Weapon of Choice basically used to open for RHCP and Fishbone. I saw them once and was blown away and they were almost better than Fishbone. Check them out here if interested. Or if you ever get to see them live they are great. They were Snoop's band when he was on Jay Leno.

http://www.weaponofchoice.net/ I checked them out on allmusic.com and saw that their debut came out in 1994. I'm not very much into modern funk so I guess I'll pass for now. Might be that I'll learn to appreciate contemporary funk someday but for now Imma stick with my 70's stuff It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

and what do you think of Clinton's solo albums? Parliament, by far. I'm not that keen on GC's solo work. I like some of his solo stuff, but I don't really love any of it. Paradigm by GC and Prince is some funky shit! The guitar work on that is pure funk!

Do you agree that Fancy Footwork is the funkiest album released since Andre's Livin' in The New Wave.

What do you think about these relatively obscure funk bands
brass construction and mass production? What do you think about brass construction's horn section? What do you think about some of mass production's cheesy album covers? Don't laugh at my funk

This is a great thread. I tried to see if anyone mentioned these bands, I hope I didn't overlook...
What do you think about B.T. Express,One Way featuring Al Hudson, Bloodstone, New Birth, Johnny Guitar Watson and Fatback Band? Are they funky or just.... something else? ...it's groovy baby

The ones in bold are the ones I'm familiar with/I have listened to. B.T. Express has some badd jams on their debut, especially the title track (Do It 'Til You're Satisfied). I frequently play along to that song with my bass Johnny 'Guitar' Watson is definitely an underrated brotha when it comes to funk. He is one badd motha, no doubt. Ain't That A Bitch is a great album, check it out. Fatback Band are sho nuff funky. They have some really cool stuff, like People Music. The album is full of cool basslines and some real fonk It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

speciallove said: vainandy said: They had a really great jam in 1981 called "Turn Up The Music". okay - I will have to look into that Firecracker was taken from their 1979 album In the purist form. Turn up the music was a great jam. I can't think of the album it was on at this time. One of their most underrated albums was 1978's three miles high. The radio singles from that album were Just wanna make a dream come true and Groove Me. The title track was good too. Right now all the group has is a greatest cd compilation from Rhino which is weak because they left off some of mass production's best work. Nothing from three miles high is on the compilation which is a travesty. I have seen on spun.com where the group has a double disc coming out with in the purist form/believe on it. I think wine flow disco is on the believe album. Don't laugh at my funk

Finnish funk, does it exist? I don't think there are any clubs or bars entirely devoted to funk. There are places where one can hear funk occasionally, though. There's a cool jazz club downtown that sometimes has funky acts playing there. Finnish funk does exist, but it is by no means a huge genre It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
