" (WAS IT MY) FACE ???" ...from the New Morning aftershow in Paris, 1987. To this day, I still don´t really know if it´s a cover or an original Prince tune. Let alone the real name of it. I saw this vinyl bootleg at a record fare 4 years ago and the cover said"Wasn´t My Faith" which doesn´t really make much sense. I looked it up a couple of times ( in books or on the net or in Uptown) but never really found a satisfying answer regarding the correct title and or whether it´s a cover or not.
Maybe some of you know more about that song ???
Another favorite blues is The Undertaker ( the version on the video) and "Blues in C" from the Lovesexy tour..and of course his cover of When Will We B Paid ?...
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

"Wedding Feast" is NOT a blues song. Some of you guys say the same tired things over and over expecting a laugh. Notice next time you're the only one laughing!

=====

I agree, it was stupid sad

Not stupid, but not a BLUES song just the same! Just consider it a "comedic warning" no actual crime was commited, but next time you're going DOWN, bud! wink
And that goes for any one who makes another Kirky J, Wedding Feast, Larry Graham, JW, Abe Lincoln,Crystal Ball fiasco, comment that has been done to death already!
Find new things to make fun of! Like subyduby!

question we can still make NPS jokes though, right?

it's a toss up between Bles in C or the ride. I love the twist in the lyrics in Blues in C that is indicative of blues songs,b ut the solo on the ride(CB version), is killer.

There are plenty of blue's tinged Prince trax that I love. The Ride, of course, Shhh is another one. 5 Women is one of my fav non-hits by far. I think one of the best showcases for Prince's blues guitar abilities is the Blues Medley on the Rave 2000 DVD.

There's this bootleg track where he starts off saying "Blues in G" It kicks majorly, but my Napster download cuts off.
If anyone know where to find this track, I will gladly kiss any body part they choose as a sign of my everlasting gratitude!
I also like "Volkswagon Blues".
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

I agree....and "Purple House" (obviously Prince's adaption

of the

song "Red House").....That's the kind of Blues I'm

talkin' about people! But, whatever.

I think Prince's performance of "Wasn't My Face (or Faith)"

is a cover of a Stevie Wonder song.....If Pfunkjazz knows

different, don't worry y'all, I will be corrected!

I think that many of you are wrong. A blues has a "strict" musical pattern. Zannalee, The Ride, 5 Women, for example, are blues. Other songs like Question Of U or Nothing Compares 2 U cannot be clasified as blues. I don´t think that the listener can turn into blues anything he hears.

if it can be considered blues (in a stretch), "Joy in Repetition." P is doing some really strong blues playing on the "cleaner" guitar. The overdriven guitar is all Santana-land, I know (even though that includes some bluesy stuff), but the clean guitar makes ya wanna sit down and weep.

Witness -- dude's playing some bluesy, Hendrixy stuff.

The Ride (Crystal Ball) -- because of that really cool descending scale he does near the end.

The piano runs he throws in the midst of "Under the Cherry Moon" (I kid you not)!

the Hendrix-inflected playing he lays down on "Had U!" Oh my gosh. First time I heard that one, I was like, "Dude, where's the rest of the song????"
