Did your parent(s) talk to you about "sex", and at what age?

Did your parent(s) talk to you about "sex", and at what age?

My parents did not. I learned stuff from school, books, tv, etc. It is a good idea for parents to start talking to their kids about sex when they are young. When they start asking questions is a good time.

No. I learned about it from HBO. I asked my mom about sex when I was 9. I asked her if she had ever given a blow job which she said yes, once. To my dad when they were married. And she didn't like it and never did it again. hmmm Not sure if I believe her. But other than that, no other sex talk. And I had to approach her about my period too.

And looking back I find it strange she never asked me how I knew what a blow job was and why I was so concerned about it.

Never, to this day.

I learned first from a teenage friend across the street, the neighborhood ladies' man. I was maybe age 8ish. He probably positioned sex as a bit more of a goal than I'd like to pass on to young folk. But in retrospect, he gave me information that was 100-percent accurate, comprehensive (down to why condoms are so important) and he didn't make sex into some filthy, mysogynist conquest. And not once did he get inappropriate with me. I feel really blessed to have known him.

In the years that followed, I confirmed everything he said by sneaking into my older sister's room and reading her health and sex ed textbooks.

Nope.

I've been talking to my kids about sex, openly and on an ongoing basis, since my oldest was 3 and I got pregnant with her little sister.

They fucking haaaaate it.

They have to learn that sex is not just physical but emotional especially for girls. Men are more physical about sex and woman are more emotional. Men and women think differently. One of my psychology professors would say that men are "wired" differently than women, that is true.

No, my parents never talked to me about sex. I never asked, either.

My parents married when my father was 18 and my mother was 14. I was told that if I held hands with a boy or kissed a boy I'd get pregnant. That's what I heard from the moment I can remember.

I hope I've done better for my girls.

See! and the media was complaining that his lyrics were profane, etc. He was actually doing a good thing. I like honest people. If parents do not want their children from hearing a certain song, or seeing a movie, then it is the parents responsibility to monitor their children. Not the Entertainers.

Wow. Did she ever talk about what that was like? Whether she was afraid, etc.? Are your parents still together?

My dad tried. He was very uncomfortable, pulled out all kinds of books, got very technical. I got bored and stopped listening. We had sex education in school, 5th grade then again I think 7th. So between sparatic things from family, school, friends, television, and then books from bookstores and the library, by 16 I knew a bit.

My parents stayed married about 17 years, my dad was stationed in what was at the time West Germany about 2-3 years before that, so my mom was 28 when my dad moved out.

My mom has been married 3 times since then for a total of 4 marriages. My dad has been married a total of 3 times.

We haven't talked about it much, but she has said they married because they wanted to, but they would have had to even if they hadn't wanted to because she was preg. I do know she was totally terrified and in many ways is just scared of the world to this day.

As for me, it all was just what normal was. They weren't young to me because they were my parents. It's just been since my youngest daughter turned 14 that I realized I was really raised by children.

Never, not one single word from them. I learned about sex from Prince and the Hot Letters section in Penthouse magazine when I used to sneak and find where my uncle has his stash hidden. I'd hear things like "Head", "Jack U Off", "a blowjob is a mean blow", "Get It Up", etc. and didn't know what they meant. When I'd be reading the Penthouse letters, I'd see these words and phrases within the text and was able to figure out what they meant by hearing them in context. And I can tell you this, you do not jack a girl off but you can jack a man off. That little purple heffer may have some of y'all fooled but he ain't got me fooled. lol

My mom talked about sex like she was talking about the news.

Lets just say my teachers always had funny stories to tell about how I responded

when little boys tried to cop a feel. "I know what you want and I'm not sucking anything!!" lol

No talk about birds and bees. When my period started - at school - I locked myself in the girls loo - thought I was dying. I stayed there all day until a teacher came in, took me aside and explained it all to me.

I had two older brothers...between them and their raunchy friends, I was hip to the game by age 8.

My dad did have the talk with me around age 12, but only because my mom forced him. He didnt really talk...he just verified.

Dad: Do you know how to get a girl pregnant?

Me: Yes.

Dad: Do you know how to keep a girl from getting pregnant?

Me: Yes.

Dad: Do you know how to keep your dick from falling off?

Me: Yes.

Dad: Alright then...handle ya business.

When I got a little older he filled me in on a Navy buddy of his that caught some kind of VD. Pops said the doctors took "something like a wire hanger" and shoved it into his urethra. The "hanger" had prongs that would then come out and proceed to spin around and clean his penis out.

That shit kept me dick in my pants for like a month.

I was never told anything about sex, my older cousin spoke to be about boys when I was about 10.

She said, "don't start having sex, because when you do you will like it and never stop and people will call you a whore". confused

My mom raised me by herself, and she sucked at communication. She was a prude and wouldn't even tell me about taking care of my own body, my period, how to use pads ... she told me nothing.

With the help of a neighborhood friend and her caring mother, that neighbor told me about proper pad usage and hygeine, and she taught me to keep myself clean.

I then told my older sister about what that neighbor taught me.

Now that I have kids I teach them about puberty, keeping their bodies clean and sex. You would be surprised how many parents do NOT teach their kids about keeping themselves clean... never mind sex.

Nope it was quite taboo to talk of such things in my house. I learned from TV, and friends. As for my kids, I have talked openly about it since they were in 5th grade.

I actually really surprised to see how many of our parents never had "the talk" with us. I thought I was in the minority. Seems my encounter (or lack thereof) was pretty normal.

Nope, I discovered it all. Even masturbating I learned from watching porn at a young age to investigate this new discovery of sex. My mom caught me jacking off to porn once, and has never mentioned this inncident since
