No, the water that I soak them in initially & in-between has the garlic. Then they're salted at the end. I don't know about olive oil...wouldn't that make them soggy??? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |

NO NO NO...actually, I don't really drizzle them, I put the olive oil with the garlic/salt in little dipping bowls and dip the tostones as we eat them.
If drizzling you'd do that when serving/about to eat them, not during any part of preparation. |

Although that sounds suspiciously like a Cuban mojo...aren't you boricua? If so, does your MOTHER know the blasphemy you're causing?!?!? By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |

Yes I am boricua.
That isn't at all like mojo. Mojo has lemon or orange and stuff no? And it's a marinade (I thought).
I'm talkin about ajillo or mojito de ajo, not mojo.
Next you'll tell me you don't drizzle olive oil on your Yuca when you eat it. Who's suspect here?? [Edited 8/20/10 9:46am] |

FYI - my wife is boricua...I'm catracho. I can tell that in Honduras they have a dish called "Yuca con tajaditas" which has the boiled(?) yuca with thin-sliced green plantain and a side of some type of cabbage slaw with beets. I had it when I was little.
My godmother (RIP) was Cuban, and the only way I REALLY know how to eat yuca is with mojo. Neither my wife nor my mother-in-law cook cook yuca so I don't know how boricuas make it.
However, my sister-in-law's BF is Colombian and he cooks yuca by slicing it through a mandolin slicer and deep frying it. Yuca chips are GREAT! By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |

1 bell pepper, 1 jalapeno, 1 tomato, 1 onion, and 1 bunch of cilantro blenderized.
chicken pieces marinated in a blend of black pepper, red wine vinegar, salt, and minced garlic for an hour or so, then pan fried in a bit of oil with a chopped onion until the onion pieces are translucent.
pour the blenderized sauce over and cook for about 5 minutes, then add water till it covers the chicken, stir, and cover and simmer for about 35 to 45 minutes.
Serve with rice. [Edited 8/21/10 13:41pm] |
