We are so excited, shame nobody else is, to announce that our brand new and unique shite exhibit from Prince was a huge success! The response was amazing, boasting only staff and hangers' on who came together to make the opening party at the San Francisco Art Exchange in downtown San Francisco a wonderful farce.

Prince has never released artwork like this before, he used to know better, so naturally the response has been almost non-existant! Collectors as well as buyers from around the world have ignored one or more limited edition prints from this inspiring body of tosh to use in their personal collections or toilets of their own. One collector insisted on purchasing all 7 pieces for his collection! Before being escorted back to his secure psychiactric hospital bed, given some medication and strapped down for his own good.

Additionally, many LotusFlow3r members haven't shown even the slightest interest. LotusFlow3r members saved $150 or more off their fine art purchases! Simply by ignoring Lotushow3r.

Keep in mind, these are exclusive fine art prints with a limited production of only 99 per image. They are all signed by Prince's lead designer, Anthony Malzone alongside the iconic Prince Love Symbol which has been hand embossed into each print. Each piece measures 24" x 36" and is printed as a giclee digital print using high quality archival inks on acid free archival paper, so they shouldn't burn your arse if you choose to wipe using these.

As mentioned, this is the first time Prince has released anything like this. Hopefully the last. The project falls perfectly in place with his unbound creative impulses to explore his Narcissistic tendancies, new media and participate with his fans. Ignoring the fact that they'd much rather HEAR something from this MUSICIAN instead of being offered ridiculously priced over indulgent 'postcards'.

As a member, you can still use your code to apply a 15% discount upon purchase at the San Francisco Art Exchange website at check-out. Just follow the prompts. Then get yourself along to the Doctors, tell them what you've done and you should be sectioned as quickly as possible and given the appropriate medication... Deliveries are being processed on a first come first serve basis. Until, after a few years of no-sales, they will be incorporated into some stage backdrops, of course, if you have already purchased one or more of these images, congratulations! wink

biggrin Nicely done.

www.coldplay.com - selling off old instruments, stage wear etc... people are bidding ridiculous amounts already (Only 2 hours in to a 10 day auction) eek 32 bids for the globe on the Parachutes album cover £2200

Was this the first draft of the official press release? Prince and his damn 'editing'.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I just wish LotusFlow3r.com had offered a contest or sweepstakes for at least one copy of each of the prints to be given to members. Most of us simply cannot afford $850. If I could, I would have purchased one - no doubt.

According to the gallery owner in the webcast a lot of orders were taken mostly from overseas. So someone thinks they are going to be valuable.

Unfortunately, people buying from abroad means nothing.

There's rich people who will buy anything, and there's hardcore fans who'll stretch to $1000, but do you think they're going to sell 693 prints, by an unheard of designer/artist, for $1000!?
There's only the Prince link that gives them any value, but he hasn't signed them!

I've ranted a few times about these prints but I honestly don't have a problem if people want to spend $1000 for them, if folks are happy and can afford that... fine.
I just know that there are folks out there who will buy them even though they can't really afford to spend that kind of cash on a print. I hate to see people losing money which they can't afford and that is my only problem with this latest venture.
They are certainly not worth buying as an investment. You will probably see them for $200 or less in years to come. The only way to justify the price tag would be if they were actually signed by Prince as he doesn't sign autographs anymore but even then it would still be expensive compared to similar prints by other bands/artists.

I've said it numerous times before and I'll say it again because this whole issue just goes to show what I've been saying is true...either Prince himself or somebody in his camp that's running things, thinks Prince's fans are gullible cashcows!!

They are truly under the impression that all they have to do is throw Prince's name and/or likeness on something and it's...

CA-CHING!!!

Mooooo!

Unfortunately, for the fans that deserve better...they're right!

Now I don't care for this particular work, but it really doesn't matter if you "just" do it on a computer or paint it on a canvas. the two processes are JUST as valid. I've seen crap on canvas and genius on screen...and vice versa. Don't get so hung up in how something is produced as whether you like the art or think it's a fair price.

They are just as valid to YOU, not to me.

And I guess it doesn't matter anyway because I don't think it's a fair price.

Didn't know the good Dr. had live feed from the exhibit until today, but enjoyed seeing the framed, displayed artwork and the good turnout. I thought the ltd. prints were $1,000.00 with a 15% discount if you were a member of lotusfow3r. Does anyone know if the $1,450.00 price Sara showed was for a matted and framed print? I hope Prince follows through with a Montruex Dvd too. Did anyone catch the comment that was made by Anthony (I believe) about some other art work that Prince was collaborating on with someone else? If so, wonder what's going on with that? I would consider the four bills GiGi made mention of for Anthony's work and probably a little more if Prince put his signature on them, but I wish Prince would be a bit realistic about the economy today and the people that have supported his music from the very beginning. Many, if not most of us have families and responsibilities that prevent us from indulging in things that cost this much. If the DVD becomes available, perhaps most could afford that. Still lovin'the muzak and fond memories P.!!

I'm talking the art world at large, not just your personal opinion. I assume you either are not an artist or do traditional media only to have such a narrow opinion? And I agree it is overpriced. The guy needs to build a body of work if he expects such a high payout. Not just an embossed symbol.

At the end of the day, it matters whether us lowly mortals think about it. If I am going to shell out a grand, I don't want some print off someone's computer.

Well, there's always an alternative. My alternative involves a couple clicks and a save button. I've got the pictures (they do make lovely screen backgrounds), and it cost me $0.00 bucks. Just a little less than what this "art" is worth to me. wink

I plan to take a somewhat similar approach to Prince's music from now on. At least until I feel I've well and truly collected $77 worth of material.

I think its nice that Prince give an amateur artist a break, and unsophisticated photoshop art has a place especially if its at least charming or witty (Malzone's art is neither), but this is just not my cup of tea.

Naw, think what you want about Kinkade and his crass commercialism, his art is pretty solid and definitely not the work of an amateur or someone who makes due on whimsy or charm to make up for lack of talent.
