I'm so glad it turned out not to be true. I was flummoxed! But I can understand the confusion. Whenever I look at those documents, my eyes just glaze over.

I was being a bit facetious. But of all the Prince books that are going to be out there, I'd put this at the bottom of the list. Of course, others might love it so to each his own (or her own).
There are going to be a lot of books so I don't know why this surprised me, but it did.

And does anyone wonder why Prince kept his family at arm's length?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Alan Leeds flat out side that from what he could tell they did not give a crap about him when he was growing up and that it drove Prince nuts that they had their hands out all the time but to his credit he did take care of them.
I would not be surprised if Brianna led a good life as a child up until the time her dad flipped his wheel. At what point do you put on your big girl pants and take care of yourself.
She has got to be as off as her dad if she does not see the problem with what she is doing. In addtion, if she is in such good graces with the Nelson's why don't they just give her a settlement.

I found her response to this question to be quite interesting: . Q: How many kids did Duane have? A: Me and Duane Nelson Jr. . No mention of Corey.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Do you think she is going to split any money with him? He can't even prove Duane was his dad.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Corey can prove that Duane was his dad through DNA. If Briana is successful with her claim (a big IF), and it has been proven that Corey is also Duane's child, it won't matter whether or not she wants to share. Duane's portion will be equally split between them and VN. . Maybe she is mad at Corey because he wants to take a DNA test and she does not. If Corey takes the test, then the judge will have to order her and the rest of the Nelson heirs to take one also, in order to compare the results. . There's a part of me that is not so sure that John was not Duane's father. It could very well be that John stepped in as a father figure to Duane after Duane's mother died, because he saw that Duane needed a father; but what if he acted as Duane's father because he was really Duane's biological father?

DNA testing of Mrs. Lazy Ass Briana would solve all of the mystery. Why do you think she does not want to take that test? Do you really think any court in the country is going to let her inherit without a DNA test. This would set a terrible precedent that would throw a lot of estates into disarray. I cannot see a court giving her the green light without thinking about the ramifications of letting someone inheriet who is not a blood relative without even bothering to do a DNA test.

New order displayed: http://www.mncourts.gov/m...ration.pdf
Judge says that if Corey can show prima facie evidence, by November 25, that he is related to Prince, that an order allowing him to take a dna test will be submitted. Imo, I think that the draft will and Duane's birth certificate might be enough to get the dna test.

I know that the judge dropped them, but they can still appeal. The door is still open for Corey though. He has until November 25 to show why he should be allowed to take the dna test. I think that he can easily do that by having his mother submit an afidavit saying that she slept with Duane and had Corey 9 months later, showing Duane's birth certificate (which has John listed as the father), and showing John's draft will which lists Duane as a son.

Motion for reconsideration DENIED. ( re: Corey Simmons) He is still excluded.
But if he can produce evidence that he has a genetic relationship to Prince by 11/25/2016 the Judge
will vacate the order and allow genetic testing. So I'm guessing CS is gone and out of it.

. Well, I wish them luck with that.

If he is not related he is gone. I would think that if he was Duane's son his mother would have gone to court for support which would have included a DNA test years ago.

You have to remember that Corey was born in 1977. DNA testing for paternity was not readily available to the genreal public until sometime in the mid 90's. Corey was over 18 by then, and I believe that Duane had a substance abuse problem, so Corey's mom probably did not bother with going after him for child support. I think the judge will rule that he can take a dna test, which I think is the best way to go. If he is not blood related, he can cut his losses and move on with his life. I think there's very little chance of winning an appeal, if they are not blood related. Btw, if they are not related, they should be gone. I think that Corey relizes this and is choosing to settle the matter once and for all. [Edited 11/2/16 13:05pm]

There was blood testing available prior to DNA but it wasnt as accurate and the results came back in percentages.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Blood tests can only rule people out, not determine paternity. Anyone with the same blood type as the biological father would not be excluded. However, if the kid had a blood type where there was no possiblity that a particular man could produce a child with whatever blood type, then the man would be excluded and positively determine not to be the father.

I respectfully disagree. HLA testing was used prior to DNA testing. It was not a test for blood typing but for genetic testing. I dont even think we were using DNA testing in the 90's because it was too expensive. I would have to google HLA if you want more information because we havent used HLA testing for years and I forget the specifics. [Edited 11/2/16 14:41pm]
