No. Whitney is The Voice. She's not "princess" anything.

Oh yeah... that is right. I have heard that one before. voice with a capital "V"

okay, I am getting over the disbelief and shock... now the saddness is really settlling in.

I just read a tweet from Christinia Aguielera (sp?). And my mind went to that Xtina performed in Etta James's funeral and it hit me that we will be hearing about WHITNEY HOUSTON'S funeral services.

sad

Edit: totally the wrong emoticon.

I will not point fingers. You know, it was done to death during her life and will be done to death afterward. It happened, the demons of it took hold of her life, and she tried to fight them. It's not as easy as a patch or a stick of gum. The blame game won't bring my diva back. The blame game won't erase what has already happened. I will choose to remember her as the "pretty lady in white" who amazed me during that football game. I will remember her as the "lady who danced in the shadows" in her video I'm Your Baby Tonight.

I'm personally getting upset because of all the ugliness on other forums and the people who destroyed a wonderful tribute page on FB with their anonymous trash. I can't expect the Internet to perfectly behave and that's going to get dismissed. Tonight is going to be all about her, the music, and how she made me feel growing up. I choose to be positive because I'm already hurting as it is over her death. Getting mad at sarcasm (haven't seen it here like it is elsewhere) won't do any good.

Besides, Whitney would have wanted a fan to keep it classy. I do this for my diva. heart rose

May she rest in peace. dove

How is it that Michael and Whitney fucked up their lives and are dead yet Prince and Madonna are still here and dropping albums and tours and Super Bowls like no one's business?

Like others have said, people with the 'good' image are usually shy, sensitive people, much more prone to taking drugs to ease their pain then the likes of more confident, brash types like Madonna and Prince. They got it all out of their system when they were young too, always a good thing then bottling it up for years and then not being able to handle it.

As for this death I dont think any celebrity death has shocked me since Michael. Before him even Anna Nicoles death made me sad, now its just numbness to everyone else as I literally almost passed out when Michael died. The weirdest thing is when they have just been seen out like Whitney had and the next minute they're dead, its a very sobering situation for anyone to see.

The truth is SHE got Bobby started on coke. She was the one with all the high-end hollywood friends in the 80's.

Not much of a shocker here... sad for a second but really since everyone now is on pills, get ready for allot more of these semi-young deaths.

pretty fucked up how pills and of course im assuming she was on them, everyone seems to be.... mixing.

I agree: Whitney Houston was a hood rat way before she met Bobby Brown.

The public persona portrayed in the 80s wasn't authentic. She was ghetto and I'm sure

that was what attracted her to Bobby Brown.

^^

I can appreciate honest observations and constructive straight talk about this tragedy. But please stop the name calling and disparaging remarks on this thread for people to honor and grieve the loss of this musical legend. That remark was uncalled for on THIS thread.

Show some decency if not for Ms. Houston.. then for her fans who love and grieve her loss.

yeah, right, prodigal. this is the same poster who implored me a few posts back to have a 'genteel and intelligent conversation' with him/her. that's why i have no problem showing my 'rancor', as s/he put it. i have no desire to be genteel with poster like this.

It is not my intention to offend anyone.

But I will utilize my first amendment rights and continue to speak constructively and as

honestly as I feel. While most of you are putting on airs because a singer died, I am

being contemplative about my own life.

If that means saying some things that are disagreeable with the norms being expressed

around here, then you better not read my posts.

But again, if I have offended anyone, I am sorry that you took offense.

They need to quit putting the blame on Bobby. If Whitney Houston wanted to get better and cleaned up- it was her OWN choice.

[Edited 2/11/12 19:22pm]

All he said was her downward spiral started after she married him... Which seems to be true shrug

Far too often when something bad happens, the black guy gets blamed. Whitney Houston was trying to please too many people, specifically trying to "keep it real" when she should have walked away from a whole host of rats. Why did Clive Davis have her singing "popular" music in the first place when it was beneath her? If white industry suits didnt aggressively market, and endorse the culture of trash she'd still be breathing and that aint got nothing to do with Bobby Brown.
