so basically, unless you look like Pamela Anderson or Chris Evans, ur fucked?

Iman isn't sub saharan African, which is what we're really talking about here. She has fine European features and a slim European friendly figure.

In mainstream celebrity terms yes you're semi-fucked should you be blacker than Halle Berry or Beyonce. While every one can find attentions somewhere the stats suggest black women are least able to find spouses while black men choose to date interracially in ever increasing numbers.
[Edited 4/28/09 8:23am]

WT? eek Perhaps you should do some research DSoul. Fine European features? Iman has high cheekbones, and a slim type face. That is not limited to European features dear. Have you ever seen the facial characteristics of people of the Sans Bushmen tribe of the Kalahari desert in South Africa? They are the oldest living descendants of the human race encompassing all the features of the human race. Many of them have almond shaped to very slanted eyes and high cheekbones, and vary in complexion, and they are the world's oldest living culture dating back over 100,000 years. According to some genetic scientists, the Sans Bushmen encompass most of the majority of the facial features of the human race. You see those same facial features in many asians and natives (native american ancestry).

There's a lot of Africans in my neighborhoods and they marry within, and are very tight-knit family wise. Rarely do they even marry Black American females born within the states who are not born in Africa or have direct, African roots affiliated with a specific African ethnic group. Although you have some Africans who don't follow those customs and marry outside of their ethnic group. So yes their Black African women are held in high regard to them. Not every race/culture falls into the stupidity, ignorance and assinine idea of what some hollywood dimwits consider "beauty" for the rest of the world.

Has anybody considered that Prince may have been rejected by a dark skinned black women? It takes two to tangle. I say this because most black women prefer dark skinned men. Its a possibility that Prince may have liked a dark skinned lady and was rejected. I know its hard for most orgers to believe because people on here believe that every woman wants Prince. Men tend to hold grudges when they're rejected. Also, Prince is short and thats not a plus for women, either.

Dennis Rodman has said that he was rejected by alot of black women,so he now refuses to date them.I think they don't date him because he's too weird (lol, just kidding).

And kissing his ass....Prince is a colorstruck jerk,I'm sick of ya'll not calling him on it.
Because Bria has "good hair" and light skin, she gets all this attention,he "flaunts" her,and is part of the 3-cd set, talent or not.
Chelsea Rodgers-who looks like that-gets a website, models in perfume ads,get a song with her first & last name in the title,AND if that's not enough,he goes on & on at his site about how he can't help but stare cause she's supercute.
He takes the Twinz to the fashion shows....more flaunting.

Now,hmmm, let's see what did Tamar & Shelby J. get?
Oh,they get to sing with him.but that's basically it.
They have to know how to REALLY SANG,cause he isn't going to have any other use for them, but Bria doesn't have to have a strong voice, her album comes out anyway, but Tamars' didn't.
Tamar and Shelby don't get called supercute as far as I know, and he hasn't done anything else to glorify their kind of beauty.

Don't forget he had a black girlfriend in high school(Kim Upsher, anyone?)but soon as he became famous, those kind of women aren't good enough to have on his arm anymore.

He's sending us a message, stop actin like ya'll don't see it..Latin,Arab,Indian,bi or multiracial is fine, but if your racial makeup dosen't give you flowy hair down to your waist, stay back,I'm too fine for you.

Although your message is rough in a couple of spots, I have stated more than a few times on this board that I believe Prince is VERY hypocritical and confused when it comes to his depiction of beauty standards and color. He can be so poignant and reflective about life, society and the errors of man, yet so blind when it comes to his own actions of isolation. As a 34-year-old, brown-skin Black woman, I've LOVED Prince since I was 10! That's basically 24 years now that I've been idolizing this man. However, I've always been saddened by his obvious color issues. Songs like Colonized Mind are amazing, but sadly, it's a song punctuated by his own.

I don't think that's why people are so riled up regarding Prince and his color issues. His personal life is his business. The fact is that he conveys messages that would have people believe that his inner sanctum is a racial nirvana where race and skin color don't matter. However, it loses veracity when most of the women that he exalts for their beauty or works with in any measurable capacity, look a certain way. Yes, he understands marketing i.e. the bi-racial parentage marketing myth he deployed in Purple Rain. He understands that racially-ambiguous people of color have always been largely more favored and palpable to the masses. However, knowing this, doesn't exactly obliterate the sting, nor does it excuse Prince from at least acknowledging it.

To cut to the chase how many people of any ethnicity really have dark skinned, african featured, nappy haired women as their preference?

The cultural beauty standards we're all programmed by were set long before Prince came along and will contine long after.

eek Checkmate! This comment speaks volumes of the historical brainwashing and limited exposure, that need to be erased. What exactly are "African-featured" women? Africa is a large continent, comprised of beautiful women with vastly different physical features. Just the other day I was watching an African beauty pageant on the African channel on cable. There were women from South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, Cameroon, Algeria, Somalia and they were some of the most beautiful women I've seen. They ranged in hair texture, length, skin tone etc, eye color and facial features that went from very full and broad to thin lips and thin noses. The woman who won had very dark skin and dark eyes. She was beautiful. However, it amazed me how many of the photographers who were drooling over them were European! Unfortunately, the Black community doesn't place women who look like this on a pedestal as often as it should.

Again, i don't condone or condemn Prince for showcasing a light skinned chick when he himself is light skinned and green/hazel eyes on top of that. I can cut the bruh some slack when he's picking women who are somewhat racially ambiguous.

Its not like he's Quincy Jones who has frequently sported and been married to blonde blue eyed chicks. Its not like he's Tiger Woods whom to my knowledge has never dated anybody that was of the same skin tone as he yet alone racial background. Its not like he's Robert Dinero whose only dated women of a certain ethnic group. Prince may not be practicing hard core diversity (dating every ethnicity under the sun) when it comes to women he romances/produces/puts up in the video but he's not discrimanatory (sp) either. Uh except maybe Asian women. I can't recall one at the moment. confused

He definitely has a type and that type is best-categorised as "ambiguous ethnicity".

But, just as Susan Moonsie, Robin Power and Nona Gaye are exceptions to the rule, so were Susannah Melvoin and Kim Basinger...

He never dated the similarly milk-white Sheena Easton. He may have had a "thing" with Madonna - who knows?.. So, two confirmed relationships with two obviously white women (Susannah and Kim) are the exceptions to the rule, rather than his other relationships with women of colour (regardless of their shade).

It's just really not that worth worrying about.

Sheesh, when is someone black enough? You can't even be it a 100 percent (whatever that means) without people saying you're not black enough because you don't have these certain kinds of features or have the wrong ancestry.

I've come to understand that being "truly" black has not as much to do with skincolor as with features and attitude. Being black seems to have a lot to do with expectations and preconceptions.

another weird thing about his relationship with Kim is that she is 5 years older than he is. He also did not make a fool out of her by making her her own c.d. and comparing her artistry to Sade who is a favorite with critics. I feel bad for Bria. I don't think she was ready to be critiqued like an artist of International recognition. I hope she had built up a thick skin before the release of this c.d.! eek

actually, I thought Tamar wrote that herself. I thought it was pretty much a formed thought/idea and Prince just "fleshed it out" and recorded, which is why Tamar got credit for it as well as Prince.
