One of her sisters married a very dark black man and her two daughters are medium complected. In the 1800's when your white dad was also your mama's slave master it made perfect sense to take absolutely no pride in your white herritage. PERFECT SENSE.

BUT when your parents had consensual sex and a long term relationship with each other and this man wants to be an ongoing part of your life, why not acknowledge your entire genotype and the cultures of both of your parents, even if some people may identify you as being only black?

Why her mother gotta be a dumb ass cuz she did what she thought was best for HER child in the time and conditions she was living in. Like I said, NOBODY was taking the biracial approach 45 years ago so her mother did what was widely accepted and normal in those times. And since you nor anybody else on the Org was living in Halle's house, you don't know what her mother did or did not share with her regarding her "white" culture.

Furthermore, you're not walking in her shoes and what works for you doesn't work for everybody else. If you're a parent, I'm sure you've made parenting decisions that others would say you're a dumb ass for making, but ultimately only you know what's best for your child.

Jennifer Beals who is either the same age or older than Halle gets to be called biracial (sometimes white) and seems to get cast either as white or in roles where the person's race is irrelevant. Also, to my knowledge, she has never been referred to as black in either the white or black press and she has never identified herself as black. I've probably read three articles where Jennifer even mentioned her background but I've heard it countless times in interviews with Halle.

If it boils down to what someone looks like then Halle's daughter looks just as white as Jennifer Beals so why would Halle even debate with Aubry over their childs ethnicity? In a country that is becoming more racially diverse, it seems rather idiotic for Halle to insist that her daughter is black especially if she is going to be spending half her time with her very anglo looking father.

Yep, she aint never looked white to me either. Could be a matter of where one grows up as some areas are more diverse and liberal than others. That's why I don't get Halle's position. Nahla's growing up in the most liberal community. Her daughter may well have an easier time growing up not only because of who her parents are (celebs) but because of racial make up. She will breeze through the color barrier much the same way Nicole Ritchie and Kidada Jones have done.

I've always thought that her diabetes plays a role in her personality and how she handles stress and reacts to people and social situations (overly sensitive or suspicious). She may have long been suffering from a mild form of depression which can occur in some diabetics. She's not on medication right? I heard she treats her illness solely with diet and exercise.

What I see in this picture is a daddy's little princess. You know that type; they may love their mama as much as they love daddy but there is a special sparkle in their eye whenever daddy is around. Daddy can do no wrong by his girl, especially when a daddy's girl is this age. Mama's sometimes get jealous of this bond, especially if they were not a daddy's girl themselves and do not understand the closeness.
