OK I finally heard Celebration (the full song) and em... it's OK I guess it needs to grow on me a bit more. It is very club oriented, the beginning reminds me a bit of Music and it does sound like Get Together a slightly bit, very Ibizza-sounding I am not the biggest fan of that sound but it's OK. It won't be remembered forever but it will do its job-providing one more hit for Madonna. For whoever hasn't listened to it yet here is the link:

Revolver (new song)

hmmm

I like the fact they mixed them up.

id be asking too much for the songs to mix inbetween eachother like DOnna Summer's Greatest Hits sad cry

You're thinking about "On The Radio". While it's likely out of print because of the all the other greatest hits that have been released since (which in many cases might feature bigger hits) that album was great because of the mixing. I like to think of it as a megamix of her disco era.

this is a remix. THis recording was made during the video-shoot and for the video they use a remix of the song. So, we still haven't heard te pop version by Oakenfold.

Anyway, the actual melody won't be that much different and I think it's a generic song, I'm not too impressed. Plus it's a rip off from Let It Will Be, which I never could stand as well.

I really don't care about the 83-01 hits/singles, since they already appeared in IMC, GH2 and STR, I'm more interested in the singles of the 03-08 era; in my opnion, the following songs should be included, at least, in the 2CD version:

-Die another day
-American Life
-Hung Up
-Sorry
-4 Minutes
-Give it to me

In addition, I want a huge, interesting booklet full of pics. In fact, I won't buy this compilation if the booklet sucks, period.

yeah, the booklet has to be good.

If there was more space for her singles post 2000, I'd add DAD (though I never could stand it), American Life, Hollywood, Nothing Fails (underrated), Hung Up, Sorry, GT, Jump (lol, but they're ALL great), 4 Minutes, GI2M and Miles Away.

I'm a big fan of her 00s albums, and I think she had some amazing singles out.

I think one reason why her 80s stuff is so loved is, because she was provided with songwriter's songs like Holiday, Papa DP, Material Girl, Open Your Heart etc.

Even the Pat Leonard and Steven Bray songs were mostly written individually by them.

It was only in the 90s when its seemed to become hip to work with producers who write songs as well when her songs became less-melodic.

Erotica is a great album with a concept and more coherrent than LAV, but it lacks of decent pop songs.

Erotica the album is OK but it is probably her weakest album along with True Blue (yes True Blue) for me. While True Blue has 3 great singles 2 ok songs and 4 fillers, Erotica has 2 great singles 1 more great song and a bunch of mediocre tracks, not as bad as the album tracks on True Blue but pretty forgettable. I think Bedtime Stories was a huge improvement over Erotica.

Madonna Readies “Celebration” Definitive Hits Collection, New Single Out August 3rd
7/23/09

Madonna confirmed plans to release her definitive greatest hits compilation Celebration today, due September 29th as both a single and double album. As if the lure of 37 Top 10 hits wasn’t enough, Celebration will also feature a pair of new tracks she recently recorded in New York, including the collection’s first single “Celebration,” which was co-produced by house music legend Paul Oakenfold. Celebration’s cover, created by street pop artist Mr. Brainwash, is up now on Madonna’s official website.

While the “Celebration” single won’t be released until August 3rd, remixes of the song are already on their way to the clubs according to the press release. “Celebration” will also be accompanied by a music video, which will be featured on the Celebration DVD.

On July 18th, Madonna’s official website recruited fans in Milan, Italy, to appear in the “Celebration” video, asking them to “come dressed to impress, bring all Madonna memorabilia, t-shirts or Madonna outfits you have and be ready to perform, dance or just be yourself.” Music video vet Jonas Åkerlund (”Ray of Light”) is confirmed to direct.

While the album’s track list hasn’t officially been announced, among the confirmed tracks are hits “Everybody,” “Express Yourself,” “Vogue” and “4 Minutes.”

As Rock Daily previously reported, Madonna’s fans had a hand in the collection’s track list, sending the Material Girl requests and recommendation through her manager Guy Oseary’s Twitter. The Celebration DVD will be released simultaneously on September 29th and will feature a collection of Madonna’s iconic videos, including a few that have never been on DVD before. No official word yet regarding the other new song on Celebration, but it’s rumored to be leaked song “Revolver.”

Celebration is Madonna’s third greatest hits compilation and marks the last release under the Warner Music umbrella before the Material Girl leaves her career-spanning record company for a Live Nation 360 deal.

http://www.rollingstone.c...ugust-3rd/

i think we have the answer of what songs are going on the cd her top 10 hits plus Everybody and two new songs to give us a total of 40 songs
1.Everybody
2.Holiday over Keep it Together
3.Borderline
4.Lucky Star
5.Like A Virgin
6.Material Girl
7.Crazy for You
8.Into the Groove over Angel
9.Dress You Up
10.Live To Tell
11.Papa Don't Preach
12.True Blue
13.Open Your Heart
14.La Isla Bonita
15.Who's That Girl
16.Causing a Commotion
17.Like A Prayer
18.Express Yourself
19.Cherish
20.Vogue
21.Hanky Panky
22.Justify My Love
23.This Used to be My Playground
24.Erotica
25.Deeper and Deeper
26.I'll Remember
27.Secret
28.Take A Bow
29.You'll See
30.Don't Cry For Me Argentina
31.Frozen
32.Ray of Light
33.Beautiful Stranger over Rescue Me
34.Music
35.Don't Tell Me
36.Die Another Day
37.Hung Up
38.4 Mins
39.Revolver
40.Celebration

I'm kinda confused by that article. They mention the 37 Top 10 hits, but they also claim that they tracklist hasn't been revealed yet. It's unlikely that all of those 37 hits will be included, since this compilation was put together using fan input.I predict that alot of fan favorites will be included (like "Miles Away" and "Everybody"),regardless of the chart status of those songs.

I agree,I hope the packaging is superb.I want a lengthy booklet with lots of photos,well-written commentary/essay,and maybe some rare photos that we haven't seen before. It would great if Madonna could her insight about every track.I want them to go all the way with this! I'd also think long and hard about doing something (dropping "Burning Up" or "You'll See" or "Die Another Day" or even "Dress You Up"?) to include "Causing a Commotion," which needs to be on a readily available compilation. And I feel bad about "Angel" and "La Isla Bonita" (and, to a lesser extent, "Don't Tell Me") not making the cut.

"Die Another Day" can go. I wanted to get "Causin' a Commotion" and especially "Gambler" (which hasn't ever been released on a Madonna album) on there, but it was tough.

I think the official cover is SO FIERCE! nutty faint nutty
as for my dream tracklist, I hope it focus more on her matured songs rather than the pre LAP singles.

1. Everybody dancing jig (its gotta start with her first single)
2. Lucy Star beg (Followed by her first top 10 PLEASE!)
3. Borderline bow (her first classic)
4. Like a Virgin playboy (gotta have her first NO. 1 and first dirrty hit)
5. Material Girl sexy (cause its so Iconic)
6. Into the Groove music (cause you can dance, FOR INSPIRATION!)
7. Live to tell worship (One of her finest, skip the flimsy film singles)
8. Papa Don't Preach fit (continued her iconic status)
9. Like a Prayer pray or pray(Such an AMAZING song, has to be here)
10. Express Yourself bored2 (More Icony stuff going on but I think its a boring song)
13. Oh Father cry(cause its a rare autobiagraphical song)
12. Cherish whistling (It's a rare side of Madonna, good for variety)
13. Vogue boogie (its like her biggest hit, and such ear candy)

1. Justify My Love tonk (so memorable)
2. Erotica spank (perfect for JML follow up)
3. Rain storm (her only other real hit from Erotica)
4. Secret cloud9 (another great for variety, beautiful song)
5. You must love me thumbs up! (better than TAB, besides i madge never gave TAB any publicity)
6. Frozen drooling (her very own Dion moment)
7. Ray of Light love2 (gotta be there)
8. Drowned World/Substitute for love nod (Her Masterpiece incomplete without it)
9. Music love (Groovy and likely her last no 1)
10. Don't Tell me whip (hopefully the Single edit)
11. Die Another Day missile (Love this song!)
12. American Life shocked (its pure controversial Madonna)
13. Hollywood nuts (such a good hook, I cannot believe this was not a hit)
14. Hung Up excited (DISCO TIME!)
15. Sorry excited (MORE DISCO TIME!)
16. Get Together party (My fave from Confessions)
17. 4 Min lockdance (likely her last 2xplatinum)
18. Give it to me excited (DANCE TIME!)

Seeing these different dream tracklists by the fans,it's clear that this should be a 3-CD box set.Gather up all the singles, the essential album tracks, the soundtrack hits, and the two new tracks.

Release a one-disc set for the casual fans but at this point, the diehard fans deserve a box set.2 CDs just isn't enough to include everything.

Deeper and Deeper charted higher than Rain
you left her most successful single Take A Bow and was performed on the American Music Awards with Babyface she wore an amazing Red China Doll Dress.

19. Revolver
20. Celebration

note

Borderline was her first top 10
Lucky Star was her first top 5

But Deeper and Deeper was all but ignored on the radio, I think Rain is more well known. Outside of the American Music awards Madonna never again played it live and honestly I think its more boring than pretty. I don't think Madonna likes it much so I think its has a slimer chance the Secret which she preformed in DWT and as requested on the S&S tour.

This a dreamlist but also practical and possible very close to how it will turn out. I did make some major omossion but I will 'splain.
Madonna Celebration:

Disc 1
1. Everybody
2. Lucky Star
3. Holiday
4. Like A Virgin
5. Material Girl
6. Into The Groove
7. Live to Tell
8. Papa Don't Preach
9. Open Your Heart
10. La Isla Bonita
11. Who's That Girl (final-fucking-ly)
12. Like A Prayer
13. Express Yourself
14. Vogue
15. Erotica
16. Deeper and Deeper
17. Rain (or Bad Girl)

Disc 2
1. Secret
2. Take A Bow
3. Human Nature
4. Don't Cry For Me Argentina (remix?)
5. You Must Love Me
6. Frozen (maybe her greatest song)
7. Ray Of Light
8. Drowned World
9. Music
10. Don't Tell Me
11. Die Another Day
12. American Life
13. Hung Up
14. Sorry
15. 4 Minutes
16. Give It 2 Me
17. Supernatural
18. Let Down Your Guard

OK, the last two tracks will be "Celebration" and whatever other shitty new song she did in two seconds.

I cut the obvious "Crazy for You" and thought twice about other great ballads like "Miles Away", "Oh Father" plus favorites, "I'll Remember" and "This Used To Be My Playground". I'm thinking with a title like "Celebration", it will likely try to put her best two feet forward....Madonna is all about dance music and she already released a fine ballads set. It's possible that "Give It 2 Me" might get included in order to make it look like "Hard Candy" had more than one hit. Also, could she finally include the hit version of "Don't Cry..."? That being said, I could be way off. And please lord give us "Who's That Girl"!

im sure that the tracklist will disappoint all in some way. there's no way a 2cd set can ever include all her singles even, let alone the album tracks like Waiting that are hugely underrapreciated.

I would imagine that Madonna will have pushed to include more of her recent masterial over older stuff, but Warners will have had their own thoughts about that too.

One thing that we all have to be thankful for however is that ALL the tracks have been remastered. Her catalogue between 1987-1998 is, IMO, in need of remastering, and it will be amazing to get Into The Groove, Who's That Girl, Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Vogue, Secret etc etc all in remastered quality. That's What im most excited about.

Particularly weird when they come at the expense of hits like "Borderline," "Cherish," and "Justify My Love." lol
