I'm not sure I'd truste them, they don't have a great reputation. The price would be fair, however are you sure you wouldn't have to pay import taxes on that?

I need the CD and Bluray. Why would you not package both. I ain't buying records as well.

Reason why, I always preferred Japanese releases as it has most of the times value added. It should meet your expectations. 😄 https://www.cdjapan.co.jp...SICP-31432 [Edited 4/9/21 1:12am]

Ships to Germany for €67.43 EUR with insurance and release date arrival.

Perfect!

Thanks for the link, Ramzoo thumbs up!

Does anyone know if in the UK, ordering from CD Japan covers import tax, or is that an extra bonus to look forward to when it’s sent?
There may or may not be something coming!

It has come back, but it is still a niche market that accounts for a small percentage of overall music sales.

I don't know if I agree. There were 1.8 million vinyl sales in the week before Xmas last year which was more than CD sales. Yes ok they were probably Xmas presents but if that's the case, a lot of people are buying for those who have record players. If you factor in sales of used vinyl and from specialty stores that don't get tracked by Soundscan, I'd wager that it's much more than a niche market. I buy vinyl and I'm seeing more and more instances of vinyl issuing on the first day of album release.

Of course compared to CD sales vinyl may be doing better. CDs are dying. That's not a reasonable comparison.

You need to compare vinyal sales to digital music (sales and streaming). Vinyal is a fraction of that. Vinyl is a niche market.

That's not a good comparison either. Comparing vinyl sales with streaming is like comparing dvd sales with watching Netflix. One is a physical product, the other isn't. There is a market for vinyl and that's all that counts.
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

They add VAT at checkout so there shouldn't be any further tax to pay. I've ordered from them 13 times before and haven't ever been hit with addtional charges on arrival.

For now I have ordered the black vinyl. £34.99 is still very expensive. I would expect it to be priced at the most £24.99

I'm not too bothered about the dvd. I will probably order the cd at some point.

I've ordered from CD Japan before and was charged 20% of the value plus an £8 handling fee, although that was years ago so I can't say whether or not VAT is paid at checkout now.

That's a mad price and isvstill showing as unavailable so far.

I gave up on the UK site this morning so ordered from Amazon USA. $124 including shipping to the UK and VAT, that's about £90.

I have pre-ordered the standard CD from Amazon UK to show my support and I'm looking forward to hearing the album in it's entirety. The CD / Blu-Ray / Vinyl package is too rich for me.

I'm very sure the price will go down ..just like SOTT deluxe...from 200 € to 143 €...so...I am quite calm about that..

I'm pumped for the choice of this release, but based on the pricing and deliberate weakening of the CD package, I think this is where I step off physical purchases.

If the estate think maximising the offer for premium vinyl purchases only is the way to go, they are actually going to lose sales in the long term.

When 50% of the physical collectors (CD) don't get a premium package, only a certain percentage of them will bite the bullet and buy the full vinyl set. The rest will buy the cheap disc, switch to digital, give up collecting or illegally download. Plus, they'll miss out on the minority that would buy both the CD and vinyl packaging.

The price point is now getting out of hand, with cheap replica stage passes and tickets, which cost cents to make, thrown in to hide the fact that it's not much music for the price.

I was hoping the poor CD offer on the SOTT package was a one off, but it's clearly the strategy.

Looks like I'll have a heap of money and storage space in the coming years!

As a Prince fan I would assume everyone will buy this (and all other previously unreleased albums), but I guess $10 is too much for some to help support the Estate (and future releases)...

I'll hazard a guess that all previously released songs from this set will be different (or at least mixed into better shape).

[Edited 4/9/21 7:19am]

Help the estate? Yeah, uh, when I give to charity it's to groups that need it. Anyway, I bought 2 copies of 1999 DLX, 4 of SOTT DLX, plus Originals, Ultimate Rave (which I ended up selling because it's boring just like I remembered) and the "One Night Alone" live set but I'm not automatically buying everything with Prince's name on it. I stopped doing that in 1999 after Rave. The tracks I've heard so far don't interest me....at all. I have tons of Prince music I listen to and only so much time and space (I don't do digital). I'm not a collector or hoarder. I love everytning from 1978 to 1993 so any Deluxe sets from that era are automatic buys but after 1994-now I've made my own Prince albums by picking the songs I genuinely like and will listen to from the many albums. I do keep full albums on "Emancipation", "3121", "Planet Earth" and "HitNRun Phase 2", however.

Totally agree with this post. I would happily spend more for a fuller CD package.

It's booming in a niche field. It's only outperforming CD's in profit terms, not volume. Here in the UK for example, CDs outsold vinyl in volume terms by 8 to 1 in 2020.

It's the margins drving the vinyl 'revival', because the buyers are willing to pay far more for the format. That's why the Prince estate strategy is trying to push people to vinyl. It's purely for profit. But I think it will have a negative long term effect because they are failing to cater for the market of greater volume.

gotta be honest, i've only ever bought the cheapo cd one-off releases (except piano and a mic because it was dumb as hell) because the sde's are, in fact, mad overpriced, but 11 something dollars for a full album of new material? i'll buy that gladly, i may even buy the vinyl if the price can get a little lower here in the next few months, i don't remember how that works though i do remember with the SDE's it always had a few bucks knocked off the preorder at certain stores if you waited long enough

Where the video is likely region coded. Which tells us they are trying to force fans in the rest of the world to buy the most expensive set if they want all the music and video content, otherwise they could have released the CD/blu-ray package everywhere.

Carnt believe its that long away, anyhow amazon uk say its unavailable! When they never had it it the first place! What are other uk fans doing to buy this?

Waiting to see the price on Amazon UK when they sort things out. First alternative, RockItPoole (it's listed for 129 pounds there). Otherwise, no idea. Buying from outside the UK is going to be a challenge now that you have to pay import taxes + handling fees and whatnot (thanks Brexit and all you Brexiteers).

My choice of package is the SoTT Deluxe CD/DVD. I like the 12" size with big booklet, but to have CDs. I don't want vinyl. TBH I'd be happy for a complete digital release including all music, video, artwork and notes.

The Blu-ray Disc region codes are as follows:

Region A: North America, South America, U.S. Territories, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia
Region B: Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand.
Region C: Asia (except for Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia)
Region FREE: This is not an official setting, but discs that have the region FREE symbol either have no flag set or have all region flags (A, B & C) set.

https://www.sony.co.uk/el...s/00029369

So the Japan CD/blu-ray should play in the USA but may not in Europe (unless it’s region free/all flags set).

Not going to pre-order this album based on what I've heard. Title track, Hot Summer, Same Page. Mediocre. Wait and hear mode before I order. Hey I'm excited there's new material but I don't have to buy everything. LOL.

I feel ya but I rolled the dice for 12 bux on Amazon anyway. The title track was interesting the first time but I know it aint gonna age well. Hot Summer I don't like. I dig Same Page but I already have it. There's a new version of When She Comes and that song's OK. I'm skipping the DVD because god damn I don't need to hear Let's Go Crazy, Delirious, Kiss, LRC and all that for the millionth time again.

EDIT:

And DjThunderfunk posted an Amazon link for the CD that was like 12 dollars on page 3 or 4 for those looking
