Fired for Being too Sexy

Just when you think you've heard it all(from the NY Daily News)

A Latina lovely says her bosses at Citigroup canned her for flaunting her ample assets at a midtown bank.

Dangerously curvy Debrahlee Lorenzana contends her ex-bosses at Citibank in the Chrysler Building banned her from wearing sexy outfits or heels deemed "too distracting" for male coworkers.

"I can't help it that I have curves," Lorenzana told the Daily News.

"And I'm not going to go eat and gain 50 or 100 pounds because my job wants me to be the same size as everyone else."

The 33-year-old Queens woman filed suit in Manhattan Supreme Court, claiming she was ordered to lay off turtlenecks, pencil skirts and fitted suits because clingy clothes were drawing too much attention in the workplace.

"Debrahlee Lorenzana would be very attractive in a burka," said her lawyer Jack Tuckner, of Tuckner Sipser Weinstock & Sipser.

Lorenzana, who is 5-feet-6 and 125 pounds, defended her fashion choices, saying she never flashed too much skin and dressed professionally, not provocatively.

"Never did I ever show cleavage," the divorced single mom said. "I like fashion, but I always dressed professionally."

Lorenzana was hired as a business banking officer at Citi's Chrysler branch in September 2008 and transferred in July 2009 to a Rockefeller Center branch.

The suit claims she was moved to an out-of-the-way spot where she couldn't lure in new clients as retaliation for her complaints about sexual harassment. A month later she was fired.

"All it came down to was, 'We don't want to deal with you, because you're just too good looking,'" Tuckner said.

In a statement, Citigroup said the suit is "without merit," but declined to discuss Lorenzana's performance.

"Citi is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and providing a respectful environment in the workplace," the statement read.

Lorenzana, who works for another financial institution, said she's had to face harassment her entire life because of a body that drives men wild.

"I get harassed in the supermarket with my son just wearing sweatpants with my hair in a ponytail," she said. "I can't help how I look."

See, you can be fired or reprimanded for not adhereing to dress code policy, but those are all office clothes.

Well, they certainly couldn't have fired her because of her stellar attitude.

And this is why I don't have a job..lol Kidding...

But seriously now? I don't think she violated the dress code. Tailored suits and turtlenecks and such...it's not like the woman is dressing like Erin Brockovich.

Ay...the curse of being beautiful...

There is a woman at work who gets attitude from other people for dressing perfectly in code too. She is simply petite with a bangin' rack. shrug

You can see two women wear the same exact outfit, and if the girl that looks like a boyish Calvin Klein stick figure model, then she supposedly looks "professional", but if you wear the same exact thing, god forbid you have curves and look like a real female.

People have to grow up, this is a double standard implemented by both men and women, and some sometimes even by women more.

If it is indeed not her work that was the problem, I wonder how many of the "50-100lb" fatter women had a problem with her hotness and complained.

I'm sorry, but her line about gaining weight to fit in is fucking hilarious.

My ex got confronted at church about wearing T-shirts. She wasn't the only woman wearing them, just bigger-chested (and younger) than most of the others in the congregation and apparently her attire was seen as possibly distracting and tempting to those around her which I guess was code for "Hey man, I know we're cool, but me and the guys can't keep our eyes off your wife's tits".

Shoulda told them maybe they just needed to pray about it.

More like their wives were getting pissed off at them for looking. What man is going to complain about that??

Very true.

Also ridiculous was the notion that it was because she wore cartoon shirts that it drew attention there...yeah okay. So you folks have issues with staring at Elmo while tithing now?

I really doubt a same sized shirt without a cartoon would have made the difference. In fact, I'm sure she had worn some of those too.

Uhm. Holy fuck.

Provided everything about her is real - this woman is perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

Now, if she were 3" smaller I'd probably faint right now. But she's perfect nevertheless. I want a woman like that. Now. Please.

There has to be more to the story. Did they provide a list of what she should wear?

Everyone cant wear the same type of clothing.

And some people confuse clothes with fitting and fitting right

My boyfriend's cousin has a big belly, big boobs and the skinniest legs ever. She doesnt wear the proper bra and her shirts ride up. It drives me nuts. But I dont say anything cuz I dont buy her clothes.

Just watched her interview on CNN.com. Her outfit (that one at least) didn't look inappropriate at all. Attractive, yes, but nothing extreme. If that was at all indicative of what she actually wore, then its pretty shitty to be fired for it, if that is indeed why they fired her.

And her lawyer looks like a toad.
