No one is rich, yet. First the government has to get paid based on what the estate is worth. That estimate is based on what they believe the estate might make in the future. Then the rest gets divvied up among who the court considers heirs and that's not very much when you look at the actual liquid assets. I really wish he'd left a will. It's breaking my heart to think that most of his legacy could end up going away for taxes. I really don't like that the tax bill is based on a number that's a guess at what the estate might earn. It's not right.

As I understand the small memorial at PP in April was because people had flown to MN so they did something small. The Exes & Kiran did the LA one for who knows what reason. Tyka said there would be a funeral in August (where the urn pic comes from), a [proper] private memorial for friends/fam (PP on saturday) and the tribute concert for the fans. It doesn't seem that big a deal but IMO the LA one was unnecessary & it's a shame the proper one happened so long after his passing but I'm sure with good reason. I doubt Prince would want a public funeral, he'd want a party for the fans.

I think he was cool with Tyka, she was working for him & I'm sure someone reported she was with him at the last PP dance party before he passed.

I understand however; I just feel that Ps family should have and could have done more. I understand that Prince would probably not want a funeral with people crying--he would want us to celebrate his music and his legacy, but still -- the least thing they can do is have a place where his loving fans can come and pay their respects.

They don't have enough money to organize a big memorial and I'm sure no one is going to lend them money until the estate issues are settled. The family members are not wealthy by any stretch....

I'm sure they have the money. How are the expenses being paid for PP then? I read that Bremer Trust is going to sell-off all of Prince's properties (he owns about 14 around Chanhassen). The most expensive property is around 1.2 M. Prince deserves to have a beautiful Memorial.

What makes you so entitled? Prince had to work constantly to maintain social distance. Everyone here always interpreted that as a slight -- stunning that anyone should think they had a personal bond that transcends that of his immediate family.

EnDo: Not sure who you are speaking to here, but I never said I was entitled to anything. I'm just saying the family could have given him a proper public memorial. I don't think that is asking for much. No need for rudeness here.

How do you define "proper memorial"? One that is on TV that you can watch? You really think Prince would have wanted that? Of course if he just had a will that spelled this all out we'd know what he wanted...

I'm not sure Prince would want a memorial service period. I'm not bashing anyone and I apologize if my comments came across that way. Anyway the event in October is for the fans and I think it's unrealistic to expect it to be free. I'm looking forward to that event. I think it will allow people to grieve but also have fun which is what Prince would want IMO.

Months after the world lost singer Prince to chronic pain,

his family has finally announced plans for an official tribute concert to celebrate the late artists’ life. Slated for October 13, the concert will be held at the U.S. Bank Stadium in his hometown of Minneapolis. Tickets go on sale this month, and participating artist will be announced on a rolling basis.

According to an official statement from the family: “We are excited for the opportunity to bring everyone together for the official family celebration of Prince’s life, music and legacy, and there is no better place to do it than his hometown of Minneapolis… We are honored by the artists who will pay tribute and grateful to those that have worked so hard to make this celebration possible.”
