That was the worst piece of shit from start to finish I could have ever imagined. Wow. Questlove was marginal at best. The song selection I do understand, but Madonna's performance was average at best. But just God awfully boring and emotionless. Stevie Wonder added nothing to this either as PR was terrible. This was not a tribute to Prince, this was a shitty perfromance piece by Madonna and Stevie Wonder. Sorry all of you Stevie worshippers, he added nothing to this as that song is not something that is in his wheelhouse. My only solace in this is that it was the Billboard awards which is not exactly known for being the classiest of all the award shows. That was noted by the opening Brittney Spears lip synch battle/porn show. Sorry I wasted my time watching this so called Prince "tribute". But the time I wasted on watching that looked like about the same amount of time they spent planning that tribute. Piss poor Billboard!!

Madonna looked great, the outfit was perfect. Main issue is she sang the Sinead arragement of NC2U. It's such a cold rendition, which works with Sinead's delivery. It implies Madonna did not know Prince's work. Bring on BET.

Yes. I had a completely different impression from what I'm reading here of what they were doing with Purple Rain. It seemed to me they were standing there just being WITH the audience, so everyone together could sing the chorus of Purple Rain, as a memorial. They weren't singing the whole song, they weren't trying to make an "entertainer's performance" out of it. It was just for all those people to join together for a moment as a show of honor to Prince.

Anyway, I had no expectations, sensed some real emotions there, and found it touching. I appreciated that more than a bit of perfected kick-ass entertainment.
