Interesting choice for the cover image. The expression on her face certainly makes the title seem ironic. My first thought was, "I wonder if she chose this to convey her mixed emotions at having to throw WB this contractual bone."

she better get over it, because the rumor a couple months ago was that Live Nation doesn't really want to be a record company and are considering farming out the distribution/promotion of her first album with them to WB lol

i wouldn't be all that surprised if WB ends up distubuting all of her LiveNation Albums. her major contention with them the past decade or so is the suits have been trying to make too many creative decisions.

I'm guessing all of my favorite Madonna hits will be lucky to make the cut:

"Burning Up"
"Oh Father"
"Bad Girl"
"Gambler"

yeah, sorry, that's not gonna happen lol

i'll not comment on the quality of the song, but it's owned by Geffen and WB aren't going to bother licensing that when Crazy For You is mandatory.

She needs to come out with a damn box set, then. mad

The sad thing is, great songs like the ones I listed get forgotten a little more every time they are overlooked for such compilations. "The Look of Love" is another one that'll probably miss the cut.

but those are songs the causal fans don't remember and won't notice are left off the collection. the idea for greatest hits to get as many of the big known hits on a cd to make it appeal to the largest number of people. Madge's highest selling album of all time is the Immaculate Collection. When you have so many hits as she does 37 in the US 64 in the UK, most of the lesser known hits are going to be left off to make room for the bigger ones. Most hardcore fans have all the songs anyway. A box set would be great but Madge isn't a big fan of retrospectives, hince her not having a star on the walk of fame yet, or putting out the songs she didn't deem worth of release in the first place. It's quality an image control on her part. Also I'm suspecting a few hits that were on either the Immaculate Collection, Something to Remember or GHV2 to be left off to ensure those continue to sell

Yes, the fans have them. However, if it's just a rehash of The Immaculate Collection and GHV2 with some newer songs added, what's the point? As for quality control, I'd put "Burning Up", "Oh Father" and "Bad Girl" against any of her huge hits- they belong.

If she really listened to fans, it will be better than GVH2 and IMC. "Everybody" aleady seems like an odd choice. I don't think all three of those cuts will make it but possibly one of them will.

Oh Father was on Something To Remember, so I doubt it would appear on it, it broke her streak of top tens hits spanning from Borderline til Cherish. Bad Girl didn't chart well so i doubt it will appear. Burning Up might.

I was doubting "Burning Up". After all, we already have "Everybody" and I think cutting both "Lucky Star" and "Borderline" would be unusual. Since "Bad Girl" is such a favorite and didn't make it on "Something To Remember", it might get another life. I'm still hoping and wonder about "Who's That Girl". It will really piss me off if that one doesn't make the cut this time. If it doesn't, she's an awful person! I just read that some poll about the best loved Madonna songs had it ranking at number ten!

"Who's That Girl" was a bigger hit than the 3 I mentioned, but I don't think it holds up nearly as well.

I love the cover! I guess a lot of it depends on how you feel about Andy Warhol, whose work inspired the cover.
I'm a huge fan of Andy. I actually have a copy of the Marilyn Monroe painting in my bedroom with the blue eyeshadow which obviously this cover draws on a lot.

Thats what I was going to say, that it reminds me of the Marilyn Monroe artwork. I like it, but yes it could of been a slightly better picture, although I dont think this one is that bad

the picture itself isn't bad. she's got a tough girl sneer in it. it's what's been done to it that makes her look like she's riding the short bus.

As is always the case with Madonna artwork for her CDs,the fans come up with ideas that are better than what she ultimately chooses:

MY LATEST CONCEPT IDEA IS THAT EACH MADONNA RELEASE THAT CAME OUT ON WB - WHETHER IT BE A SOUNDTRACK, COMPILATION, EP, LIVE CD OR PROPER STUDIO RECORD SHOULD TAKE AT LEAST ONE SONG FROM EACH. THE VERSION SELECTED HERE SHOULD THEN BE REMASTERED (AS WHATEVER EDIT OR MIX IT WAS IN ON THAT PARTICULAR RECORD)

For example:

so im impressed the original everybody will make it. i believe that Burning Up and Holiday should come from this one. Lucky star should be a DUB 12" and leave it at that. 'Borderline' as her first top ten hit is also a must.

LIKE A VIRGIN, MATERIAL GIRL, DRESS YOU UP. Done.

Lets be real here - you truly only need Papa Don't Preach and Open Your Heart. the other 3 are Live to tell, true blue and isla bonita. while im sure the bitch will include isla, i'd say dump all 3 for Where's The Party. Stick an album track fan favorite in.

We JUST NEED 'WHO's THAT GIRL." UNACCEPTABLE

OK here is where we take into the groove from - the DUB version at the end. remaster the fuck out of it

and so on and so forth...

The original versions which will need to be remastered of LAP, EY and Keep It Together. This record was when madonna stopped doing just R and B and incorporated some actual soul into her own pop productions.

Not taking this version of Vogue - I guess if we MUST take something here, it should be "Sooner or Later". Period.

I would take the killer Q SOUND mix of Vogue and remaster it from there. Most of the mixes on her suck anyway. The Holiday version on here is so played out.

deeper and deeper and Fever - get them to sound GOOD!

[b]
gotta be take a bow, the only thing that salvaged this record into becoming another multiplatinum smash
