Prince was in complete control of every aspect of his life. Always had been. For someone in that position, it is going to be very hard for them to accept that some aspect of their life was no longer under control - addiction. He would have fought against it tooth and nail. He would have hidden it from everyone for as long as possible. He may well have tried to kick the habit by himself. It may have only been towards the end that anyone around him even knew and Prince finally realised he couldnt do it alone. But by then his body was weak and those around him just didnt have the time or knowledge to really guage the problems and help. By the time they stepped in, it was too late. The chances are we will find no untoward prescriptions, no doctor shopping, just a man that tried to take it all on by himself, too proud and stubborn to ask for help from those around him, and lost.

Can this part be closed untill the official report is released? Or do we really need another 50 pages of speculation?

Some of us are grieving here and talking about what could have caused Prince's sudden death or speculating, as you call it, is helping me cope with the loss of my favorite singer for most of my life, the past 38 years. I've been down with Prince since his very first LP when I was 12 years old.

I agree.

This is a forum for discussion.

In the absence of definitive information it is quite normal for a certain degree of speculation to take place, I dont see that as necessarily being dishonourable, most folks will be able to discrimintate between what is plausible within the realm of speculation untill the facts are known.

I've followed the man religiously for almost 25 years. But all this speculation doesn't contribute to any one's grief process. It really doesn't. People are just fooling them selves without the facts. Many people will be devastated when the truth comes out, or they will realise all speculation was just lost energy. Anyways, just my two cents.

When the truth comes out what ever speculation there has been will become meaningless and will fade away.

In the meantime I dont see how censoring ... peoples thoughts, feelings, curioosities, need for closure, and speculation's based on whatever information there is, does any good. If you banned that here it will just occur in other places online anyway as its obviously something people need to talk about.

I have always been hugely into Prince since I was 14 and I am now 46.

I personally dont get the fans that say "I dont wanna know, dont care how he passed,"

IMO its completly normal to want to know. Not from some type of morbid place but simply to understand and come to terms with his passing, which seems both shocking and untimely.

I am pleased that the investigation appears to be a thorough and intensive one.

Its probably most unlikely that there was any foul play but again we need to know all the facts , the investigation needs to rule such things out and determine the reason he passed.

Agree kapo74. I'm here because I'm grieving the biggest influence in my life, musically, and in many ways since age 13. I appreciate hearing thoughts and facts about his health before his death and what the hell happened... I'm still in shock believe it or not, and just want the dialogue about his death to continue. Thx much.

I'm exactly the same...somehow need to hear it

I don't know if it's been talked about, but what happened between 2010 and 2014?

.

He was playing and recording tracks but it seemed odd there were no albums being released. In retrospect, was something going on that we weren't aware of?

People close to him have said he seemed fine... but no albums for 3/4 years... that was very unusual for Prince!

I was thinking the same thing and then look at the content of some of the songs in there, especially Way Back Home. But I guess he was working with Warner to get his masters back during that time period.

Based on the little bit of information that we currently know, I believe you have "hit the nail on the head". And, apparently, Prince was very, very good at hiding it - it seems that even his inner circle may not have been aware of how bad things were for him, until the end. It was like you said: "By the time they stepped in, it was too late."

I hope they don't prosecute those that were just trying to help Prince. Pain management is very difficult, and as we have seen here on this website, pain management can be a touchy subject just to discuss. I really, really appreciate the time and the opportunity all of you have given me to discuss this subject with you. You will never know how important this has become to me while we wait. Thank you.

you're right but i think it's just human nature. Even in study my other heroes, i always try to see "where did they go wrong". Funny thing is, it always looks to be minor things that just lead to catastrophe. With Bruce Lee, it was most likely the cannibis he ate to calm himself down and relax a little, nothing major, he wasn't a junkie, just a guy under incredible stress just seeking peace. Sam Cooke was a guy who avoided trouble wherever he could, he would go with prostitutes because they wouldn't be clingy as groupies would be, it was well thought out and logical, yet sam slipped up when he got a little liquored up and uncharacteristacally lost his temper when a hooker ran off with his clothes. The motel attendant shot him. Fact is, none of us know when or how our ends will come, life is fragile and fate is fate, sometimes there is nothing that can be done.

Exactly I had mentioned this in another thread, that time period is very odd, there were gigs but this seems to be where the timeline hits some bumps and he goes through some changes many behind the scenes.

Yes. Right on, Munio.

I will triple that, Mumio. Thank you for your compassion. All we can do at this point is remain loyal and show kindness for each other as we each work through our grief in our own way. I hope Prince is proud of us as we go through this together.

They have on the site video of the emergency landing in Moline airport. You can't see or really make anything out. Thought some may want to see it.

I read that someone at the Walgreens told Prince that they were "praying for him" and he responded that they should have been praying last year maybe they would have worked, or something like that. Is this a real statement or some foolishness ?

Well said Rebel.

As for Kirk, he was one of the last to see Prince alive and also the one that found him dead, and that is why he is a suspect, which is why he got a lawyer.

That is why none of them are speaking. There was some model too involved in finding him.

Whatever the autopsy results are, it really doesn't matter, we lost a legendary musician and a wonderful man.

Somebody need to taser TMZ. (that's my anger coming out). Mind you I did watch the video. But it made me so sad.

I think once the results come out it will help the healing process. There's been no funeral.

When Whitney died, at least I could watch the funeral service online and cry my eyes out. Same with MJ. And when Paris spoke, I just can't.

But this........

if that turns out to be the case you would think the plane incident would be enough to make him take radical steps. None of it makes sense yet. So here we are just going in circles.

you know we are just going in circles because thats all there is to DO - i can't really help it. but i am glad i'm going in circles with all of YOU here - so what we speculate, bargain with ourselves and try to look for any way to make this make sense?

we're human - we loved him - we need to make some sense somehow - even when there isnt any sense to be made yet. sad as long as we're running in circles togther we'll be alright.

The fact is that CPR was given to Prince …but in the text explaining the DOA code says that CPR should not be performed if somebody is already dead hours before the medical team arrives.

From all this the only conclusion what can be drawn is that many things are unclear.

Kornfeld's son, who placed the 911 call, said that the person down was Prince and that he was dead....I heard the audio of the call when it was still on TMZ. In my own opinion, I don't believe CPR was performed and that whoever said it mispoke, or perhaps an assumption was made by the media. It's quite obvious to EMS personnel when someone is DOA.

Don't recall the specifics however I don't think everyone arrived at once. Deputies probably first, followed by EMS. The sheriff's official reports and press release say CPR was performed. No reason to think they are lying about that, but it was probably minimal.

Hi Eileen- I don't think they are lying either, but it's not standard EMS protocol to perform CPR on a dead person. Given that they've already said that rigor mortis had set in, there were visible signs of that and they just wouldn't have done it. Maybe the police started it, but paramedics wouldn't have done it. I can speak to this because my husband is a first responder...a paramedic/fire fighter.
