The Picture is from herself on her website and twitter during her Rebel Heart tour in Austrailia.

She was tributing Bowie during the show as a clown. Here she is just having fun and clowning around in dress rehearsal. If you don't like it that is your problem. Get a life!

.

... still, they should have just asked Stevie, Chaka, 3rdEye Girl, Wendy & Lisa, The Time, The Revolution, Lianne la Havas, Esperanza Spalding, Steve Vai, Gary Clarke Jr. and the likes for one long jam session showcasing Prince's many different styles and genres throughout the years. yes

BombFunk, your right on it! I agree whole heartedly with you! Maybe she used her inside the music industry eye crysball connections to do this! eek mad sad neutral

I cant imagine any scenerio where this pleases me if its just Madonna performing.

Frankly, this should be an event that includes several musicians. I would be fine with Madonna saying a few things and introducing The Revolution with Stevie Wonder and/or a All-Star gathering of musicians to modestly play his music. This is unfortunate to say the least.

at Madonna's Rebel Heart show in Portland, OR October 17th, 2015, it was just a week after she was in MPLS St Paul show 10/08/15 and at paisley park.

She said this to her fans on stage in portland.................................

"I don't take anything for granted, I know it could be all over in a heartbeat".........................I have the impression now that Prince had talked to her about something like this........That was a warning for me as a fan of both of them.

I was furious at myself for not flying to the MPLS Show instead to be at paisley park afterwards.

I wonder how much she knows, if anything.

I know she doesnt jump to anyones mind but mine, but she could easily front the Revolution - esp with anything from ATWIAD - Parade - LoveSexy eras.

They were friends as well.

This performance is KILLER.

People really need to have some respect. I appreciate ANY tribute to Prince. It's a sign of respect and honor. Like her or not, Madonna is an international icon over the last 3 decades. Sound familiar? And they have a history. I hope she kills it. And if she doesnt? Then I respect her for giving the effort.

Yeah it's kinda crazy that people are criticizing someone for paying their respects. Even if she is secretly doing it just to get attention (which I don't believe at all), who cares? Actions are more important than private motives.

They say this is the "Entitlement Generation", trying to force a private organization (Billboard) to renege on their invitation to Madonna is the epitome of entitlement.

Which Prince video had the clip of him rolling his eyes at Madonna on a TV screen? Can someone turn that into a GIF that can be tweeted? Would be really useful during the Billboard broadcast.

Not without knowing the context surrounding the eye rolling, certainly can't assume the reason behind it without knowing the background.

I've always loved her and this performance as well.. but Linda Perry would say she isn't "relevant".

I am still in disbelief that many are still complaining about this.

If you don't like it, start a Kickstarter to buy Sheila (and her cohorts) an hour of primetime, to broadcast their own tribute extravaganza.

It's Billboard magazine. It's not high art. Billboard's whole existence is based on the commerce of popular music.

Complaining that Billboard have chosen one of the five most famous women in the world to draw in viewers, is like complaining that water is wet.

Aside from that, the 1980s was Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince. Why wouldn't she have been chosen? Are you people insane???

yeah it was the "Video Break at VH1", part of the "Love 4 One Another" tv special, sent on VH1 in early 1996 iirc, (the music is from The Gold Experience and some from Exodus).....

Really funny video break, Prince had great humour right?

pardon me, but that is a wrong order: biggrin

1. Prince (Emperor)
2. Michael Jackson (King O' Pop)
3. Madonna (Queen O' Pop)

Once Madonna was in Denmark, there was a tv clip on danish tv directly, of her singing "Virgin",

Her voice was awful live she couldn't keep her singing voice clear, it sounded so "false", she could not hit the notes right.

She can't sing live this was my experience, and she is not a musician, this would be my complain about this event. Will she do an artist like Prince "justice"..?

Oh and I am not a Madonna hater, I own 4-5 of her albums and compilations cd's.... on cd she is ok, live she is a "bad" singer....

She wasn't chosen. She contacted THEM and asked to do it. They at first had reservations, but her people convinced them to let her do it, and do it alone.

As I've pointed-out elsewhere, the producers would have had the final decision. So whether or not she offered her services is moot. They could have refused.

If all it took was Madonna's people to badger the producers, why didn't others do the same? Couldn't Sheila ME have picked up the telephone and offered her services too, instead of posting weird fan-art on Facebook like a jilted teen?

And... It's Billboard's show. They can choose who they want. It's not a bloody election, it's a meaningless award show.

This is more an 'early bird getting the worm' type of scenario than it is an evaluation of the best options to do a tribute and deciding that way.

.

Yes Billboard can choose who they want and people can complain as well. I'm not sure what your point is? Are you mad certain people have reacted the way they did? I've not complained, but I understand those that do.

.

And finally, don't conflate issues. Sheila wasn't complaining about Madonna, the public did. Sheila complained about being called "irrelevant" by Linda Perry, and she has every right to defend her honor for what she does when she goes out and performs for audiences worldwide.

Change it one more time..

To be fair, she's gotten alot better in recent years. She's still not likely to win any awards, but her voice is waaaaaaay better than it was when she started out. On her recent Rebel Heart Tour she totally nailed La Vie En Rose and Heartbreak City / Love Don't Live Here Anymore....probably some footage on Youtube of the performances if you wanted to check them out.

Me too!

As for the viewership, Billboard have their own poll, to determine which act the public are most excited to see...

http://www.billboard.com/...st-excited

The current front-runner is Troye Sivan, the young cute Australian gay heartthrob. Even Bieber is scoring low.

Teens are so fickle. lol

It's not a Prince-themed show for Prince fans. Some people here need a reality check.
