5 Women and Blues in C(If I Had A Harem) are Prince's two best blues songs.

It has to be "5 WOMEN" The song just ooozes the Blues, especially the way I feel at the moment, however I'm on about number 7 still can't get her off my mind though, but sometimes in rains in April!

The ride is awful, boring and derivative. The top 3 Prince blues songs are

1.Alphabet St (Lovesexy) Not the shitty bland "blues" version

2.Peach
3.I Wonder

The blues is a three chord genre. Anyone can play it. What makes it the blues is the songs are sorta depressing and you as the listener want to sit, nod your head, and sip on your drink. Alphabet Street and Peach are dance numbers. The Ride falls into this category because the storyteller wants to pick up someone because s/he is lonely and need a quick pick me up... but will still have the blues.

psavage you can get a tad bit over this woman if you write a song or complete album about her like Maxwell did with his Urban Hang Suite album. Try it.smile And remember, no two women are alike. You will never find in them what was in her, so approach each relationship with an open mind and heart.

Blues is just as much about getting laid. ZZ top are a blues band, all their songs are about sex, cars and getting drunk. Peach is pure blues! The three i picked are definitely blues songs, no doubt about it. To call Peach a dance number is crazy.

I dance to Peach... and Mayte did too. Peach is not a song I want to do the do too.smile And every ZZ top song that was Top 40 in the U.S. were dance numbers.

Most of these songs you're all mentioning, aside from 5 Women and The Ride, are not REALLY blues, even though many of them are "bluesy."

As far as the best "bluesy" Prince song, my vote is for "The Question Of U" and "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore." "Kiss," although following a blues chord progression quite closely, doesn't really FEEL like blues because of it's strict 4/4 time and dance beat. But it's my favorite of the three I've mentioned.

you all seem to be forgetting the old albums, Alot of prince, For you, Dirty mind and Controversy had a lot of Bluesy issues. Remember Still waiting. Or even the Albums by Mavis Staples! they were full of blues numbers. The man can do it all!

While we're on the subject of blues. Can't nobody top Mr Ben Harper in this league.

Perhaps you don't agree, but I think that his voice is just MADE for singing blues. Man wrote some haunting songs.

Beautiful.

I'd love 2 see him do a song with Prince.

damn... your experience with the blues must be very, very limited... i suggest you try buddy guy's "when my left jumps" and lightnin' hopkins's "lightnin' don't feel too well"... those are haunting friggin songs...

I don't want to seem controvercial...but to some of you commenting that Prince doesn't have many blues songs....How can you call yourself a fan, and believe that? Prince has MANY blues songs. I think much of his life has been expressed in the blues songs he has written/composed, coupled with all of his other music, (funk, pop, rock, etc) I think Prince IS his music, and his music IS him....And A LOT of his music WAS (& some still is) blues-ish, even a lot of the funk and rock had blue undertones...again, this is my opinion...peace and much luv 2 u all..Rachel
