do you think maybe, just maybe, that we shouldn't be so eager to swallow every piece of bait Prince throws at the public?

Beatles fans get box sets

Beck fans get new music off his web site for free

Bjork fans get endless singles and remixes and B-sides

Hendrix, Grateful Dead and Doors fans get official bootleg releases

Bob Dylan fans get quality music both old and new

Led Zep fans get multi-DVD concert releases

Michael Jackson and Madonna fans get tons of stuff (albeit not that well thought out, yet they get it all the same)

Pearl Jam and Black Crowes fans get instant concert CDs

Miles Davis fans get endless box sets and lately a 70+ CD/DVD box set with original replicas of album sleeves

and what do we get? please tell me? I joined here to have a voice, I have listened to Prince since the early 80s, saw Purple Rain in Los Angeles when it came out, saw him live in 88 and 92, bought all the music he put out, but never ever any merchandise.

I stupidly joined Scrotusflow3r.com and have basically forgotten about it. I just don't ever sit on a computer and watch Prince videos, wear t-shirts or stand in line to buy a ticket (not for anybody). I just want the new music I love, and it isn't happening,

Thank you for putting it in some context, finally...
Thank you for your first sentence, especially...

Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!

And PS @ NuPwrSoul: I don't even expect the man to record new stuff to make us happy, i just expect him to put something from his massive archive on that site to make us feel better. In this respect, he could go for a 3-year time-out and still satisfy us. Him being "active" doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the site being "quiet", nothing. And yes, you might be right about some content when renewals are in question. But then I HOPE EVERYBODY here knows how to show him a finger... confused

Ok, agree Lotusflow3r doesn't spoil us as we are used to. But cause things are slow, doesn't make me think we will not get more in future. Prince will always produce music. Maybe we are too greedy, and he decides to give "no more candy" (quote of this song): Too much haters on the internet !!!

But did all artists above produce about 40 albums since 1978. Look at your CD and VHS/DVD collection, we've got lot of exclusives.

Crystal Ball; Chocolate invasion, C-Note, Xpectation, The slaughterhouse, 11 1-hour audioshows, loads of weekly video's en downloads during npgmc; we've got frontrow-tickets, we've got acces to soundchecks and aftershows. CD's for free at concerts, concerts on TV, exclusive vinyl releases.

Maybe if we back off a little the man will step forward again. I hope and trust on that

I pretty sure that's just the Blue Cloud, in B&W.

The black cloud was used twice - during Parade (with exposed wood neck) and during Batman (all black).

I think it has to be the Black Cloud since the Blue Clouds had white pick-up covers and this one has (probably) black pick-up covers as did both Black Clouds.

Non-painted fretboard, black pick-up covers - 1986:

Live in SF, will walk over to the "Prince Art" show at Union Square and let U all know what I think about it... I dabble in art myself so I'm pretty picky! I hope Prince comes back to play at the Orpheum here soon! biggrin

1978-2009 - I count at least 36 CDs worth of new music - all of the studio albums, all of the soundtracks (except girl 6), crystal ball, the truth, the vault. This doesn't count the music from the various versions of NPGMC, the live albums, Kamasutra, NEWS, the madhouse CDs, or the various hits packages, some of which included new material.

To pick one example off of your list, exactly how do Michael Jackson fans get tons of stuff? He only released 10 studio albums, the first was way back in 1972, and one of the 10 was mostly a compilation (HIStory). And the Jackson 5 released 15. Prince released as much new music this year as Michael Jackson did in the past 21 years.

Guys, that's basically you're saying we already got so much music from the guy that he's fine with charging us money for giving us the same stuff again. I agree it's cool to see him being that productive, but having released 30 albums in the past is one thing, with not delivering anything to paying fans in the present being another.

That's not what I was saying, I didn't agree other artists give there fans more. And prince did deliver everything promised during promoting the site. Ok, we are used to loads more stuff, I agree on that.

I know all material mentioned by me are past now, but we had to wait for NPGMC very long, in this period fans also were disappointed in getting nothing.
You know back then in future NPGMC gave us loads of downloads and exclusive CD, vinyl, frontrowtickets, aftershows and acces to soundchecks.

This is how Prince works, I agree it's a pain in the confused sometimes, but what I wanted to say are famous words in these forum for years, we have to wait and see what future brings. Now you can buy a daimond book with a Prince I-pod for about $2000. I'm sure we will get exclusives in future, it's just around the corner.Prince always kept on delivering music (also exclusive to his fans). So I trust the 99 cent or exclusive downloads will come.

But let's stick to the subject; and buy those exclusive artworks with discount biggrin

Dr.FB:

We got an update from someone who called the gallery who will be hosting The Art of Prince event that will take place in San Francisco in early December.

He even found out the price of the Prince prints. Want to find out? See me after the jump.

When the person called they found this information that I guess is public;

The Prince prints will be going for about $1,000 dollars a piece and there will be a 100 only of each print.

Now, keep in mind, these prints appear to be limited and will also be signed by the artist, Anthony Malzone, and may not be something you are going to find just anywhere. In all honesty, events like these are more for art collectors and say people who collect art of musicians more so than say your average fan, so it is understandable.

Maybe they will have postcards like a gallery did in New York a couple of years ago that featured photos of Prince right before he was releasing records. A great girl sent me some of those postcards a couple of years ago and that was really cool of her.

For those that may not be able to afford the $1,000 dollar artwork, we hear from a funkenbaby in Minnesota that Prince’s latest 3 cd set Lotusflower Lotusflow3r will be sold at Target the day after Thanksgiving for $6.50 and I think it would make a pretty good stocking stuffer.

There will be a 100 of each print and each a $1,000. A lot of stuff is up in the air but when we find out, I will let you know.

Hmm. I wonder with the Cd’s being so low, will Prince get back in the top 10 or maybe hit number 1 this time around? Oh wait. That means Billboard would actually have to count ALL the CD sales this time. Soundscam indeed.-Dr.FB

P.S. Anthony, if you find an extra hanging around after the exhibit, give me a call. It would look great on one of my walls. Just playing

since when? CDs are often discounted, especially the week they are released. And those sales certainly count.

I seriously doubt albums in the bargain bin count towards charts.

In any case: charts are irrelevant nowadays.
