Tony M. could ALWAYS rap well... its just that Prince's music was never conducive to hiphop... Tony M. did the best anyone could, given the beats he had to rap over... Love 2 The 9s aint hiphop... neither is Sexy MF... Prince used Tony all wrong Yes! Saw him live last year and his flow was on point on the likes of Call The Law and Deuce And A Quarter

I'm really looking forward to this if it's true It is his best 90s album after all And the songs are all really strong Plus I hope to have versions without the rapping So it should be great

Hopefully they’ll include the slow heavy funk version of Horny Pony! I kinda like that version more than the fast one. Also Something Funky This House Comes and evening the early version of Daddy Pop with the Apache break more prominent would show he was using breakbeats pre-Drum n Bass!

So, as usual, you still want they include songs you already listened to ad nauseam instead of all brand"new" Material. And when the set is release, as usual, you will again complain about the fact you already knew too much songs. . Funny.

You're right....I would like a bunch of unheard and astonishing music I never would expect...not the whole mixes or boots I already have in good condition..I want to be surprised.

"Open Book" & "Get Blue" in pristine, mastered quality makes this set interesting to me but I would MUCH prefer "Parade" SDE as not only is it my favourite album/period but like another post said I want to be suprised by something new I am may hear, just like "Be's Like That Sometimes" & "Love & Sex" were for me on the SOTT SDE.

My thoughts too...
I don't get that either
We all should be hoping for unheard tracks since we already have the album. Plus this one doesn't need any remaster ? [Edited 12/15/20 0:20am]

Maybe we'll get both D&P and Parade Super Deluxe, since they both celebrate their 30th and 35th anniversary next year. And while we're at it... a Controversy Super Deluxe would fit in as well!

We definitely need "Work That Fat" in perfect condition on the vault disc(s). I play that for people who have no idea who it is. Then when they listen back the second time they can actually hear Prince using his regular voice in the background. "Anna Stesia come to me, talk to me, ravish me

[Edited 12/15/20 0:20am] Good point : I think that from that D&P era the tapes were already digitized. It should be easier for Michael Howe than to run through the tapes of Parade, SOTT...

Not sure exactly when to draw the line but here we have a record explicitely mastered for the CD technology (as opposed to a cheap CD transfer as with older records), so IDK whether there's a point in remastering albums from the 90's onwards. I remember once seeing a 1998 remaster of a 1996 Sting album, as part of a series of Sting remasters. Was there such an improvement in technology between 1996 and 1998 that justified a remaster? I doubt it. Same with Kate Bush remastering both her 2011 albums in 2018: what could possibly be done in 2018 that couldn't in 2011? So IDK, in 1991 CD technology was nearly a decade old. The only reasons I can think of for remastering albums from 1991 onwards would maybe be either to "de-loudness war" them in case the original intent was to be louder at the cost of quality, or to have an engineer who's better qualified than the original engineer do it (for example, Bernie Grundman may be better at the job than most people). I'd ageree D&P does not require a remaster as bad as many of the 80s stuff did (especially SOTT) but i'm positive more can be squeezed out of the master tapes. Those in charge of SOTT definitely knew what they were doing and I have very high hopes that they'll continue to do this work on future releases.

. Technology has progressed close to three decades since D&P, so perhaps with a good engineer we can enjoy even better mastering....

Good catch! I forgot it because it was only released in Feb 1994 (incidentally, the same day as TMBGITW), long after the D&P era. But since it was recorded 4 days after D&P's release and had virtually nothing to do with what was going on in early 1994, I guess it makes more sense to include it with D&P, yes. Yes, please give us a SDE from the 90s next! The man had an approx 40 year-long recording career, and it’s time for the posthumous releases to explore more than small slice of that time period. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

. Why? Why not a strictly chronological pass over the albums? Because of money. They do not do it for the music. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

P&M83, PR Deluxe, Originals, 1999 SDE, and SotT SDE is basically jumping around the 80s. I’m ok with next albums being Lovesexy SDE, Batman SDE, Graffiti Bridge SDE, etc., but I don’t see anybody suggesting that. . Parade is one of my favorite albums, but I’ll be very disappointed if that’s the next SDE since they basically stuck a bunch of Parade era stuff onto SotT SDE and left off a bunch of SotT related stuff. I'm starting to think that maybe the reason for a hold-up on a "Parade" deluxe is because they want to include the final Yokohama 9/9/86 Revolution concert in it, but they can't find it...I don't know. I know I've heard the entire audio if it. But does the video of the concert exist (other than the few scenes I've seen)? Given the history of this era, the final show being included would be a good "selling point", so to speak. As far as a "Diamonds and Pearls" deluxe...it'll be interesting for sure to see what unreleased tracks are included. Most likely some stuff nobody's ever heard will be on it. Exiles of the Nation
