Please include link as well
I know but the person who I saw the info from is always given reliable info! which is good
I hope it's true, 6 CD"S of extra material would be insane!!!
LINK or it's not true. Period.
Stop with the incessant requests for links. Go find it yourself if you need one so bad. Also, not having a link doesn’t make something not true. Stop it. Damn, it’s just an album discussion. It’s not that serious. |

That's simply untrue.

I'll never understand the configuration junkies who pine for official releases of stuff we already have 85% of the original tracks already officially released. 3 discs Crystal Ball 2 discs Dream Factory. c'mon.
absolutely, 100% "NO" on those configurations. we can make them ourselves if they just include the missing tracks on the outtakes discs. it would be a waste of space with all of those tracks in the vault that could be included instead of already released material.
Agree. I've made my own configurations years ago. No need to put out the original Crystal Ball. |

That Crucial bootleg was a great album. I too would recreate it if all the tracks were available in excellent quality. My fear is Cosmic Day will be left off due to it's musical similarities to George Harrison's What is Life.
Crucial was one of the best bootlegs ever.
Crucial was my very first Bootleg on CD, purchased back at the local record store back in Spring of 1991. I was a junior in High School and only had enough $$ to buy one CD ($29.99 was the going rate).
It was between Crucial and Crystal Ball (NOT the version to be released from NPG in 1998 OR the original configuration from 1987, but, a bootleg with similiar tracks/era of the Crucial CD).
I felt I chose wisely, not to dismiss Crstal Ball offerings at the time... |

I have such great memories of that bootleg. I was very young when I bought it and there was no internet back then, so I used to ponder on where this music had come from and try to understand why Prince hadn't officially released such great tracks. |

I really like the idea of saving re-configurations of Dream Factory, Camille and Crystal Ball for future releases - I think these are very much in the spirit of Record Store Day - and with the original artwork would be so cool.
But I'm really wondering whether the outtakes will include the edits/segues between tracks that run together - or include unedited versions (or both). On Crystal Ball, Rebirth of The Flesh sequed directly into Play In The Sunshine, The Ball into Joy In Repetition, etc. I'd love to have the unedited versions of all outtakes - especially Joy In Repetition with that slow haunting intro. But without the edits/segues we can't re-create the other projects as they were configured (unless you use bootlegs and sound editing software to fill the gaps). It's not a no-brainer to re-create these albums just by assembling a playlist as people have suggested.
Hopefully some of these questions will be answered in just a few days time! |

Didn't Prince himself say that albums still matter. The continuity adds to the overall experience. Disjointed playlists break the emerson. One strategy I wish WB would consider is to release the set with unedited tracks in whichever order they see fit, but include a download code so if you'd prefer to hear Dream Factory, Camille or Crystal Ball mastered as originally intended you can download whichever sequences you prefer. |

That, or just put various sequences on an online store. I'm not rich but I'll gladly pay several times for various sequences of any given album (it goes far beyond SOTT). |

Camille Dream Factory Crystal Ball (and the numerous planned and shelved live album releases) could be great Record Store Day releases, i think most of these releases have completed or conceptual artwork they could use. Or, because these sessions overlap and the tracks were reused for these albums, even a boxset with Camille, Dream Factory and Crystal Ball with a massive booklet with all artwork and notes from The Revolution, engibeers and whoever was around these recordings.
They could even do a Record Store Day release for 3 years:
Year 1: Dream Factory LP Year 2: Camille LP Year 3: Crystal Ball LP
and then a year later a CD boxset as I said above.
I don;t get why they don't use Record Store Day to release Live albums like alot of artists do.
Because almost no normal person cares about Record Store Day. |

No normal person cares about a Super Deluxe Edition of a 30+ year old album. Record Store Day would be a perfect place to release these fan-only half-finished albums. |

No "normal" person cares for these albums period. But these could be perfect fan releases on RSD, you know, like most releases on that day.

Streaming or RSD are the only two avenues for releasing stuff like Dream Factory while also hoping to generate some interest and/or revenue from people outside the hardcore fanbase. |

I am sorry neither of you walked in a record store during the past 10 years. There are plenty of boxsets being released. Maybe, you are not one of those guys who purchase music and you spend too much time downloading?

Exciting as it is.... I can't help but wonder if this is a missed opportunity in some ways. Like, Record Store Day would be the ideal opportunity to release Dream Factory, Black Album, Camille or something like that, with a bunch of extras in there too. Burying a bunch of unreleased music on what looks like just a remaster / reissue release is a bit of a shame. |

I guess I'll happily consider myself not a "normal person"... I love my vinyl and CD collection! And there is enough other people buying them for record stores to have the revival they've had in the last 10 years. (Long may it last!)
I'll happily buy the SOTT super deluxe and RSD releases of Dream Factory, Camille and Crystal Ball if the estate decide to do them! (And these were not half finished albums - each of the three had final mastering and were ready to release - before they were pulled.)

No one who has an account on this website is a normal person. I was being talked to by a royal sausage earlier.
To my knowledge no final mastered version of Dream Factory was ever completed? We know Camille got test pressings and Princevault has info about the Crystal Ball album being mastered so that must be final also. [Edited 6/4/20 11:34am] |
