And that's fine, but you're missing his point. For one, every voiceis limited in the sense that no one can sing the whole piano. You probably know this but it leads to my point. I am a Lyric Tenor. I know that my voice is fine from B2-B4(and I mix from G4 up to D5, actually), I can go above and below that, but that's not my tessitura and my voice is going to thin above and below those notes. In fact from say...E2, I might even vocal fry. LOL.
Even with professionals, it is the same way, no matter their vocal "fach". What the poster was showing you is that even though a Bb2 is not part of her tessitura, she can do it without vocal fry(she's not the only one) but she can do it. And she melismatically phrased and applied vibrato to do it(and btw, I have to work on my vibrato). Her tessitura starts actually around F3, so anything below say D3 for her being a Mezzo without vocal fry impressive. Jill is absolutely NOT a Soprano at all. No way even near it. Now perhas she can hit Soprano notes but she is not a Soprano. She is an Alto. And I don't want to be too picky but Beyonce is a 1st Alto, however I'm sure she can sing Soprano if she chooses. And you mentioned previously that when she wails or whatever you called it, she sounds soulful. Sorry, I really disagree. Not sure if you and I are listening to the same artist here or not. And I also think you error in some of your usages of "musical terminology" but I don't have time to walk through it. I guess people tend to hear what they want to hear.

Jill Scott is not a 2nd Soprano sweetie. Listen to her voice. Use your ears. Again, Jill Scott can reach Soprano notes, but she is not a Soprano. Listen to the voice that she sings in. That'll clue you in.

Ok I just gotta say this one thing to the folks who say that Alicia Keys is boring. It's awefully challenging (but not impossible) to "dominate" a stage when you are seated stationary at a piano singing. Alicia would have to have the playing skills of Bach and like the voice of Jill Scott to really be all that exciting and dynamic given her particular craft. Can't compare her to Stevie because he's a genius and it's just not fair.
...So, I have one example of someone who can play the piano, (two at a time), be otherwise completely alone on stage, and be absolutely RIVETING for an 2 hour show.

Ya know, Prince should really make peace with youtube. It is such a great way to get new fans. A young person keeps hearing about Prince and decide to check him out. maybe he will like what he hears enough to start buying Prince's CD and concert tickets... but nothing on youtube.
People aren't going to drop cold hard cash on a download or CD on someone they really aren't sure about... just checking out. youtube or an extensive aol music could really open someone to so new (and maybe old) music.
