It does not feel right I agree. A person, a thing - a massive immutable part of our lives that has been there and seen us through is gone, and it feels so sad and empty. He was there for me through those hard years and the good one and all my life since I was 12-13 and likewise for many others here. Whilst there will NEVER be another like him for us I praise and rejoice that we had him for as long as we did - and he touched us all in such a positive way. Love you all Purple Family, feeling it a bit today...poor wee mite.

i am still bouncing between the different phases of grief, mostly between deep sadness and anger. i am starting to come to grips that he really is dead, that his body was cremated after basically being cut apart (a thought which deeply distresses me), and that his spirit has moved on (although i hope people will start reporting psychic experiences of him). the rainbow over pp on the 21st was important to me, a clear sign imo. as to his music, i STILL can't listen. i have been watching him in interviews and i am kind of ok with that, but hearing him sing, nope. not yet. much of my distress is because we don't know what happened, because people are fighting over his assets, because we don't know if we might (or might not) hear new posthumous releases, but mostly because we don't know the circumstances or cause of death and whether anyone is culpable. and the alone in the elevator thing makes me ill. since we know he died there, alone, the best we can hope for is to find out he was busy recording and happy and just happened to go in the elevator and suddenly dropped, passing quickly and without pain. my fear is that the last few months of his life, and perhaps the last moments, were filled with more suffering than anyone knows. but i am hoping that, short of collapsing in his studio with guitar still in hand, maybe it was an easy passing. he never got a break in life with relationships or children, and I think he was quite lonely the past several years. the least the frickin universe could do is cut him a break and let him go easy. i expect the grieving to get worse around june 7 and when the autopsy report comes out.

Aww man this has me crying again... sad

If only Prince had a Priscilla in his life to run Paisley Park and make it into something amazing and glorious for his fans. Elvis wanted everything for his child so her mother took charge and man did she make something outta so little. For their daughter Lisa Marie

.

That's an excellent point. As effed up as Elvis's entourage was, at least he had the mother of his child Priscilla to keep things right after his death. Prince? Man, what a mess is crawling out of the woodwork since his death.

.

This ensured a lasting legacy. Unfortunately, Prince didn't have this:

One thing I re-learned through the past few weeks is that many Prince fans are definitely on the dramatic, fatalist side.

Four things to remember:

- Prince already "died" before with the name change, then the death of his more overtly sexual persona. In a way, I've had to "mourn" Prince before at least twice. So did many of you.

- It's conceivable that Prince will release more music posthumously than when he was alive. So, from that standpoint, there is still much to come.

- You'll probably end up seeing Prince like you have never seen him before through whatever videos he left.

- Short of an hologram, you'll never actually see him live again, but if indeed recorded every show, and at least some of it is released, you'll end up hearing him play live quite often.

He is no longer among the living, but more than probably any star, he's positioned to live on through the music and media he created.

Well, if taken care of, we still have the vault. The only thing is that without a will or instructions that we know of, how do we know what he wanted to be released, and what if producers decide to have their own arrangement to the songs. Personally, I don't want any producers changing anything to the songs, if certain songs were left unfinished, then leave them that way.

I always thought Prince was going to live a long long time, I think most fans thought the same too...This entire situation is still weird to me, everything in the community is now really different. The music will always be here, that's what we all have to keep holding on to...I still want to keep discussing his music/movies/videos/different Eras, these things will always be special to us.

It's the Belushi brother whom died.

I'm guessing that I'm missing out on some cultural reference to a humourous scene in which he mistakenly states that the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor???

Most of it really hasn't even changed, because seeing Prince in concert or in the news doing something wasn't even a big part of it...at least not over the past several years. But yes it feels a lot different now. Hopefully more of the pain of losing him will go away and can listen to the music without that as a constant undercurrent to it.

Something about Prince and the word posthumously in the same sentence just doesnt feel right.

O my u must b young too... lol..The Belushi brother who died? Yes. John Belushi, who died of an overdose in 1982. An original member/comedian on Saturday Nite Live. He said that line in a classic movie, Animal House. And ftr,the other brother, Jim, probaby wouldnt have had a career at all if it wasnt for John.
Just sayin...

Nurse hug It takes time to heal, It's only been 3/4? Weeks
His music will live on forever and bring in more and new people
As for this site, I'm sure it will slow down now that there's no new music, concerts etc
sad kinds sad to think about
But eventually.. we may possibly have unreleased material for years to come
And I betcha I will be in line to buy them, and probably post here how much I love em

And just as someone else just said.. I'm a huge Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley fan
And they been gone for a while now rose and I still love to jam their stuff music
Prince will be up there as a legend!

Jimis estate still puts out music, and I get excited when they do
*whispers* jimi has a tons and tons of excellent bootlegs too lol

Who knows what will happen sigh
Cant believe my purple psychedelic pimp slap pimp2

And I descend from grace, In arms of undertow
I will take my place, In the great below
