I'm talking vinyl, here, of course>
Ugh, storing Welcome 2 America at the end of the collection, as if it came after Art Official Age (Or HitNRun Vol.2 when they finally release the HitNRuns on vinyl?) Heresy!
It will go on the shelf before Plectrum Electrum and after LotusFlow3r/MPLSound. Eventually, it will go after the 20Ten vinyl - when they get around to issuing it. Release dates essentially mean nothing in my collection. By and large, it's all about when the music was MADE.

When 'His Majesty's Pop Life' (CD) & 'Originals' (CD w/ NC2U (Cinamatic MIX)) was an "only Japanese" release, i found a way. i'll pay the extra few for this version. THEN, rip it to the harddrive and put it in the box next the other stuff. i have no "shelves" "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" | |

not happening here as much but i am just so incredibly over the people that scream "they passed on 80s material for this!!!", it's so juvenile and dumb. it's been literally nothing but 80s since 2016 barring, what, one track? what a bunch of jackasses, reducing this guy's life work to a 10 year period. it's to be expected from the casuals, but it stings more when i know how awesome this release is going to be

You can get a cheap blu-ray player, and they all play dvds and cds too. So, there's really no reason not to. If you can afford this deluxe set you can afford it. [Edited 4/8/21 13:44pm] Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

140 euros is really cheap for a blu ray and a CD. In fact, knowing the CD is sold separately at 15€,the vinyl 28€, it means the blu ray only cost 97€, which is really given. You ABSOLUTELY have to preorder now, because it could well become more expensive. I wouldn't be amazed the boxset price rises up to 300 € in a few days, which would mean only 253€ for a blu ray- which is still a good price.

The W2A tour was the last one I saw. While I don't really get why they give us a CD as well as the vinyl, I'm still gonna fork out the cash because it's Prince and I'm not a miser.

I wasn't expecting the 1999 SDE to be sold out for this long (still don't have it) and so I just went ahead and ordered this one outright. I'll get the individual cd one day when I'm near a record store (if that ever happens again lol).

I've been waiting for this album 4 like 4ever. I was a frequent guest at the "21 Nite Stand" @ The Forum & was TOTALLY in awe of Prince Rogers Nelson's(r.i.p.) newly unveiled cut six-pack body. To be able to take friends that never experienced him live 4 only $25 was an added treat.
W2A sounds like a hit single. It would be great to use it during these racial diversity times that are the main focus. Prince(r.i.p.) was ahead of his time.

1999 SDE was never out of print in France, I still see it regularly in my town.

Well, that was ten years ago. The full scope of Obama's presidency and current "team" moves, have left many re-considering their positions. Too bad Prince can't speak for himself in 2021 - MSM, record company & estate will milk this album for its supposed context regardless. Lol. Dream on. Not only is that irrelevant to the album's release, it's also flat out not true. Republicans are in the gutter given they're the sex offending insurrectionist party. Prince wasn't either a sex offender or an insurrectionist. He was religious and didn't vote. And I'm sure a political album by a rich black person will have some interesting thoughts that may conflict with the wider public but he didn't vote for any Republicans in this lifetime or the next. [Edited 4/8/21 9:13am] :yeahthat: I don't think Prince would be impressed by christoboble

I thought he was republican leaning in the early 80's in some regards (sure he did want gun control after Lennon's assassination). Especially the song "America". He did seem politically naive to me back then. But he was young and didn't get past high school. He has always been anti-war though. America is ironic. It is not a Right wing song

It's great news we have a new release on the horizon but just a few commments. I feel like these new packages are getting out of control. Being a Prince fan is turning into an expensive proposition. Also, it's bad news that our options are more limited this time (a blu-ray only available via the deluxe edition). These estate releases are smelling more like cash-ins with each release. Also, why use amateurs like Steve Parke, and that other guy, to design and package these releases? Parke openly admits he never quite knew what he was doing at PP. Does he know now? I don't know. It just doesn't feel like any of this has the shine of excellence to me. And, Jesus Christ, why release a spoken word, with no melody, as your lead single? Yes, I'll buy the deluxe but I know I'll just look at the W2A reproduction ephemera once and put away; and I'll sure as hell flip past any acadmeic essay as fast as the air is free. Just put all the music up on a subscription-based site and be done with it. Susan Rogers is right. We're all here for the music anyway. I get that this will never happen because there's less money to be made. But still, it's a shame

No, I don't think he was. After the El Rey Theatre press conference / show in 2003 (or was it 2004?) and on his way to his limousine, he walked right in front of me, staring up and right into the eyes of this 6'3" man. Didn't look impressed. Perhaps intimidated.
