i dont know maybe its just me but it feels strange to buy his music without him here.not that i wont buy some music but it still feels weird knowing that his approval isnt there it doesnt feel right.

MBGITW was his final big hit, his only UK #1 - I'm sure if they could've put it on in time they would've over something like a poor charting single like Glam Slam. To me this says there are still legal hoops to jump through before they can include material like this.

Thinking about what we could've got, I think this 2CD set and the announcement of PR Special Edition is nothing to complain about. It's only six months since his passing. There are many more releases to come in the future.

WBR apparently cannot use TGE tracks. I wouldn't be surprised if WBR have urged Prince repeatedly to do remastered and expanded releases and to allow them access to later material for inclusion on compilations.

It wasn't listed as such on the back cover of The Hits? They forgot? It decreases the value of it's inclusion? I don't know.

The only reason it's there is because it's one of his best known songs, if the live version hadn't been edited for the Hits, I doubt it would've been included here at all. I'm sure if they were including Prince's studio version they would've said so in the blurb purely for it's marketing potential. This is the Hits/B-sides version, plain and simple.

I wish they had put '4ever' on it... seems like a natural given that it would be the "title track" essentially.

I don't care about When Doves Cry, we already got the edit for that one on THTBS/TVBOP/Ultimate.
The one's I mention haven't been released on a commercial CD as of yet.

The greatest hits ain't for us the diehards. It's for Mr. and Mrs. EverybodyElse, and it will help keep the cash coming so we the diehards can have things like a Prince museum, more releases down the line, etc.

I'll gladly get both releases as a matter of supporting the legacy, but of course the PR Deluxe is what I'm really looking forward to.

i agree completely. i guess they would have done so if they'd stretched the release to 3 discs,
but they probably figured that would scare off occasional listeners and new fans due to costs,
or just the sheer bulk of material.
