I always thought that the reason is not that he didn't find any label to distribute that album but he didn't find any label to pay the amount he was demanding for it.

So the title track has been released... versions of 1000 Light Years From Here and When She Comes were on HNR2... and Hot Summer and Same Page, Different Book were streamed...

Has anyone else heard of the other songs? Have any of them been floating around as bootlegs? I've not heard anything besides the ones I listed.

Yep, 'Check The Record' was played at the Dakota Jazz Club in two shows (2013)...Excellent audience recordings

Lots of people buy and listen to vinyl. Vinyl has come back in a huge way on the last several years.

It has come back, but it is still a niche market that accounts for a small percentage of overall music sales.

As a Prince fan I would assume everyone will buy this (and all other previously unreleased albums), but I guess $10 is too much for some to help support the Estate (and future releases)...

I'll hazard a guess that all previously released songs from this set will be different (or at least mixed into better shape).

I don't know if I agree. There were 1.8 million vinyl sales in the week before Xmas last year which was more than CD sales. Yes ok they were probably Xmas presents but if that's the case, a lot of people are buying for those who have record players. If you factor in sales of used vinyl and from specialty stores that don't get tracked by Soundscan, I'd wager that it's much more than a niche market. I buy vinyl and I'm seeing more and more instances of vinyl issuing on the first day of album release.

You need to compare vinyal sales to digital music (sales and streaming). Vinyal is a fraction of that. Vinyl is a niche market.

Waiting to see the price on Amazon UK when they sort things out. First alternative, RockItPoole (it's listed for 129 pounds there). Otherwise, no idea. Buying from outside the UK is going to be a challenge now that you have to pay import taxes + handling fees and whatnot (thanks Brexit and all you Brexiteers).

Hot Summer got a real bashing on here when it was released. It must be one of his most disliked songs. I always quite enjoyed it and I think Same Page is a great track. Again I don't think it was that warmly received on release. It will be interesting to see the critical reaction to this album as so far everything from the Vault has received fantastic reviews overall.

even his former associates made fun of how basic Hot Summer was. was it members from The Family or The Revolution that made the tune into a commercial for something?

everyone was shitting on it at one point.

prince took out a whole page advert in a magazine saying something like "It's Gonna B A Hot Summer"

then the song dropped and it was what it was.

i think the reaction to that song might have been a small part of why he ditched the whole album.

Yes of course, streaming is the predominant format but I dont believe vinyl is a niche market anymore.

No vinyl player either but you can get it from Japan With CD/Bluray I cannot confirm if it comes with the booklet or not but I would presume it will albeit a smaller one.

Boxset for me though as it's sounds like a neat collectors item for probably not too much more than the japan option plus shipping and import fees.

However I wish they had done 2 versions of the deluxe with all the added content for both CD and Vinyl fans instead of all these gold/clear options
