I can appreciate honest observations and constructive straight talk about this tragedy. But please stop the name calling and disparaging remarks on this thread for people to honor and grieve the loss of this musical legend. That remark was uncalled for on THIS thread.

Show some decency if not for Ms. Houston.. then for her fans who love and grieve her loss.

It is not my intention to offend anyone.

But I will utilize my first amendment rights and continue to speak constructively and as

honestly as I feel. While most of you are putting on airs because a singer died, I am

being contemplative about my own life.

If that means saying some things that are disagreeable with the norms being expressed

around here, then you better not read my posts.

But again, if I have offended anyone, I am sorry that you took offense.

and I can appreciate constructive talk. Calling her a hood rat was over the top. And although I am not a stan... only a casual fan.... calling her that did offend me enough to say something.

Yeah she had issues... but NO one deserves to be called names. Just seems particularly heartless... and I know that is not what you mean to put out. smile

As far as her videos went, this was definitely one of her best. Still love this video to this day.

yeah, right, prodigal. this is the same poster who implored me a few posts back to have a 'genteel and intelligent conversation' with him/her. that's why i have no problem showing my 'rancor', as s/he put it. i have no desire to be genteel with poster like this.

When a celebrity dies, you can surely expect faux-remorse and over wrought grief

from "fans."

Again, I will not discuss her life without remarking on the totality of it; drugs, alcohol,

voice, movies, crack, mother, daughter, wife. She's more than just a singer and if

y'all can for a second understand this and place her life in perspective, maybe you will

learn something from this and be able to express more than just grief that'll last for

two days.

What Whitney Houston struggled against, stood for, and lived with is remarkable. In this

particular hour of reflection, I decide to view her life as a whole, and not just the parts.

Good god, does this forum lack insight and all of y'all are just bumbling fanatics going through

life with your gazed fixed on stars (i.e. celebrities)?

sad people ar making jokes, but this is someone who was a beautiful soul and just lost her way. Celebs are human too and people really need to stop harassing them day in and night on the internet. These are real folks with real problems sad the same harassment MJ got-they did to whitney too. May God keep her beautiful soul rose I just can't take anymore-God knows if Prince or anybody else goes soon I'm not gonna handle it well. I loved whitney's voice-so sad.

I'm not really sure whether I like how Michael is linked to this. And how did she get the same treatment or harrasment Michael got? Did they accuse her of child molestation? Did he got on stage intoxicated, screwing up his shows, leaving paying fans disappointed? Did he do recreational drugs? Did he make headlines for years for substance abuse?? Those are two total separate cases. The only thing they share is that they died prematurely. Both is shocking, albeit for different reasons.

Interesting because Houston was also religious (and so was MJ).

I think it boils down to that MJ and Houston were drug addicts and Prince and Madonna

were not.

Michael didn't die because he was drug addict. He died because his quack doctor put him to sleep.

Far too often when something bad happens, the black guy gets blamed. Whitney Houston was trying to please too many people, specifically trying to "keep it real" when she should have walked away from a whole host of rats. Why did Clive Davis have her singing "popular" music in the first place when it was beneath her? If white industry suits didnt aggressively market, and endorse the culture of trash she'd still be breathing and that aint got nothing to do with Bobby Brown.

With all due respect, dont pull the race card on this. This aint the time nor the place. Whitney was a grown-ass woman, and she made poor decisions along the way (as we all tend to from time to time). Maybe you're right when you say the (ahem) "White Industry Suits" (nice avatar by the way) DO market a trash culture, but Bobby is to blame for Whitney's downfall, and you are in fucking denial if you disagree.

I disagree; referring to her as a hood rat was to emphasize Houston's upbringing and the

way she carried herself in an effort to suggest that she was well acquainted with ghetto

life and its drug culture before she met Bobby Brown.

Y'all muahfuckers need to relax and chill out: this "Thou shall not speak ill of the dead"

hoodoo-voodoo mumbo jumbo stuff is getting a little tired. Aren't we grown ups here who

can speak freely and intelligently?

Whitney Houston was a hood rat, mother, great singer, drug addict, recovering drug

addict, actress, songwriter, wife, daughter, asshole just like all of us. Cut the crap

and let's talk about her life in its totality - I bet ya that, just like MJ, life will go on and

we all will recover.

I'm not trolling or trying to argue: I make sure that each of my posts are mostly thought-

ful; y'all know you're never going to get a Chuckaducci post that hasn't been well thought

out.

Neither do I. With MJ- you can understand why he became the way he did- given all the problems he went with.

I'm sure Whitney had a ton of problems- but certainly not the magnitude that MJ had.

What I meant was that the constant media scrutiny killed their souls. Yes their situations were different, but they were both drug through the mud just the same essentially killing their spirit long before their deaths.

How is it irrelevant? If he was healthy he wouldn't have needed a doctor in the first place.
