Gwen was at his LA Memorial. When she was on Howard Stern she talked about recording with P and No Doubt in Minneapolis. Remember that list P made that was circulating that had all the people he appreciated? Gwen was on the list.

The Gwen Alan is referring to is his wife Gwen.

I feel asleep on my couch last night, and woke up later to TMZ . . . they were showing Prince's urn and the Musicology picture behind it.

At first the coverage was fairly respectful, until one of the TMZ girls started singing "Purple Cremains, Purple Cremains . . ." Not cool. mad

What makes you so entitled? Prince had to work constantly to maintain social distance. Everyone here always interpreted that as a slight -- stunning that anyone should think they had a personal bond that transcends that of his immediate family.

EnDo: Not sure who you are speaking to here, but I never said I was entitled to anything. I'm just saying the family could have given him a proper public memorial. I don't think that is asking for much. No need for rudeness here. cool

There's nothing rude in what I said. Were you really expecting there to be a public funeral where you could go look at a casket or a corpse? Prince clearly never intended that to happen.

What exactly would you propose?

//- Prince had his son cremated so I am under the impression that he was not down for the casket and public display that you have at a traditional service. This was his close friends and family. I love how they gave the fuck you to the media they learned from the Jedi master of media evasiveness.

I think that there is one thing we all need to remember and that is that every single one of us on the org is in pain right now. We all have our thoughts on how people should have said good bye to Prince and that was going to happen, but deep down what ever we think and feel right now we all agree on one thing. WE ALL MISS HIM SO MUCH. His family did what was right for them at a very hard time. I might not like some of it but it was not down to me (Thank God) it was up to the people that really new him. My thoughts are with them all.

Also oliviacamron I am over in England so can't get together with you(AS MUCH AS i WOULD LOVE TO) but if there is anyone in Wiltshire that wants a Prince Party I would love to do it again.

The hard truth is the family isn't obligated to help provide "closure" for fans. Most celebrities don't have public memorials broadcast on CNN. I think the family views this event in October as for the fans. I'm sure it will bring s range of emotions and hopefully provide the "closure" some are looking for. But at some point we all need to figure this out on our own and just remember the last thing Prince would want is for all of us to be sad and depressed. He was full of life and would want all of us to be too. smile

i don't feel like the family owes me anything. it would be a better look for them, to have been more streamline and organized. i don't hold that against them either, they are in an impossible situation, with limited resources and no experience with this stuff. whatever they wanna do is fine i just find the gift bag thing tacky.

Can't Leeds ever say anything without one-upmanship being interjected?

I don't like this comment. Was it really necessary for him to establish some kind of elitist pecking order?

"There were a handful of people from each era of Prince but this was not a reunion for every damn person who ever worked for him. It was mostly those from way back in the day...Andre, Dez, Craig Rice, Me, Gilbert Davison and a smattering of folks from his most recent years."

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

He stopped working with Prince around 1993 or so? I guess he feels his 'era' was superior. If that's so I think he's full of it. Folks like John Blackwell, Rhonda Smith, Morris Hayes, Ida Nielsen are as good as anyone he worked with in the 80s.

FWIW his comment does seem bitchy or elitist to me. alan was around for the apotheosis, the trip to the mountain top. to the popular conscious that's the only period that matters. no one has been singing 'musicology', 'push it up' or 'screwdriver' for the last four months, and i wouldn't look for it to happen. blackwell, ida and the rest mentioned were as good or better musicians than some of the others but no one cares.

===

to most people early prince = PR = prince and the revolution and

late prince = prince live = prince and whatever touring band he had.

yeahthat

If this was his first time sniping I wouldn't even complain but for somebody who had not had a relationship with the man for over twenty years he spends a lot of time throwing shade and backhanded compliments whenever he opens his face.

His POV is given way too much weight on the org.

If you listen to any of his interviews, whether from the 90s or since Prince's death, it's very clear that this smug pr!ck thinks he was smarter than Prince. Sort of a real-life Bart, if such a thing could exist.

Does anyone seriously think anyone will mourn him when he's gone? More like, who? (Oh yeah, some guy that wrote liner notes for one of Prince's albums, also managed the roadies for several of Prince's tours.)

Part of the problem is too many blow smoke up his a** constantly.

The memorial should not be about who he thinks is worthy.

Didn't he post some crap on Facebook after Prince played SNL in 2014? I remember reading it here. That performance blew me away. And I'm not the only one....do a Twitter search and you'll see a lot of people felt the same way.
