No one else was even close. Is it over? It cant be. We need to educate
The youngsters. They are bound to ask.

Heartbroken? YES. Over? Not until i take my last breath
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

It feels weird. I haven't cried listening to or seeing him in the past few days even though I still refuse to listen to Diamonds and Pearls because I still can't do it. I feel alone because nobody in my family is a Prince fan, but ever since I joined here over a week ago, I feel a little less alone. I'm getting a little emotional typing this but I love it here so far. I wished I joined while he was still around but sadly it didn't work that way. I miss you Prince more than I can express heart

Forever In My Life, forever in my heart. I love you Prince Rogers Nelson heart

But no, he kept on sluggin' away. Who throws a dance party less than 48 hours after a major medical emergency? Everyone around him was probably telling him to stop, to slow down. God knows we were.

But the man was incapable of stopping, of going silent. People talk about 'leaving everything on the stage'. Prince most absolutely left everything on the stage... and it cost him his life.

And for that reason, I am going to enjoy the fuck out of every note. Every lyric. Every dance step. I think he'd want me to. I think he'd want you to, too.

This might be too soon. I still wake every morning and sigh that he's not here any more.

I've been wondering what to do next. There's a huge purple void in my life.

Where do we now go for that excitement his new music, news, tours and escapades gave us?

Maybe he gave us pointers there too. I find myself going over the old twitter posts. He's pointing us to new musicians to follow there. Like he was handing over the baton. He's also pointing us to a world of old music I have yet to discover. So maybe we need to go exploring. Of course it's not the same as Prince's music, but we might discover something to peak our interest. I'll still be coming to the org for as long as it's here. And I hope it continues to be here.

Same 4 me.
I haven't listened to anything else either. I play him 24/7 in the house, when i'm in the shower, driving my car, headphones when i'm walking around. I'm rediscovering long lost gems & have a smile on my face when listening to shows I have been to.
I thought maybe I was in denial but it is not that. I LOVE his music & will continue to do so until I die. I have made a promise to myself that I will listen to at least one song of his every day for the rest of my life. I'm also loving all the rarities on YouTube (which is diminishing so someone is still getting paid to cease & desist).
For me he will never die because his star still glows so brightly. Also we have the vault to look forward to.
Of course i'm devastated about his passing & the needless manner of it. I really wanted to see the Piano & Microphone Tour. I was intrigued by what his new band would sound like & was hoping that with Mono Neon it would be experimental funk. My dream was to see him at Paisley Park or Madison Square Garden!
However i'm remembering passionately all he did give us & feel totally privileged to have been on this purple roller coaster ride with him & all the true funk soldiers!

I've felt similar to you although this held true before too, as I'm sure it did for many of us here. Few days go by where Prince isn't playing in my house, and although it was difficult at first and songs that previously bought nothing but joy made my eyes flood, that's happening less with the passing of time. I know when I am gone I want people to remember the best parts of me, so I feel the greatest way to honour his legacy is to listen. The most beautiful parts of him are right there, within every song a memory

Different but definitely not over. Prince has given us a lifetime of music. Everytime I hear a song or show I haven't listened to in a while I discover something new about it ... so No, it's definitely not over.

Death is funny like that, where at first everytime you think of them all you feel is overwhelming sadness, and then one day you wake up and it's not so bad anymore. You can smile again. Hoping you get to that day soon, a Prince marathon is just around the corner smile

IT'S DEFINITELY NOT OVER. History has shown time and time again that great artists are more celebrated in death than life. Personally, I am committed now more than ever to keeping his legacy alive.

Amen! That's what I was just coming here to say. It's up to the Purple Army to keep him alive now.

Hopefully his estate will make it easier and give us a little more to work with, like a video stream where we can at least share clips on social media. New music, etc.

He made his point I think. He kept it under wraps and tightly controlled and now just when we need his purple funk in a music / world that seems so boring and senseless and auto-tuned... We've had this explosion of him everywhere and the respect he is getting speaks volumes. I don't think MJ inspired people the way Prince has and I always figured he would come out the Victor in the age old Prince vs MJ competition.

It's really going to be up to us to keep it alive. There's a whole lot to dissect. We have all the time in the world to dig deep into his songs and try to figure this guy out.

I think this is just the beginning of a new phase for him. He said the "purple rain story" was over or something like that when Vanity passed. It's time to write a new book.

It's time for the Purple disciples to do the work. wink
Surprise, surprise.

ELVIS PRESLEY was another surprising (in his early 40's) and tragic loss, way too young and in such a sad way, but no its not over..Princes legacy lives on.

If only Prince had a Priscilla in his life to run Paisley Park and make it into something amazing and glorious for his fans. Elvis wanted everything for his child so her mother took charge and man did she make something outta so little. For their daughter Lisa Marie to someday when she got old enough to inherit..i heard he wanted PP to be a museum someday..he was a fan of Elvis and his Graceland Mansion.

[Edited 5/13/16 14:24pm]

I always found it interesting...in most basic stores & CD racks....PR.....Presley & Prince next to each other.....Prince covered some Elvis songs and of course the " Dead Like Elvis" on Face Down will always be there.....Dead Like Elvis.....WoW.....these really are the only 2 guys with strong catalogs....here in Philly every Sunday= 2 Hours of Elvis on Radio....been going for years....very easily the same can be done for Prince.....will it? No Clue......I always found it funny all the Michael Jackson hype upon his death....very apparent that he left nothing like Prince & Presley.....2 hours straight of Michael would run its course....can't do it....Prince & Presley both= many songs that are not hits but good to better non hit songs compared to hits.....Chaos & Disorder Album gems are on there....I felt I was the only one with that opinion until I met Mr. Hayes in Tampa Bay and we both agreed that is a good album and that is Rock n Roll....instead of the bankers & family being in control of the Prince Vault Music....Mr. Hayes should be the Boss of that- he knows what is good compared to the bankers plus he was there with Prince more than a little bit.

It will never be over for me. His music has been a part of my life for over 30 years and I can't see that ever changing. I will always be listening to his albums, enjoying his vids and so on, I also enjoy reading the org and will continue to do so. For all the years of interest and pleasure he gave me, I owe him - I want to play a part in keeping his legacy alive, I've just suggested a bunch of tracks to a couple of friends.

I got to see him twice in the past 9 years, so for me it's not like I'll be missing going to a lot of gigs, or meeting up with people in that context etc., although I will miss the hope of gigs and maybe a chance to see him now and then. His gigs were without a doubt, some of the most exciting experiences of my life and it's hard to deal with the fact that this door is now closed forever.

I am still trying to come to terms with his death. I'm getting affected by a lot of the gossip and speculation and that is pulling me down a bit. I need to regroup and only focus on the positive.

It's just so hard because I never even imagined a world without Prince in it. I've been spolied for so long and feel like I took him for granted because he and his music has been such a constant in my life. It has been a stabilizing force in my life since I was 13 years old. No matter what else was wrong in my little world, I could always escape into his music. That was 34 years ago. Today, I sit here and play my guitar along with Prince's songs and tears just start streaming.

And although I know quite a few people who do appreciate Prince's music, not many of them would say that the music is a part of them. I couldn't forget Prince or his music even if I tried. It's hard to explain--it's just a part of me.

I am truly thankful and grateful for this forum, and I am so sorry that I am just now interacting with all of you. That was truly an act of selfishness over all these years.

I am so overwhelmed that you all share my pain and as selfish as that sounds, I need that right now.

Amen! Think of everything the guy accomplished, everything he did for his fans. Cars like that don't pass you everyday Some musicians would have been satisfied with creating ONE of his many albums, if not ONE of his many hits. Not Prince. He kept grinding. How do we repay him? What do we owe him? Let's keep the org, his music and memory alive and thriving for generations to come! He deserves that and much more!
