As I've stated on here before, I've worked in a legitimate business where I had to deal with prostitutes. A very large majority of their clients are married men. Men employ prostitutes far more often than their wives/girlfriends are willing to accept. I've talked to several of my straight male friends and when the subject of prostitutes comes up, although most of them are not willing to admit that they have been with one, they tend to find the idea of being with one very exciting. I just don't understand why a man would be willing to be with a woman who will have sex with any old body.

Actually I am very interested in those surveys. Is there any on percentage on visiting a prostitute once or more? It's not about regular visits. I just made a rough estimate of 85%, however, think regulars would be 15% or something.

Would also be interesting if cultural differences exist or not.

That's one reason that men go to sex workers. The taboo about going is a buzz, doing something naughty and illicit. There's plenty of other reasons as well. Some people are lonely, some get off on paying someone to do their bidding for an hour, a power trip, or the illusion of one. You know when some men and women are lonely they'll turn to the chocolate cake in the fridge. Some men will turn to a sex worker. It's really not that different from other human behaviour when you break it down. They are trying to change their emotional state because they are not able, or can't find "healthy" ways to do it.

Exactly. You'd have to have an extremely low moral compass to ignore the fact that the majority of the sex industry is ridiculously exploitative and just plain evil. Most of the women in it are either literally forced into it (human trafficking) or forced into it through financial issues.

I find it abhorrent to the point where I probably wouldn't associate with anyone I knew who did it. It's just really not acceptable behaviour to me.

but I know plenty of guys who would never even consider doing this, actually, most of the men I know-and if I had to put a percentage on it, I would say that 90% most certainly have not.

One would think most guys who do this sort of thing would also go to strip clubs as well.(Not saying all guys who go to strip clubs use ho's). I don't know anyone that has used a prostitute (openly admitting or otherwise).

And I think that's a crazy ass estimate. By your numbers, that would mean 8.5 out of every 10 men in my life (father, grands, uncles, cousins, and husband/boyfriends) have been with hookers...ummm, sorry Boo, but NOT . Although I will say I had 2 uncles on my mom's side who lived through the horror of serving in the Vietnam War, and I wouldn't doubt for a minute that under the stress of what they experienced there, the local hookers would have been an almost expected way for them to cope with their life in battle right along with smoking dope and eating rats.

I think it depends a lot on the culture of where a person lives; if it's a country where it's socially acceptable to utilize the service of prostitutes, then, perhaps. But I still think 85% is a bloated number and not realistic at all. I live in Hamburg, near one of the most famous red light districts on the planet, and frankly I have yet to meet a native German man in this city who would lie with one of these girls working the track there. To begin with, I find that the average guy here is more informed on issues of sex slavery and human trafficking to want to align themselves with that, secondly, they're concerned about the physical safety issues that can arise with exposing themselves to a woman whose crotch and other body parts have been stretched and in contact with hundreds of men. The one person I've known in 10 years of living here who's been serviced by a hooker was on vacation and visiting the first time from Katmandu, Nepal, and it being not at all what he expected it to be he definitely lived to regret it.

I'd like to throw something out there...and it's just my (perhaps naive) take on the matter...but I would say that LONELINESS is a bigger factor than booze. Alcohol to many is a mask for the loneliness.

Uhm...at this point, DJJ you should skip to the next post (please);

For my birthday some friends took me out, and we wound up at a strip club. It's only the second time in my life that I've been in one of those joints. The strippers were, for the most part, GORGEOUS! (As opposed to the butterfaces at the first joint I'd gone to.) ANYWAY...It was basically a BAR with gorgeous women walking around saying; "Buy me a drink! You're handsome. Want a lap dance? Buy me a drink"...and they made it clear that a trip into the "champagne room" was gonna be "fun" (regardless of what Chris Rock sang)

Sure there are lots of guys in there who are just hanging out and having a good time, but then there are the lonely guys...it takes one to notice one...who suddenly have these amazingly gorgeous women complimenting you and chatting and appearing to be so fucking interested in you and grabbing your junk and basically everything that you probably miss (if you're single) or not getting at home (if you're committed).

Basically I wound up paying for a lap dance from the gorgeous Russian who made me feel like a million dollars...and...if I had HAD the $360 for the 1/2 hour in the "Champagne Room" - where we could "have some fun"...I most probably would've paid it.

Please - I don't want to discuss "ethics" or the slave trade or anything...I lived 40 years on this planet thinking it immoral and not having any interest in setting foot in a strip joint. But I did, and what I saw was women making lonely men happy.

So...I guess what I'm saying is...as long as there are lonely men...especially when they're drunk & horny...there will be a need for hookers.

i don't think 85% of men have sex with hookers, but i'm sure there are many men that do, or have at least once in their life. however i think it is much more common for a guy to meet a woman in a bar, or from their work place, or online. and have a one night stand with them. i also think more men sit at home in-front of their computer screen and watch porn for free online.

i don't think it's "normal" to pay for sex. i think there is so much that goes along with that, sex slaves, underage girls, pimps abusing woman, human trafficing, etc. the whole idea of any of this really disturbs me. i see no reason why any person should want or need to pay for sex when there are plenty of people that give it up for free?

for the men here that see hookers that have daughters, what if your daughter was a hooker? how would you feel about that? because every hooker is someone's daughter. just a thought.
