I was not a huge fan of atomic dog or the computer games album. I loved you shouldn't of bit fish. Quickie and last dance were my jams. I also liked double oh oh and bullet proof which was definitely funky from some of my best friends are jokes. I also bought r&b skeletons in the closet with hey good lookin(vanessa williams sung backing vocals) and the silly but funky do fries go with the shake. Which of george solo albums you consider to be the best. I don't like GC's solo stuff all that much... Skyy or One Way, who you got? Do you listen to Dyke and the Blazerrs? Is Charles Wright's 103 Street Band thr most underrated/forgotten Funk artist ever? Bernie Skyy Haven't gotten into them yet, maybe will at a later time. Probably not, but they are ndeed very underrated. Kool & the Gang, Before JT or after JT, (tell the truth)?
Who had the baddest horn section ever? Do you like the Temptaions funky material better then their classic Motown material. Basically Ruffin Tempts or Dennis.? PRINCE: Always and Forever

Again, I'm not saying he can't be funky and I'm not saying I don't like him, I love the lil' fella. Go check out Prince: Music & More and you'll see what I'm talkin' about... ... goddamn famboys actin' like Prince is the messiah of funk. Our Little Purpleness couldn't hold a candle to most real funk bands. [Edited 7/5/07 22:05pm] What About Prince's playing (tech, style, theory, etc) makes him so much inferior to that of the great funk artists?
On a scale of 1 to 5 how funky are the Isley brothers? What instrument has the greatest impact on funk music; the guitar, bass, or the synth? I guess it comes down to the way he brings it all together. He rarely has bass dominated tracks and uses too much cheesy synth stuff. Well, they could get down 'n' dirty when they wanted to, so I'll give a four. The bass. Also, he never dedicates an entire album to funk. I started listening to funk when I was about 16 or 17 years old. I've been into Prince for like uhm 12 years now or so and I stumbled upon this great website 'ere. I was a lurker at first, I read the posts of all these great old school funk cats, and whenever they mentioned a new act I looked it up and most of the time downloaded one or two songs, if possible, from eMule. Even before that, I had actually bought a couple of funk albums, or well, a couple of funk collections to be more precise. I had one by Rick James and Sly & The Family Stone 'n' somethin' else too but I can't recall what it was Anyways, me getting into funk was kinda like natural progression. I got into Mike (solo) and Prince when I was younger and, in the case of Prince, I just went backwards in time and found all this great stuff that had influenced the lil fella when he was growing up. That's how I found my thang It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Hey...
Uh, I got a few questions: Of all the Marvin joints post-1971, what do you consider his most funkiest? And what of his late-period albums you think brought out the funk (In Our Lifetime or Midnight Love?) Is there a possibility that "Shotgun" was the first funk song ever recorded (I think the song was released a few months before "Papa" though some may say James did it with "Outta Sight")? Would you consider the Funk Brothers a funk band? The Pointer Sisters or Labelle ---- That's all I can come up with at the moment. | |

Well, In Our Lifetime has some cool funky cuts, like Ego Tripping Out In all honesty, I must admit that 60's 'funk' is not my main area of expertise, so I can't give you a definite answer on that one. The Funk Brothers are ndeed funky. Not a 'funk band' in the traditional sense, perhaps, but sho nuff funky. James Jamerson is just... No love for Hardness, eh? I exposed my girlfriend to the stuff I listen to and she likes some of it (she likes some Slave, Rick James, Brothers Johnson, Zapp, The Jacksons, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder...) A drummer friend of mine (a very talented drummer, might I add) likes some funk stuff. We are both very fond of The Meters. We've been planning on getting together sometime and jammin' out to some Meters tunes Another one of my friends also digs funk, and has a buttload of vinyl to boot A Finnish orger (former orger) emmi, also dug the FONK. Other than that, most Finns are all about metal. Funk fans are, unfortunately, very rare in these parts of the world.
