Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

Denver Nuggets 101 Golden State Warriors 115

Though Golden State was up by 10 points by halftime over the Denver Nuggets, Warriors point guard Stephen Curry injured his ankle, so coach Mark Jackson considered pulling him from the game. Curry responded to him that he could still play, and boy did he ever. He opened the the third quarter with five 3-point shots and scored 22 of his game hgh 31 points in that quarter, shooting 10 of 16 from the floor, as Golden State would win this game in a rout. Jarrett Jack added 21 points for the Warriors with nine assists and five rebounds. Ty Lawson led the Nuggets with 26 points while Andre Iguodala added 19 points. The Nuggets, who went on a huge winning spree at the end of thr regular season and looked like they could contend for the NBA title, now find themselves going home to fight for their playoff lives.

Golden State leads series 3-1.

still wondering what would have happen if Kobe had played the playoffs

we'll never know...

LA destroyed their chances this season when they hired Mike D'Antoni, who gave us one of the absolute worst coaching jobs of at least the last 10 years. Hell, Randy Pfund did a better job in the playoffs, and Del Harris got more out of his talent, than D'Antoni did.

And the visionary who hired him will Snyderize the franchise.

I saw enough of D'Amdummy when he coached the Knicks. He can never adjust his system to fit the talent at his disposal.

I bet the Knicks would have if swept if J.R. didn't have a knucklehead moment. Inexcusable in the playoffs. Hopefully the lesson was learned.

Let me say this, Dwight Howard shouldn't be a Laker next season. This dude doesn't have the back bone to carry a team for any period of time. Howard is best on a team where he's a supporting player.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 5

Chicago Bulls 91 Brooklyn Nets 110

The Chicago Bulls had a golden opportunity to close out this series, but they would have to do it without their point guard Kirk Hinrich, who sat out the game with a calf injury. The Nets, playing with desperation, took advantage of the situation and outrebounded the Bulls throughout the game. Outside of the opening three minutes of the game, Brooklyn led the entire game, though they were not able to bust the game open until around the two minute mark of the fourth quarter, when Gerald Wallace hit a 3 point shot and then stole a Nate Robinson pass to make an easy fast break bucket to seal the victory. The Bulls played hard but looked lethargic at times, which may have been the result of the triple overtime game two days prior. Brook Lopez led all scorers with 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Derren Williams scored 23 points and dished out 10 assists. Andray Blatche was effective off the bench for the Nets, scoring 13 points. Nate Robinson led the Bulls with 20 points and eight assists while Jimmy Butler added 18 points. However, Carlos Boozer was held to just 10 points, and Luol Deng only scored 12 points on 6 for 14 shooting.

Chicago leads series 3-2.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 4

Indiana Pacers 91 Atlanta Hawks 102

The Pacers looked to put away their horrid performance in Saturday's game, and while they put in a much more spirited effort this time around, they still would end up losing their eleventh straight contest in Atlanta. The Hawks would storm out to a 17 point lead in the second quarter, thanks to Josh Smith, who led all scorers with 29 points plus 11 rebounds, and former Chicago Bull Kyle Korver, who scored 19 points in this game. Al Horford would add 18 points for the Hawks. The Pacers brought it back close in the third quarter, but they just didn't have enough to catch the Hawks. Paul George led the Pacers with 21 points and 12 rebounds, yet while the starters for Indiana all scored in double didgits, their bench was non-existent, as they scored a total of 19 points.

Series tied at 2-2.

Dwight needs to get out of LA and away from that lame-ass coach Mike D'Amdummy. As we all know, his system is not big-man friendly. Houston would be a better fit.

As for the Nuggets, they can't blame their playoff woes on Carmelo anymore, lol.

That's very true uP'
Irrespective of D'Antoni's weakness of drawing up a system to compliment and integrate big-man skills set...
Mr, Howard has proven once again he's mentally soft; it's useless to try to make or think this 25 year old man can lead a team, Superman he is not... he's a "Robin". Howard should have stayed in Orlando.

You guys are hilarious blamingDantoni for Lakers problems, here's a recap of Lakers last 3 seasons.

2011-Swept by Mavs in 4 games-2nd round coached by Phil Jackson

2012-Dumped by Thunder in 5 games-2nd round coached by Mike Brown

2013-Swept By Spurs in 1st round-barely qualify for playoffs with 2 best players healthy most of the year, coached by Dantoni

Let's see.We have 3 established head coaches including the great Phil Jackson.Mike Brown led underwhelming Cavs team to the finals.Dantoni had success with the Suns.Maybe the problems ain't much so coaching, but an old, unathletic, fading roster.Just hire another coach and see if things change differently next year.LOL

lol So is he blameless?

2011-Swept by Mavs in 4 games-2nd round coached by Phil Jackson

. . . After playing in 3 straight Finals. You realize they played nearly 4 seasons of basketball in 3 years, right?

Oh . . . and with a coach who had prostate cancer.

Apples, meet oranges.

2012-Dumped by Thunder in 5 games-2nd round coached by Mike Brown

. . . In a series in which they held a 4th quarter lead in 4 of the 5 games, and with an aging roster, played back-to-back playoff games, which almost never happens. Last year's roster was worse than this year's roster and Mike Brown managed to win a playoff series and be marginally competitive in the next.

2013-Swept By Spurs in 1st round-barely qualify for playoffs with 2 best players healthy most of the year, coached by Dantoni

Granted. D12 had a major injury, Nash suffered a serious injury in the preseason, Jordan Hill suffered a season-ending injury and Blake a freak injury.

But let us also consider that D'Antoni's system required a lot of old legs to log a lot of minutes . . . fertile ground for injuries.

D'Antoni -- in an historic case of coaching malpractice -- could not figure out how to play 2 of the best big men in the game together.

You hire a coach who will use the personnel to the best of his or her ability. And in running -- stubbornly -- a system that was completely out of whack with his personnel, D'Antoni broke a cardinal rule of coaching.

After he drove the team into a ditch, causing older players to log more minutes, leading to . . . surprise! . . . injuries. Any Laker fan will tell you the roster has issues, but this coach exacerbated them.

Ultimately, the front office is to blame. It built a roster of old legs, acquired a potential franchise player in the pivot, then went about hiring the exact wrong coach for both.

All lead by Kobe. hmmm

Kobe deserved a lot of the criticism he got over his 17 seasons, but this season, LA simply hired the wrong coach for the personnel, and that coach went about proving it.

Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 5

Golden State Warriors 100 Denver Nuggets 107

The Denver Nuggets were facing elimination tonight, yet they were determined not to let this series slip away from them. And for most of this game, it was a runaway rout, yet in the final nine minutes the Nuggets held on for dear life. Denver took a 22 point lead in the second quarter and led by as much as 19 points at the 9:00 minute mark of the fourth quarter, but Golden State made a furious run that cut the lead down to just five points with just 1:40 remaining in the game. But Denver made some critical dunks down the stretch, thanks to Andre Iguodala, who led the Nuggets with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, and Kenneth Faried, who scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Ty Lawson and Wilson Chandler each added 19 points for Denver. Harrison Barnes led the Warriors with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Jarrett Jack added 20 points and Klay Thompson added 19 points. Stephen Curry scored 15 points and dished out eight assists, but he struggled from beyond the 3 point line, making only one 3 point shot on seven attempts. Golden State can still close out this series in front of their home crowd.

Golden State leads series 3-2.

Coming back to the OAK, this series will go the seven with hopefully my team THE Warriors winning. San Antonio is the trap of each division, they lull you in and knock you outright plus their last O'Brien trophy was in this century.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 5

Boston Celtics 92 New York Knicks 86

The New York Knicks had a golden opportunity to close out this series in front of their home fans, but after an initial flourish, they fell into a funk, while the Celtics played like a veteran playoff team. The Celtics came back from an 11 point deficit to take a 15 point lead in the fourth quarter only to nearly blow it in the closing minutes, yet they hung on to win and force game six in Beantown. Kevin Garnett scored 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds while Jeff Green led the Celtics in scoring with 18 points. Brandon Bass and Jason Terry each added 17 points while Paul Pierce added 16.

Raymond Felton again had a good game for the Knicks, scoring 21 points with six rebounds, but both Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith struggled from the floor. Though Anthony scored 22 points, he only made eight shots on 24 field goal attempts, and J.R. Smith was even more dismal, missing his first 10 shots and finishing with 14 points on 3 for 14 shooting. The Knicks, who looked like they were about to easily sweep this series just a few days ago, now must face the nagging questions about whether they can win their first playoff series in 14 years.

New York leads series 3-2.

In other NBA News, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers was overwhelmingly voted NBA Rookie of the Year. He led all rookies with a 19-point scoring average. He also averaged 6.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds, playing in all 82 games this season. He broke Stephen Curry's rookie record for 3-pointers in a season, finishing with 185, and became just the third NBA rookie with at least 1,500 points and 500 assists, following Oscar Robertson and Allen Iverson.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 5

Atlanta Hawks 83 Indiana Pacers 106

Indiana looked to get back on track after a diastrous two games in Atlanta, and they did so in a game that got ugly not just for the final score. Indiana took the lead for good near the end of the second quarter, and pulled away in the third in a quarter that was marred by a huge number of fouls including six technical fouls. David West led the Pacers with 24 points while Paul George scored 21 points with 10 rebounds and five assists. Roy Hibbert also came to life in this game, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Josh Smith and Al Horford each led the Hawks with 14 points. The Pacers now look to close out the series in Atlanta, where they have not won since 2006.

Indiana leads series 3-2.

Western Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 5

Houston Rockets 107 Oklahoma City Thunder 100

Houston Rockets supestar James Harden was ill with flu-like symptoms prior to the game and missed pre-game practice. But after suiting up for this game, it was the Oklahoma City Thunder that looked sick, as Harden and his gang pukked the upset victory and sent the series back to Houston for game six. Harden made his first seven 3 point shots and scored 31 points for the game. He was helped out by Francisco Garcia, who scored 18 points on five 3 point shots, and Omer Asik, who scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Eight of those points came from the free throw line down the stretch, as OKC tried to play hack-a-shaq to cut into Houston's lead with five and a half minutes to go.

Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 36 points, and Reggie Jackson added 20 points, but the rest of their lineup struggled. The Thunder, who going into this series looked like they had the best chance of upending the Maimi Heat in the NBA Finals, now look very ordinary without Russell Westbrook.

Oklahoma City leads series 3-2.

Eastern Conference Playoffs, 1st Round

Game 6

Brooklyn Nets 95 Chicago Bulls 92

The Bulls desperately sopught to close out this series tonight in front of their home fans, but their roster began to resemble a M.A.S.H. unit, as Kirk Hinrich sat out another game due to a nagging calf injury, and Luol Deng sat out of the game due to the flu. Nate Robinson and Taj Gibson also came down with the flu but played anyway.

But the Nets would ultimately take advantage of the Bulls short roster. Brooklyn relied overwhelmingly on their starters, as their big three, Brook Lopez, Derren Williams, and Joe Johnson each scored 17 points, while Gerald Wallce scored 15 points and Reggie Evans pulled down 15 rebounds. Marco Bellinelli, subbing for the ill Luol Deng, was huge for the Bulls, scoring 22 points with five rebounds and seven assists. Nate Robinson scored 18 points for the Bulls while Jimmy Butler scored 17 points and Joakim Noah scored 14 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Carlos Boozer scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, but he got into foul trouble early and eventually fouled out of the game. The flu obviously affected Taj Gibson, as he also got into foul trouble and fouled out of the game with just three points. The Bulls also uncharacteristically turned the ball over 16 times. They would get all they way to within one point of the Nets with 21 seconds remaining, but Chicago would fall short in their efforts. The series now returns to Brooklyn for the decisive seventh game.

Series tied at 3-3. omg omfg shake faint
