taste.

I can't believe there are people who think Prince would intentionally break another musician's instrument and just walk away.

Only Prince can answer whether he intentionally break another musician's instrument but why toss another musician's instrument in the air, knowing it's possible it could be damaged even if there was someone to catch it?

All I know is that I'm too sensitive/empathetic (working on it) and if it were me and I got caught up in the excitement of the moment with my normal patterns of behavior, in that split second I would probably both consider attempting a Jerry Rice miracle reception in the back of the end zone with time expired in the Super Bowl or continuing on in the roll of rock star while walking off the stage wearing a cringe upon my head far larger than my fro.

The truth, at least some of it, we'll come out soon enough.

On a certainly more jovial tip, I quite enjoyed how the bass player behind Kirk was laughing heartily right after it happened.

That would have endeared him to Prince. nod

you're completely clueless.... guitars are special things.. you can have two of the same model and they won't be the same... i have guitars that i've bonded with to such a degree that no guitar could replace them

it was a prick of a thing to do... end of story

yes... i'm mad about this

Okay, but not everybody feels a desire to "endear" themselves to Prince.

I don't know the details behind this guitar-smashing incident, nor do I know what meaning this particular guitar might have to Kirk...for all I know, this guitar might have sentimental value and Prince treating it the way he did (even breaking it by accident) was hurtful. Throwing money at a situation doesn't always "fix" what happened.

Prince would have had a shitfit had somebody accidentally broken one of his treasured guitars. He files lawsuits at the drop of a hat. I'm amused by those who don't have all the pertinent details of this situation (as in, how special this guitar might be to him or what type of arrangement he and Prince made about Prince using his guitar) yet sneeringly say Kirk should somehow be honored that Prince broke his guitar.

This might have all been an unfortunate accident, and I hope Kirk and Prince get everything ironed out...but I'm with those that say that if Prince wanted to toss around a guitar, he should've just used his own.
