i'm stiuck too, until i know what happened. i still can't listen. i try - and i turn it off. it makes him sound 'here.' i'm glad though he's burning up the charts - and he is indeed like our elvis.

i want EVERYTHING in the vault to be utilized and seen in rotating exhibits in PP. that way it makes money in minneapolis - for the people there and for the family running PP. there's so much stuff in there we could be making pilmgrages 4x/year to hear the latest exhibits.

some of the proceeds should be set up to become endowments for princes favorite charities and we can keep his spirit alive not just with the music, but with the charity he enabled by wringing out all that music for us.

it's not over - but it will never be the same, and boy did we have it GOOD people. WE HAD IT GOOD.

I always thought Prince was going to live a long long time, I think most fans thought the same too...This entire situation is still weird to me, everything in the community is now really different. The music will always be here, that's what we all have to keep holding on to...I still want to keep discussing his music/movies/videos/different Eras, these things will always be special to us.

The community is different, but I guess we could have are usual Org kinda discussions forever, but I will miss Prince asking for stuff to be taken down lol and him randomly org noting folks falloff

Most of it really hasn't even changed, because seeing Prince in concert or in the news doing something wasn't even a big part of it...at least not over the past several years. But yes it feels a lot different now. Hopefully more of the pain of losing him will go away and can listen to the music without that as a constant undercurrent to it.

I guess with time maybe we wont feel strange hearing his music....maybe its still to fresh to be asking "is it over" but it makes me wonder.

Cosign, that's how it is with my mom, RIP angel.

.

Prince isn't my blood kin of course (unless I want to call myself Prince Chocula, lol), but his art touched me very deeply all my life (since the 70s).

.

As for nursev's question - for me this ain't ova. It's different and I think in many ways is BIGGER than it could possibly be while he was alive. His art is instantly cast in a new light as Aerogram has said well in other threads. The vault has become not just a Prince fan obsession but part of pop culture.

O my u must b young too... lol..The Belushi brother who died? Yes. John Belushi, who died of an overdose in 1982. An original member/comedian on Saturday Nite Live. He said that line in a classic movie, Animal House. And ftr,the other brother, Jim, probaby wouldnt have had a career at all if it wasnt for John. Just sayin... [Edited 5/13/16 14:56pm]

I totally agree about the weirdness of this, but after seeing many shows at Paisley Park and after so many years of saying "damn I wish what he did here tonight would be released". The only solace is that it may now happen if we get lucky. There is the released Prince and the unreleased Prince and just from what I have heard personally the unreleased (live stuff anyway) is some of my favorite. Now whether it was being properly recorded at the time is another question. Some of the live stuff recently released from the Park on sound cloud was poorly recorded, and there really wasn't any excuse for that. Prince would many times run back and adjust the board himself. I just have no idea how you would ever release it all.

Nurse hug It takes time to heal, It's only been 3/4? Weeks His music will live on forever and bring in more and new people As for this site, I'm sure it will slow down now that there's no new music, concerts etc sad kinds sad to think about But eventually.. we may possibly have unreleased material for years to come And I betcha I will be in line to buy them, and probably post here how much I love em And just as someone else just said.. I'm a huge Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley fan And they been gone for a while now rose and I still love to jam their stuff music Prince will be up there as a legend! Jimis estate still puts out music, and I get excited when they do *whispers* jimi has a tons and tons of excellent bootlegs too lol Who knows what will happen sigh

This gives me hope hug I know there have been many new fans here (Im still deciding about them falloff ) but yes I know Prince hated bootlegs, but now we have too lol

This is my first post on the org since his death, so I guess I'm still taking it in.

For me.... Music wise, it was over 20 years ago. I'm a Warners period fan.
So I'm not overly upset that we won't hear new albums from P.
But I was always excited to hear new releases of old tracks, so I still have hope that this will continue.

I saw him in Feb with his Piano & a Mic tour which I will forever be greatful for.
But his Welcome 2 Australia Tour a few years back lacked the excitement I used to get when he toured. Which I blame on the lack of different material on the tours play list. and also on the ticket prices and seat allocations which seemed to benefit the corps more than the fans.
So P touring was also on my "yeh, ok" list

But whenever I read about what he did on this day or what he did on that day..... it really hits me that we won't hear any more of that.
And it doesn't help with all the mags that are out atm.
So it's impossible to not reminisc on what happened in the past.
In that sense I guess, for me the mystery is gone.

But the music will always continue.
And like I said before, I'm just hoping that the old releases will continue.

I will miss him though.
People always go on about being inspired by artist, which I always tend to laugh at. But with P.... he really DID affect my life when I was in my 20s.
Without him, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
At least those memories will always be with me.

As I'm sure for a lot of you I feel bittersweet listening to his music. It doesn't invoke the same rush simply because it's not reminding me of the adventure yet to come, it just reminds me of how great the ride was and that it's over now for good. P was always looking forward and so too was I. I was looking forwward to the new tours, the left turns , the new bands, the new sounds and the constant state of evolution. This little dude from Minny kept us so spoiled over the years its so hard to imagine the musical landscape without him. The word loss doesn't even do it justice. The totality of it is just wrong. I keep waiting for him to just pop up & announce a new album called the Resurrection..

It does not feel right I agree. A person, a thing - a massive immutable part of our lives that has been there and seen us through is gone, and it feels so sad and empty. He was there for me through those hard years and the good one and all my life since I was 12-13 and likewise for many others here. Whilst there will NEVER be another like him for us I praise and rejoice that we had him for as long as we did - and he touched us all in such a positive way. Love you all Purple Family, feeling it a bit today...poor wee mite.

You just wrote in words everything I have been feeling and tried to convey verbally to someone today. But, my voice failed to relate all the meaning that Prince held for me... It is not that he is only an icon from my youth...his music opened doors, gave me joy, voiced my anger and grief, was the sensual soundtrack to my love life, and made me feel like I had a place in this world when I felt I had none. His music will still provide that in the future... But, I am bereft like many here, because he will no longer be here to share it with us...

SNL aint broadcast in the UK. As for a classic movie of his, try 'Blues Brothers' over 'Animal House', but not '1941'. Yeah I'm old.

to me, it feels that even though we are left with his work to listen to, like his shadows and the marks that he made on the world, the spark that he himself brought will always be missing. so, it's different now. i keep seeing paisley park all quiet and sad and closed up, the internal hum gone.... sad i hadn't realized how attached i am to the park until prince's pasing; the idea of it ever falling silent is abhorrent

No, but really, it's changing. Part of what held my interest were the bizarre unexpected leaps of change that came directly from him. Completely new look, completely new band, new tour coming in two weeks! That's gone sad
I want there to be closure on his death. I want his estate to at least reach some point that doesn't look like insanity.

I've been relieved that after a week or so of not listening I started playing some instrumental stuff and then some of the less played albums and it's been ok - it's not going anywhere. I just have to catch myself from saying "oh, I'd LOVE to see him play this!"

I do think I'm gonna greatly reduce time with the org. I used to laugh all the time when I came here - now not so much
