sad I didn't even think of that. How very sad sad

i do think it was the concern of the family and possibly prince himself not to risk any photos of him in death coming out. he was always so private and so careful to look good when he was seen, i think it would break his heart to think people would see him in that state. and not to be crass, but the longer the body is around and the more people have access to it, the higher the risk. also, i think it was said that he had said he did not want a big deal funeral, which is in keeping with his humble and private and jw nature.

I also think it was about money. His family had no access to Prince's money and the longer they put it off the bigger the demands of fans, friends and colleagues would become. They probably didnt have the funds for anything grand.

Aren't all elevators fitted with an emergency system?

not being a fan of elevators myself, i tend to avoid them. but i do remember the sheriff saying there was no phone in the elevator. whether or not it has an emergency button i don't know...but that is an important point. because what if prince was home alone and the elevator malfunctioned? he would need to alert someone so he didn't get stuck in there (or anyone who may have been at pp in the elevator). i guess more unknowns that we will maybe find out when the report comes out. but perhaps it means it all happened too fast to even hit an emergency button if there was one.

If no one else was in the building then pushing an emergency button probably wouldn't help. The alarm is usually internal isn't it? I'm more interested in knowing if there was a security camera.

This isn't TV, folks - it's reality. And the least we could do to honor Prince is to make sure it is done correctly. Between a choice of fast or right, we need to choose right. We need to be patient, and continue to hang together.

From what i know, all elevators connect to an outside entity that responds in case of an emergency. Of course, this is true for condo elevators and business elevators. An elevator in Prince house obeyed to whatever safety tules he decided, for sure, but surely there was some emergency button. And there must have been a camera, that is for certain.

I am too.

When detectives revisted PP back on May 10th I'm sure that was part of their investigation. Trying to figure out who was in the house and if timelines are matching up. They probably gathered forensic evidence (i.e. fingerprints, etc) also.

I have also read that he had the entire building (including lavatories) 'wired for sound' in case inspiration struck. I should imagine that the elevator would be no exception.

I'm going to operate again under the assumption that the OD is what took his life.

If he took enough to fatally suppress his CNS function and in turn his breathing, what likely happened is that as the medication started to kick in, he got very sleepy very fast. It likely came on so quickly that he just passed out and eventually stopped breathing in his sleep.

I say this because there has been a lot of speculation that he may have been struggling or trying to seek help and it's very possible (read: likely) that he didn't have time to react.

Perhaps the deputies heard the chatter, were closer to Paisley Park when they heard the address - and recognized it - from dispatch and happened to get there ahead of EMS. I don't know.

It hurts my heart to now know that Prince laid collapsed in that elevator all alone in that sprawling complex with no cell phone to call anyone for help, if he was even able. It makes me incredibly sad.

i also am very sad to think of him passed away in the elevator for so long, it seems that he ended his life as he lived it, much of it alone and it breaks my heart. but i am much more concerned about what you said, whether he was there without a phone needing help. i am concerned about how long he may have been there before losing consciousnss and what transpired before he did. we know he died in an ELEVATOR, and we know he was alone, and we know he was gone for some time before found..,those sad facts will not likely change. the best we can hope for at this point is to find out that he was busy puttering around pp making music, stepped into the elevator to go somewhere, and instantly lost consciousness and passed quickly without any distress, pain or anguish. i fear that may not be the case, but i will continue to hope until i am told otherwise.

I think the elevator move was the right one. When we first heard about Prince's untimely death, Kerry Gordy was interviewed, and he clearly stated that Prince NEVER used the elevator during the years he was with him at PP. That said, it's possible that if he hadn't gotten on that elevator, it would have been much longer to find him! Just sayin'.....We don't know if he was the only one with access to his personal space on the top floor. People would have assumed he just wasn't there.

so basically, the elevator did not have a phone, but may or may not have had an emergency button to reach the outside, may have been wired for voice pick up, and none of that may have mattered if prince passed out too quickly to act.

the only good news that we can possibly receive is that he was happy and busy, went to the elevator, and suddenly dropped without any angst.

honestly, if what happened is something other than that, it will be a heartbreak all over again. but i refuse to torture myself with such possibilities.

I don't recall what's been stated by officials as to who arrived first, but it would be unusual if deputies weren't first on scene. We have to call 9-1-1 occasionally where I work and there has never been an instance that police didn't arrive before the emt's/paramedics.

Sorry Eileen, I respectfully disagree.

On the bolded above, the doctors both agreed to treat him. Sending someone out to see him carrying medication is agreeing to treat him. That's not even half of what is wrong with your statement. Cali doctor clearly accepted him as a patient. So did other doctor.

<snip remainder>

Yes, we will agree to disagree. I don't know which country you are referencing, I reference the laws and patients rights here in Minnesota. There is too much to disagree with to go further.

Hopefully more will become confirmed and clearer in time for all.

Well, I cannot see in what parallel universe or otherwise how someone agrees to treat someone by clearing their schedule, sends an employee ahead with medication across state lines with the intention to give to another doctor to treat, how is Prince not yet their patient? I cannot see how a doctor does blood tests and then arrives at Prince's home to give the results, how is Prince not their patient?

I cannot see, believe or be even fathom how you can excuse this as Prince not being their patient.

In fact, your argument is so off, that it makes me wonder if you are disagreeing with me because you have another agenda. I just can't make sense of your argument in any way shape or form.

I never said Prince was not a patient of the doctor who reportedly visiting and/or treated him on Wed and came back with the blood test results on Thursday. I took pains in multiple paragraphs to distinguish between the doctor(s) I was talking about vs. the doctors you were talking about, and made a point of noting this to you. It sounds like you remain confused on this point or with a different understanding.

Of course once more information is confirmed (if that happens) it could turn out there are more or less doctors than what either of us think at this time.

Nothing about my statement presents confusion whatsoever. I am clear in my views and remain so. Not confused in any way. Bemused perhaps. But not confused.

-

Perhaps you are confused or did not understand my point. If the issue is that in your mind you are talking about different doctors, then my response to this is that it doesn't matter which doctors are involved, whomever agreed to treat Prince holds responsibility for their actions. That was always my point. Clear and simple. I noted those 2 doctors as the discussion has been mostly around those 2, and the media has focused on those 2 in particular.

-

Of course, we can only know the full story, and what is planned when what they chose to reveal, is revealed.

Agreed, that's almost always the case. If people understand how EMS responses are handled, they'd understand that this is how it usually happens. The initial dispatch of the 911 call will be by the police dept to the police because they get the 911 calls...they in turn will dispatch fire department/paramedics. There is a specific process that is followed.

ya, me too, i was involved in martial arts, injuries that have lasted for years more or less, i didn't even feel in the heat of the moment. carmen basilio, the great boxer said the same thing, that when you're heated up you don't even feel the pain. The next few days you do. I still don't understand why Prince would get up there and do all that, knowing he was wearing out. I don't get the logic behind that. Pro dancers quite in their 40's or before their fifties, it would have been quite understandable if he just didn't move anymore. For me, it's always been the music anyway, and he's done all the moves he'd ever do, he had nothing to prove. Who knows, maybe on stage, like a fighter, was the only place where he felt ok.

Strive

I was listening to Kevin Smith's first talk on Prince and there were so many warning signs. It's crazy to think that he was living weird and possibly in pain for over 15 years.

"So, the next day, he goes 'I don't think I'll be able to make it today because I have a concert to do at the St. Paul Xcel Arena.' He's like 'I'm going to do the show at night and my leg hurts so I'm not going to do the Q&A today, you're on your own' And I said 'Why's your leg hurt?' And he goes 'I just got something wrong with my knee'. And I was like 'Do you think it's because you always wear heels?' [big laughs from the crowd] And he's like 'what do you mean?' And I was like 'maybe your knee wouldn't hurt so bad if you wore some sneakers every once in awhile' And he goes 'Kevin, it's got nothing to do with sneakers' And I was like 'ok, man. just checking.' You know, we need you Prince."
